Came upon this comment by Tmoa in General Chat and thought it would make for good discussion in KTL.

Interesting that you would mention this because people don't understand that everything needs to be balanced. Good and evil must exist.

What is "good"?

What is "evil"?

Does anyone else believe that they both must exist as some sort of balance?

Anyone have a different take?

Build...(and then destroy something later on to balance things out :9)

good and evil are just man made subjective words. they dont mean much

but i do agree about everything should be trying to keep a balance. if you think about its really about cause and effect. for every action there is a reaction. if the action and reaction are then they in harmony. if one outweighs the other there is chaos. i'm not going to say harmony is 'good' because thats again subjective, but i do think i can say it would be 'desirable', as at the heart of it, two forces are battling eachother and so if everything is in 'sync' then nothing is fighting, leaving both parties satisfied.

really though, this is the most ancient and basic question asked by us, the ying and yang. theres probably a reason its been such a debating topic for so many years - because there is no definite answer, at least at the moment.

Good is living within the bounds of a "moral" code that you deem to be good.

Evil is living outside the bounds of a "moral" code that you deem to be bad.

A full life cannot be lived by a man only doing one.

Destroy... um you're gay son.

you need to redefine your post. Good and evil have no relevance, their illusions constructed by individual ideas of morality.

Your probably talking about Oder and chaos, Law and freedom, Man(reason) and the beast(impulse). If that's the case then yeah both of which are needed. It is not hard to see that compassion cannot exist with out suffering. that empathy is a product of impulse. Mans vary survival is based on Progress, Progress cannot be made if standing still (ever-things in order). Progress takes time and disregard

Oh and if you let the beast back in to the sub-Forum. I will guaranty you that he will thoroughly destroy this thread for you. But i am keeping him at bay for as long as i can.

Evil is inhumane and harmful philosophies or modes of thinking, lack of respect for self or others, lack of respect for the environment, failure to see god in every element that surrounds you, etc.

There is no group, aggregate, collective, community, or environment that requires the existence of evil to be at peace or be healthy.

There are groups, aggregates, collectives, and communities that do require the acceptance of evil in order to be happy, that is because they are evil individuals and people.|(

It really depends on who you ask. There are people that need evil in order to feel complete and there are people who are complete in order and balance who understand that there is never any need for evil.

Inhuman? what do you consider human, can you define that. Morality is an opinion.

harmful philosophies; once again can you define that. along time ago the church considers thinking that the earth was not the center of the universe to be harmful. even know, its considered that teaching anything that you do not agree with is harmful. meaning its considered harmful to teach that homosexuals deserve the same rights. harmful philosophies. is a mater of opinion

failure to see god; can you see god? and if so which god is it. it is my personal opinion that the Abraham god (Yahweh) is evil, for his countless teaching of genocide rape slavery and other violations of human right. so i am i Evil, and if so does that make those things good.

Good and Evil are Illusions created from individual opinions of Morality.

following god is a sin against humanity. but to those sinners not following god is a sin.
to the Nazi Hitler was a hero, to the rest of the world he was a villain. how do you say their views are wrong without being evil your self, by denying them the right to speak and think freely
it not a mater of good and evil; but Order and Chaos, freedom and peace. and one cannot live with out a balance in that.
