View Full Version : Hip Hop...dead?
10-15-2005, 05:34 PM
Alright so im in my car listening to Shade 45 on Sirius....and they had this debate as to like is hip hop dead or not......They said Mike Jones 50 and Lloyd Banks are real hip hop......now im wondering are they hip hop are just party starters? Nah mean what happened to a simple beat like Liquid Swordz for example gettin killed by RZA and GZA? Or Percee P just old school killin a track?
MY QUESTION IS:
IS HIP HOP DEAD TODAY?

Is it too early to mourn, is it too late to ride?

a lot of hip hop is dying(or dead), but theyre is still people making good hip hop and keeping it true
10-15-2005, 05:47 PM
yea but c now with fuckin Mike Jones fuckin Paul Wall all these club rappers
the image gets distorted

basically IMO yes it is. there is a fair few emcee's or groups still keepin it real as hellbound said but for the most part its all commercial/mainstream/killing, what hip-hop is really about, off.

but thats the thing
hip hop used to be thriving
PE NWA Ice T Wu Tang LL Cool J Run DMC KRS-ONE Biggie Jay-Z Nas

its not dead at all cuz there are a lot of quality songs comin out these days, but the majority of people dont check for it

Genius-I feel as if I touched on a lot of the points you're making in an essay I wrote last year. I hope you benefit from it, here it is:

good essay exactly some of my views
I make old school hip hop sometimes just to bring back flavor
as for it being diverse there aint that much diversity in gangs, killin bitches, robbin niggas, money, drugs all the same shit just a different package
Now Kanye West is was got me to like commercial hip hop again
Jesus Walks-the subject matter is good for commercialism
Diamonds Are Forever- again different and actually meaningfull
we need to have more of that in hip hop rap today
10-15-2005, 06:12 PM
yea i like kanye..so arrogant and stylish
10-15-2005, 06:13 PM
Yea I hear ya, either that or we need to personally convert people into Hip Hop. Like I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for camp counselors playing Com's Ressurection to me. I've already converted a couple people...

BUT when you then go on to say but i also wanna get across the point the Roc is still alive and they and me have great rhymes.....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this guy Seizes (spell?) to amaze me! how the fuck does The Roc relate to child slave labour??? he's just like Jigga...money, money, money, me, me, me! but his music sounds alrite.lol.
