It sounds a lot like a CunninLynguists albums, probably more in the vein of A piece of Strange or Dirty Acres. Think an entire album with a dark melancholy vibe that tracks like "Things I Dream" and "Dance For Me" had.

As far as Kno being a sub-par rapper, I find a lot of his lyrics to be extremely clever.

For example, off of the track "Graveyard" - - - - -

"I'm the talcum Malcom/The emo Premo/got no, need for beef/got a vegan ego/I squeeze three freaks in an el camino/Arizona charlie, east casino."

"She don't swallow, that claim's preposterous/let's just say she has a populous esophagus."

"They probably wanna crash, but no bandicootin'/and yes we goin' dutch, but no Van Der Slootin'. Cause I don't hit women, but I'll annoy a bitch/wire tap your phone, Rod Blagojevich."

"I'm Vincent Van Gogh-in' hard in the paint/what gave you the impression that I ain't?"

and im not a fan of knos vocal work...

his production is just that good!!!!!!!!!

hopefully the shit comes with an instrumental disc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im not gonna knock son for wantin to go the full 9 and spit to his own creations on an independent project, but he got one of the weakest/corniest deliveries out... some dope ideas lyrically, poetic phrasing, but eh... that being said, this shit is fuckin incredible sonically and i was catching chills all over the place!!!!!!!!!!!!

and gnom you my nigga g but how you gonna fall in love with knos mic work and knock necro the way you do homie?!!?!?!?! ahahhahahaa im just fuckin with ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if CL came out 10 years earlier, theyd be lumped together with goodie mob/outkast/organized noise... success is circumstantial!!!!!!!!! these niggas got that work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, when it comes to being corny on the mic, Necro is in his own league, homie! Image, delivery AND lyrics are corny with him, with Kno, it's only his delivery at times.

So, QN5 Almost Went Out Of Business Last Week…

Tonedeff (http://qn5.com/discuss/member/154/) said on Oct 05, 2010: (http://qn5.com/discuss/viewthread/14305/#14305)

Yup. It’s true.
I was about 5 minutes away from pulling the plug on the whole thing. I even texted Kno & Pack to tell them I was “done”. It’s kinda like hearing about all those near-launch nuclear missile scenarios after the fact from the Cold War.
Just know that when you’re sleeping at night, the gears at QN5 are always turning in order to bring you the most engaging hip hop music on the planet. Decisions and consequences are made and lived through while you go to the ball game, head out for vacation or rent a tux for the prom. CC bills are incurred and personal lives are on the line while you’re living yours. It never stops for us. The truth is, I’ve nearly given up multiple times, but moreso from the sheer weight and sacrifice that I was taking on - and I held steady without much comment - but this time it was out of my hands.
SO, WHAT HAPPENED?
Doesn’t matter. Just know that we were doing fine till last week…but this time we got caught in a mega-fucked situation I can’t really get into - but it really puts us over the edge. The QK10 Plan (http://qn5.com/blog/entry/news-qk10-the-plan/) is all types of fucked right now - so I’m not entirely sure how we’re going to pull off the rest of the year’s releases.
IS THERE A SOLUTION?
• Dunno, but after 10+ years of trying to convince people to buy good music, I’m convinced there’s no magic bullet.
• Selling way more Paleo Packs (http://www.robotsndinosaurs.com/) and a slew of digital albums this month would help IMMENSELY. (It’s really unfortunate that most of you are sleeping on an amazingly talented artist).
• Pray for a YouTube miracle and hit an Antoine Dodson level view-count.
• Selling a lot of “ASTERISK 1-4” and ‘non-CunninLynguists’ QN5 releases would also help IMMENSELY. (But y’all knew that already, right?)
• Sell my porn collection. (Some things are sacred).
HEADCOUNT: BLUE SCHOOLERS
See, Blue Schoolers (and I mean…the hardcore blue schoolers that go out of their way for us) are BY FAR the most loyal, thoughtful, witty, enduring, patient and supportive fans on the planet (and I mean that with 100% sincerity) - an absolute RARITY in Hip Hop. Granted, y’all are hella spotty on show-attendance, but y’all generally DO support us. Problem is, there aren’t as many of you as there could be.
I guess a large audience with the smarts and musical appreciation to digest what we do as a collective is a tall order in today’s society, but y’all have always made the effort worth it. But in light of this latest development….it’s come to a head and WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS RELEASE MORE THAN EVER.
But hey, fuck a sob story. I figured I’d share this little slice of my life with y’all, cause…I figure if you already know what my living room looks like (http://qn5.com/discuss/viewthread/14239/), why the fuck not? With any luck, a potential bootlegger will think twice before hitting rapidshare, missing a show to watch Monday Night Football or ignore releases from our less-popular artists.
PARTING THOUGHTS:
• a) Why do I keep doing this to myself? *plays “Masochist” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gEp0yMKn54)
• b) It could have been worse, right? We’re still in business. (Barely). *plays “Optimist” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqnDvnsw8xM)
• For the love of god, buy Kokayi’s album (http://www.robotsndinosaurs.com/). It’s an AWESOME fucking record and well worth your support.
In the meantime, I’m going to keep pushing forward and ride out the year - and hopefully grow the fan base via all the releases. If we can’t do that…then I guess I’ll need to figure that out when the bell tolls. No quit in this heart, y’all.
So…tell a friend about QN5, eh?
Hollerate,
Tone

That one that GhettoGnom mentioned, "Robots and Dinosaurs" by Kokayi is very very good. I would recommend checking on that, and QN5 put that one out.

these lines are corny tho....

but the beats on this album are pretty sick, I think I'll stick with the instrumental

Very good album! I'm feelin' the concepts, rhymes, and production. Very complete album. KNO is a good lyricist, as someone else noted.

Incredible album.

Such a dark fee to it, Kno is such an original producer.

Are we gonna see Oneirology this year? Cant wait for that.

^Supposedly, but if you read the Tone post in my other post, "The QK10 Plan (http://qn5.com/blog/entry/news-qk10-the-plan/) is all types of fucked right now - so I’m not entirely sure how we’re going to pull off the rest of the year’s releases."..

And yeah, after listening a couple of times, Kno's lyrics are mostly top class. Along with amazing production and quality features, it makes his lack in flow easily forgiveable. It's still a bit awkward coming after someone like Tonedeff though, who once again displays an untouchable flow (for those who's STILL sleeping on Kokayi's Robot & Dinosaurs, go to bandcamp and take a listen to Tone's verse on Ninety 5.. It's almost unfair how great it's gotten!)

And on the supject of QN5, what other releases are worth checkin out? i haven't heard anything else but cuninlynguists. I was about to check out that new pack fm.

Pretty much every release, ever..

But yeah, Kokayi's Robots & Dinosaurs just got released digitally, great album. After that I would move on to Tonedeff - Archetype, Extended Famm - Happy Fuck You Songs, PackFM - whutduzFMstand4?, Substantial - Sacrificial Lambs (Or Bop Alloy with Marcus D., though that's technically not on Qn5) and their Baby Blue For Pink EP.. Work yourself from there.. If you wanna get a quick general feel, they got a pretty good song library @ http://qn5.com/music + 4 asterisk tapes with artists and affiliates on.

Also, I have my money on Chico and the Man being the best album in many years, whenever it's released.. Supposedly in december, but we'll see. :)

^^^^ Word.. Cut down a couple of dime bags a month to donate to your favorite record label, go to a show and/or buy some albums. Keeping quality hip hop music alive isn't much harder than that.
