Canibus- No Return. He tells some dope ass stories in it. Sick ass Stoupe beat as well.

[Verse One]
Yo, scientists gather in a secret place to debate//
They photographed the Earth from space and saw my face//
They tried to translate the innate asiatic shape//
before the final earthquakes came but it was too late//
Only one eighth of the human race escaped to space//
They were chased by flying phenomenon to the lunar base//
Floatillas and space centers, lasers probed the entrance//
DNA code sensors reject old genetics//
I presented my cosmic clearance to a patrol of medics//
I was injected with sodium pentathol and questioned//
I relayed the message the way I was trained to remember it//
I showed them the keypad code and told 'em to enter it//
I told 'em which alphanumeric buttons were sensitive//
He snatched it outta my hand and started depressing it//
I told him detonation was definite if he kept at it//
He never quit, he just lost his temper and flipped//
I bowed my head like "I guess this is it"//
My ears popped, the music stopped, and I couldn't hear shit//

[Verse Two]
The driver jogged around to the front and opened the door//
He said his name was Muhammed Jamal and he'd be with me 'till fall//
He said the escort service had called//
and a package would be waitin for me at the window//
I said thanks, he grabbed my bags fast and put 'em in the trunk//
Then he ran around to the front, slammed it in gear//
Pulled off slow, winding down his window//
and asked me if I minded if he smoke, I said no, he drove off//
Cut my cell phone off, then I swallowed a tablet of Zoloft//
Went to sleep and woke up feelin' kinda lost//
I asked him what the weather's been like lately//
he said he doesn't mind the heat and hates the A/C//
Said he had a son who was eighteen and made beats//
and I happened to be his favorite emcee//
I said for real, that's crazy, I meet him later//
Yo Jamal could you please do me a favor//
When we get to the corner stop at the bodega//
Hopped out the car, walked inside//
the store's stereo was playin' Feliz Navidad//
I got a pack of condoms and walked to the back of the line//
There was three Taliban that was talkin' very loud//
One reached in his back side and pulled out a Beretta gun//
The last word I heard myself say was a four letter one//
He looked me in the eye and said the drama's never done//
Cuz there's no return...no return//

[Verse Three]
I heard the ringtone of the red phone//
Headquarters informed us there was an explosion in the red zone//
We were ordered to get ready to go//
and to get into our bio-weapons protective gear and clothes//
I rode shotgun, my partner Ramirez drove//
GPS control gave us coordinates where to go//
Soon as we got there I could feel the hot air//
For a second I stopped and stared, there was cops everywhere//
I told 'em we need to get a square perimeter clear//
We got an hour 'till nightfall, so light some flares//
I said a twenty second prayer then ran to the second chair//
the lift that was there, then I waved my hands up in the air//
to signal that it was clear before I ran upstairs//
I could barely see, smoke was so thick in the air//
I was visually impaired and started to get scared//
I heard a woman scream "HELP" but I didn't know where//
I started screamin' back "I'm not gonna leave you here"//
Sayin to myself "damn it's hard to breathe in here"//
Searched the rooms one by one like "fuck my lungs"//
Ramirez said the fire truck got stuck by the front//
I crawled all the way through the foyer to the end of the hallway//
and seen her on the floor next to the doorway//
I was half unconscious but I just ignored the pain//
Helped her to her feet and she had her arm in a brace//
All this tar-like black stuff was all in her face//
I radio Ramirez coughin and tried to explain//
I heard him say something to me like "It's all in flames!"//
There was ceiling debris fallin all over the place//
I looked her in her eye, she looked into mine, it was strange//
Then I blinked for the last time and never saw her again//

Liquid Swords...the reason I became a hip hop fan.

10-28-2005, 07:25 PM
my all-time favourite isn't hip hop, its Heralds of The Fall by Noumena but my favourite hip hop, is probably Canarsie Arties Brigade...everybody rips that shit!

