View Full Version : What Happened to Beanie Sigel?

Today I look at Beanie Sigel's recent revelation that he wants to get on Cash Money and how such an incredible MC could be in such a sad position.

http://www.reppghhiphop.com/2011/01/27/what-happened-to-beanie-sigel/

How do you go from being one of the most consistent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGefPB3iWio), most charismatic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWXFVtQl3RY), most honest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmnFNp9rG58) and deep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB2ntGcCzzk) MCs of all time to someone who begs for a deal from one of the most corrupt record labels in the business? Shit I donít know ask Dwight Grant. Also known as Beanie Sigel, the former Roc-A-Fella Records artist was once posed to become the future of arguably the best rap outfit in hip hopís history (not counting the Wu since they were a group, the Roc was more of a label). After a strong debut album featuring beats by Kanye West (yeah thatís right, in 2000, long before he rocked that Louie backpack (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VNy-l-UxNeY/SwwFONpNGuI/AAAAAAAAAOA/9BS3ftMfrDo/s320/kanye-west.jpg)) and an all star cast of guest features from Hov and Scarface, Beans saw his career go from promising heir to the throne to castaway amidst the Roc-A-Fella breakup, and while all of that was just unfortunate, the recent woes of the head of State Property have been straight up sad.

It all started around the time that Beansí Broad Street Bully album dropped. An amazing album, as all his albums are (for real, his catalog is one of the most consistent in hip hop, donít sleep) it notably included a song called ďRun To The Roc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSFmarUL85I)Ē with former State Prop members Young Chris and Omilio Sparks (a.k.a. Baby Boy) which not too quietly aired some grievances regarding the way Mr. Knowles ran things over at the Roc offices. Now since no one checks for Beanie Sigel albums (but will complain that real lyricism has left hip hop) the whole diss track kind of went under the radar, until he dissed him a couple more times and 50 Cent caught wind of it all. Recently known for doing anything except drop quality music, Curtis decided that a good way to gain some publicity was to grab Beans out the trenches, prop him up, and diss Jay-Z. So a wack ass collaboration (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSR8WUbtPto) later and everyone is claiming that an official beef had begun, whether between 50 and Jay, or Jay and Beans, however what really came out of it was the sense that 50 had used Beans to try to remain relevant another year and that Beans thought he had a G-Unit membership card on the way when really he was just used as a pawn in the billionairesí chess game. Can it really get worse at this point?

A few years back I recall Mack 10 signing to Cash Money Records. Now I had the privilege of hearing his first release on that label and while in 2001 you could still find dope Mannie Fresh-laced albums, four albums and 10 years later no one remembers Mack 10 and thereís not much good you can say about the label that arguably once ran the South. So explain to me why, after being ousted from the Roc and making the dumb decision to roll with Dame (check The B. Coming to see one of the only albums released under the ďDamon Dash Music GroupĒ) then thinking 50 Cent was gonna do anything other than help himself, why is Beans gonna try to sign with Cash Money? Has he not heard that this label fucks people out of money (http://www.opposingviews.com/i/cash-money-records-shadiest-label-in-hip-hop) worse than Puffy? Now Puff might lock you down for life and keep your in distribution limbo, but Cash Money just straight up doesnít pay their artists. Countless irrelevant names (and real ones like Mannie Fresh himself) have complained that their checks never came in the mail from Birdman, add in a fake oil company and itís pretty clear that Cash Money Records is a good place to clean your money, but not much else.

So I donít know what will become of Beanie Sigel, sadly I think his ďpersonal demonsĒ are a big part of why he hasnít been as active in the scene as of recent, but itís also gotta be the man without a home issue. With the Roc he had a family, he had people in his corner 24/7 as part of the strongest team in hip hop, now heís lost, looking for a place to call home, and just like itís shameful that after getting no offers from NBA teams Allen Iverson had to go sign with Turkey, the thought of one of the most prolific MCs in rap history having to beg for a Cash Money signing is just wrong. He should be roaring through tracks with the ferociousness of a legend, not just popping up every now and then to spill his feelings in the air (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCVCQmxb7YQ&feature=fvst). So someone please sign Beans, bring greatness back to hip hop, we canít just leave him alone, the game needs him.

Who cares about Beanie Siegel. His albums suck because of wack beats. I'm not surprised he's begging for a record deal because he's ignorant. I bet all the money he made from Rocafella, he spent it all instead of saving it and starting his own label. If he had his own label, he wouldn't have to beg a record company for a deal. Most rappers don't know nothing about saving money and starting their own labels because all they know how to do is rap. They don't know nothing about the record business and they don't save their money. They spend their money on expensive cars, expensive houses, women, expensive jewelry, expensive clothes, expensive shoes, alcohol, weed. The sad thing about these rappers is that most of them aren't educated and don't like to read books. So therefore they will never get a job doing anything else. Rappers ought to be thankful that rap music was invented because if it wasn't, they would be in prison, unemployed, homeless or dead LOL.

Same thing happened with his friend Freeway. Freeway was signed to Cash Money, but hes now at G-Unit Philly.

Freeway was with Cash Money? Hahahahahahahahahahaha. I saw a movie of his on the shelf at Blockbuster Video awhile ago and it looks wack. Your typical ghetto violent movie with a lot of cursing and sex. I didn't see the movie but when i saw it on the shelf, i shook my head. Nobody is watching that shit LOL. These rappers make me laugh with their wack straight to video movies.

He's still bitching and moaning about the Roc.

He should do what Freeway has done and just work hard and put out dope music.

Month Of Madness
Stimiulus Package
Statik Free-EP

Free is grindin, he got deals with Rhymesayers and G-Unit Philly.

He's still good with Jay and putting out great music.

The B. Coming is a fucking great album though.

Beans is dope and his first 3 album are fuego but his beef wit J is pointless, keep it private. Roc is dead so no one gives a fuck. I no doubt agree that he's a slob tho. Fat and goin nowhere, strait pathetic. Freeway doin his damn thing, much props.

The sad thing about these rappers is that most of them aren't educated and don't like to read books. So therefore they will never get a job doing anything else. Rappers ought to be thankful that rap music was invented because if it wasn't, they would be in prison, unemployed, homeless or dead LOL.
all truth. Most ghetto peoples are uneducated/unmotivated low lifes who made their situation bad, the rest jus got dealt some bullshit but strive to eliminate it, myself included.

CJ is right, alot of rappers are dumb as fuck when it comes to the business of saving and investing money.

Chains depreciate quickly in value especially if its a custom chain. Short term swag=long term retardness.
