yeah not to be full of myself but i pick up on just about anything mad fast hehe, no matter what's involved
i didn't have nobody to teach me about beats either irl, was kinda frustrating the first few months

it helped that i love pickin through rare/ old music (for sampling) tho, ill listen to just about anything
just wish i woulda started making beats years ago

whats your setup out of interest as i know u been producing

as i want to start just as a hobby but i dont want (or based on what producer hobbyists have told) need to fork out for hardware and how do u go about sampling stuff if u only use software forproduction.

my knowledge is limited

i did it about the cheapest way possible (and still do) as well

cool edit pro for sampling (its free) just drag a MP3 file into it and you can chop out sections of a song
FL Studio 9 (torrent DL, technically free lol)
started with a $120 MPD24 midi controller, now i use an MPK25 midi Keyboard ($250)

if you're not using hardware...within whatever software program you're using you should be able to just hit a key or use a mouse click to "hit" a drum pad and play whatever sound you want

Thanks for the help man, would you rather use Reason though or stick with your current setup based on the quality of both (lets say assuming ur laptop was a beast).

I've heard great things about Reason and it must have a good selection of refills and be popular without its support for VST.

idk i havent really delved too far into reason cuz of my limitations
i always hear reason is better once you learn to work with it (and i get that impression too)
but right now i know my way around FL Studio too well..where all my sounds are and what i can do with them
most beats never take me more than an hour to finish in FL cuz i know it so well now
