I wanna start making beats, but I don't want it to be too difficult at first. Which one would you recommend?

Help me out

Peace!

the 1000 is my recommendation. Mostly since u have a better visual of things like Trim, Programs, Song Mode etc. It's not really going to be easy no matter what u pick. My 1st MPC was a 1000 6 yrs ago and I just bought it with no clue how they actually worked. Took quite a bit of reading the manual and research from friends/youtube.

I wouldn't go that far. If you have experience either using a 1000 or 2500 then the 500 is still a quality and efficient product. Just added one to my arsenal early this year.

It depends on what sort of production you are into and what is best for you. I first brought an MPC 2000 a few months ago which I personally feel was a big mistake on my part as I was already using two DAWs (FL Studio 8 and Reason 5) so I sold it to buy an MPD 32 and a new turntable and I have not looked back since then. In addition to what has been said I would like to state that the earlier models of the MPC 1000 are notorious for having dodgy pads.

I would only suggest the MPC 500 if you wish to use it on the go other than that you might as well get the MPC 1000 if you are going to buy and MPC as it is JJOS compatible (almost making it an MPC 2500).

Good looking out on the replies!

@laolu what do you mean by dodgy. Are the pads not working very well?

The kind of beats I wanna make is similar to the sound from the 90's. I got mad love for that. Hard beats and dope samples. But I'm about to start from scratch and I'm tryin not to use a shit load of money right away..

if u don't want to spend a lot at first, then u might want to start with a DAW. i wasted money buyin shit that i didn't need when i first started out.

Many complain about the pads, Google search MPC 1000 pads and you will see what I mean.

I think I'ma take my chances with the 500. I read that the pads are changable, so I guess you can fix it

You can replace pads and sensors on any MPC actually. I recommend u check http://www.mpc-forums.com/ for any additional info.

I myself started out with a Korg PadKontrol and DAW, it was great because i learned the basics of beatmaking, but in the long run the MPC helped me much more.

But, if you'll buy a MPC, and choose between 500 and 1K, you should choose the 1K.
Reasons have been written in the thread earlier !
