this is up there on my top 5 WU Albums. i really don't give a shit what anyone else says. this album is untouchable! at a time when i was doubting the WU, they put out 3 albums that floored me; Supreme Clientele, The W and this. they all had a dark vibe to them but managed to keep it moving and didn't bore me. i pretty much like every track on here. everyone makes a big deal about the Japanese version of this soundtrack, but if you have this, you're good to go!

Fast Shadow is one of the illest Wu-songs. Love that beat.

strange eyes - 8.5 (hard to go wrong with a good rza beat and sunz of man)
4 sho sho - 8.5 (northstar grows on another good rza beat)
zip code - 6 (this beat too bob digi for me but i can see how someone could like it)
cakes - 8.5 (good old school beat with rza and g rap)
don't test - 1 (as the name suggest; suga bang bang is just plain shit)
walking thru darkness - 2 (not rap. only good to see tekitha get a solo song)
the man - 9 (i would have preferred it to have only Masta kIlla on it, but oh well)
walk the dogs - 7 (royal fam and la are a pleasure to listen to; unimaginative beat)
stay with me - 0 (okay that's enough r&b please!)
east ny stamp - 8.5 (big jeru fan; good to hear him on a classic wu thread)
fast shadow - 10 (classic wu flava. rza at his best)
samurai showdown - 3.5 (wack digi shit for the most part. i like the ghostdog theme laced in the middle)

bottomline: 7

good album. good soundtrack. good for rza. good for wu. good for all these headz that have been on the low for a minute.

The key for me "produced by The RZA". I'd like to see more of that in the upcoming Wu projects, like the good 'ol days

One of RZA'S best work IMO. the music in the film makes the movie even better when watching it. very few scores pull that off.. giving true cinematic emotion thru instrumentation and vocals. 9/10.

album is like a 5/10. its alright. nowhere near a classic. but it does have one of my favorite rza beats ever.

Black Knights - Zip Code

When I heard this, I said HOLY SHIT. This is the kind of beats I miss from The Rza. With the drums sounding dirty like that. Love the re-sampling of that joint used on Tears. Then the other sounds that takeover the middle of the song, then the original melody reappears at the end, GENIUS. If anybody has the instrumental for Zip Code, please tell me.

Note to Rza : Start using drum breaks again. I miss that.

This is a great album with most of the beats that is used in the movie. Most of the tracks are instrumental RZA beats.

1. Ghost Dog Theme
2. Opening Theme
3. Flying Birds
4. Samurai Theme
5. Gangsters Theme
6. Dead Birds
7. Fast Shadow (Version 1)
8. Rza #7
9. Funky Theme
10. Rza's Theme
11. Samurai Showdown (Raise Your Sword)
12. Ghost Dog Theme
13. Fast Shadow (Version 2)
14. Untitled #8
15. Untitled #12
16. Wu-World Order (Version 1)

I think the whole album is a 9/10, all of the tracks are great but the only minus is that the main part is instrumentals.

My top 5:

RZA's Theme
Flying Birds
Fast Shadow
RZA # 7
Samurai Theme

Anyways, the score was amazing. RZA really showed he can do more than produce songs for rappers, he can produce songs for movies.

The RZA - Cakes (f/ Kool G Rap) [4/5]
Suga Bang - Don't Test/Wu Stallion [4/5]

This was released in 2000 along with The W and Supreme Clientele and got my appreciation back for Wu-Tang's music. It's not a classic album but it features only great music, some of the featured artists could have been better though.

For me an absolute classic. I'm sure I read somewhere that Jim Jarmusch ew-wrote parts of the film after getting the music delivered to him secretively by RZA from a van with a big Wu logo on it. Part of this could be some wild imaginings of what Bobby Digital the movie might have been but I think RZAs life must have been wild back then. 'Hey I've just been involved in some of the greatest, most appreciated most artistic output ever and hey that's another huge cheque come through the door'.

Great film too, Forest Whitaker is the man
