I'm usually not a thread starter but I'm curious to see who everybody thinks was the best producer of the past decade. I remember my friend a while back saying Just Blaze was but now that the Greatest Story Never Told leaked I've realized he hasn't been all that hot since like 2005 or 2006 at best. I've still been thinking who I am going to pick who has been consistent the past decade, but like I said I'm curious to see what everybody else thinks on here...

I won't name the obvious dudes in the mainstream spotlight, too easy. Since I've begun with cratesofjr, I've had the opportunity to find and help cultivate a crop of new talent.

There are producers with talent I think is close to the usual suspects. They are currently on the underground and haven't cut a record yet, they're still emerging. I like finding those people

Hazeldizzy (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2011/01/hazeldizzy-8-from-98-beat-tape-vol-1.html) from France
Astronote (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2010/12/french-producer-astronote-releases.html) from France
Suff Daddy (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2010/05/suff-daddy-feelin-fly-feat-mariama.html) from Germany
Shuko (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2009/12/jay-z-marvin-gaye-brooklyn-soul.html) from Germany (American Gangster (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2009/12/jay-z-marvin-gaye-brooklyn-soul.html)/Brooklyn Soul (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2009/12/jay-z-marvin-gaye-brooklyn-soul.html) Remixes)
Laudz (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2011/01/strange-fruit-project-laudz-mask.html) from Brazil
SirOJ, FS Green, Presto Bag Of Trix, Neenah (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2010/06/neenah-quality-selection-mixtape.html) and Statik Music from The Netherlands
PVD (http://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2010/11/bringing-back-essence-of-jazz-to-hip.html) (Pat Van Dyke) from New Jersey

2 in the current spotlight I'll name: DJ Khalil and Symbolyc One

I'm curious to hear people's choices of producers on the come up as well as the ones we always hear of in the news.

el-producto, for sure. he's one of the very few who elevated the sound of hip hop for the 2000's.

kanye west, no question.

statik selektah seems to be the man to go to for some really dope beats the last couple of years.

madlib
j-zone
kno
alchemist
9th wonder
stoupe
ant
and i know there's more. im also leaving out 90's legends who put in great work the last decade also.

ok, good choices......... but IMO 9th Wonder mainly because he is consistent and is constantly dropping joints

RZA is definitely there... i know he's fallen off as of late. But take a look at his work in the beginning of the decade.

Supreme- Nutmeg, The Grain, Buck 50, Stroke Of Death, Child's Play

The W had some nasty stuff on it.

He had some sick beats on Bulletproof Wallets before Def Jam fucked it up.

Those beats on Cilvaringz LP. (even though some of those were from the 90's)

His tracks on Cuban II.

He's the best known producer of the last decade but people forget allot of already legendary producers made there debuts in the last decade.
