this pretty much carries on where Pretty Tony left off. from what i read, some of these songs were cuts that didn't make that album. Trife really surprised me on here because i didn't pay attention to him before, but after hearing Punch In Punch Out i was converted. some of the songs lag in the middle but it still has some bangers!

Yeah for sure, this is a dope album. Look out for Solomon Childs, that emcee got the potential for a solo effort. The production on this album is actually real dope especially tracks like Guerilla Hood, The Drummer, Pass The Mic, Wicked with lead, Mama Can you hear Me, basically there are some real good tracks here. This album is an 8 or 7.5 out of ten IMO.
peace

Ok album, production didn't seem the greatest. I'm just waitin' for Solomon Childs solo joint. Number 8 and 14 the best joints on that CD.

My thoughts exactly. Really nothing special. Guerilla Hood would've been much better off on Pretty Toney.

my fave joints are:
Guerilla Hood

The Drummer
but most of all... 'Be My Girl'
that shit is pure joy to listen to, its just beautiful, and solomon childs should have a career ahead of him, and superb............

I think the album is wack because of the beats. Their lyrics were pretty good but the beats sucked.

album was definitely somewhat underproduced. some of the tracks sounded like demos, like the one with bonecrusher, the bass sounded off. whoever engineered this album is a clown, but 'mama can you hear me' has a epic beat.

718 is a Banger!
I also liked it better then the Pretty Toney album.
Solomon Childs went hard on this one.

My only complaint is that they didnt use the original version of Gorilla Hood with Childs on the chorus.

it's a nice release, very much in the same vein off "Pretty Toney", actually 'Guerilla Hood', '88 Freestyle', 'The Drummer', 'Smith Brothers', 'Paychecks' are cut tracks from that album. it even says 'Official Mixtape' on the cover so people shouldn't be to nitpicking when it comes to this one, it's a mix of new songs and unreleased tracks but it does have a consistant sound for the most part though.

"Paychecks" might be my favorite track

^^^didn't they change the beat to 'paychecks'--like interpolating the sample? i haven't heard this album in a few years but i recall the beat being different from the one that was originally leaked.

^^ yeah i know they couldn't get the sample cleared so they had to replay all the parts, pretty sure that's why it says produced by D Prosper and co-produced by K-Def when it was a K-Def beat to start with. can't recall i ever heard a different version though, feel free to post it up if anyone got it!

Yeah there is two diff versions of this track... the original version was on the Hidden Darts Vol.2 mixtape, it used the original sample, but then the version that ended up on the actual 718 album was slightly different, had a woman singing the vocal sample part from the original and I think the keyboard/piano line was replayed too.

I've got both versions, I'll try and up them in the morning.

Sorry about the wait, took me a while to find the right CD...

Here's the original version of Paychecks.

I prefer this version over the album version, dunno if its just cos I had this one first and bumped it quite a lot.

Anyway, here ya go...
