Dunno, but Oneirology and Undun needs to be mentioned. The way they've tackled their concepts is a way larger feat to me than most of the shit that gets passed on as lyrical.

nah, Pharoahe Monch's "W.A.R." is the best lyrical performance of the year - not the best album though.. probably followed by "eLmatic" yeah. been lots of hot shit in 2011, i'm doing long ass reviews for 11 of them now @ my blog.. gonna drop #1 on New Year's Eve. fucking hard work, wish i would've settled with 5 now instead hahah.

Haha, props for that, I bet it's going to be a great read. :)
For 2011, I think there's been a lot of great music around. Lyrically, W.A.R., The Greatest Story Never Told, Cats & Dogs, R.E.K.S. etc... yeah. Can't complain too much.

Most of the best shit from 2011 has already been mentioned so im gonna recommend three really dope albums from last year that flew under most peoples radars. Dunno if their lyrically the best, but they are lyrical and dope as fuck.
Rasheed Chappell - Future Before Nostalgia
Rashad & Confidence - The Element Of Surprise
The Doppelgangaz - Lone Sharks