[Ill Bill]
You like to take drugs and hear music, my album is engineered
Like biotechnology, attach me to ya ear
I make the devil do the work of God and God do evil
I'm both positive and negative, I'm like two people
Both from New York, New York, so trife they named it twice
Only idiots is broke, the hood is paved with ice
Paved with gold but never let it rape ya soul
Turn the tables on the dough homie take control
Fuck not eatin' shot the sheriff, made 'em stop breathin'
Anybody that ever fucked with me I got even
Wanna be here hardcore homie but you not leavin'
Starin' down at yourself prayin' maybe you'll stop bleedin'
God hates us all, use a brick to decorate the wall
Put a bullet in ya dome, desecrate ya skull
A world of pain so hot, Bill burst into flames
Psychological spit it like a person deranged

I'm one of Brooklyn's best sickos, I'm not egotistical
Just statin' facts hollow tip bullets keep the biscuit full
My rap speaks for itself, its alive
It says fuck with me and I'll have to murder you to survive
Their ain't many like me not too many like me
Too many wanna be like me it's not likely
Ya packin' a sword and a bat
But me I'm runnin' across the chessboard with a gat, ain't that ya queen
I don't gotta play this game clean
But I'm a play it like I mean business and I'm a utilize my brain to scheme
Rap been producin' directin' pimpin' an evil thinkin' clappin'
It's gruesome dissections
I started rhymin' in 88 like eighth grade in New York state
The only emotion I displayed was hate
From pigs with gats and kids that rapped
Fuck a snitch, you can't blame me for an animal like that

I clash with the mind of a machathetto
And laugh if you cryin' when I blast the metal
March with an army of darkness until ya shotty go shot less
With a cock that'll make ya mommy drop topless
Write a bible quote with his blood on the wall
Another horror flick victim is just, runnin' to fall
Now the FBI say that theirs a nut on the crawl
It's Q the fuckin' maniac, brought a gun to the brawl
Pop the tow truck cop from my automobile
Then slide up in the club and party with my portable steel
Violence for the violent consumer, keep ya ear to the beat
Ya eyes glued to the luger and true to the herd
Hopin' to hurt ya fancy life
Cuz I paid taxes and vote for the anti Christ
Unholy trinity, vacate the whole vicinity
Scrappin' dignity and quickly take the hoes virginity

Cause back to before zodiacs, sharpshooter, top of the pack
I keep it poppin' like I'm thrown in Iraq
Y'all know the cults back, the most hated with the sickest flow
Control freak handin' out cups like I was Jim Jones
Bury the rubble, half y'all live in the bubble
Fakin' my own death to forge passports and body doubles
Flash to 86, bubble coats toast and sneakers
Slay ya wrists, keep the posse thick, ropes and beepers
Dead celebrities, real life ain't as dope as the movies
Mental funeral the trauma unit since it was juvis
Out the hood groupies, coke head thugs and rock cuties
Motley Crue sluts love to chew cock and cop boobies
Swing the war hammer, see me on tour flyin' the Gor banner
The pigs tryin' to catch me out shoppin' I'm so modest
The gods are metal so consider the dream
Elvis is dead and 2Pac, he livin' in Queens

Black Star featuring Common "Respiration"

[Verse 1-Mos Def]
The new moon rode high in the crown of the metropolis
Shinin', like who on top of this?
People was tusslin', arguin' and bustlin'
Gangstas of Gotham hardcore hustlin
I'm wrestlin' with words and ideas
My ears is pricked, seekin' what will transmit
The scribes can apply to transcript, yo, yo
This ain't no time where the usual is suitable
Tonight alive, let's describe the inscrutable
The indisputable, we New York the narcotic
Strength in metal and fiber optics
Where mercenaries is paid to trade hot stock tips
For profits, thirsty criminals take pockets
Hard knuckles on the second hands of workin' class watches
Skyscrapers is collosus, the cost of livin' is preposterous
Stay alive, you play or die, no options
No Batman and Robin, can't tell between the cops and the robbers
They both partners, they all heartless
With no conscience, back streets stay darkened
Where unbelievin' hearts stay hardened
My eagle talons stay sharpened, like city lights stay throbbin'
You either make a way or stay sobbin'
The Shiny Apple is bruised but sweet, and if you choose to eat
You could lose your teeth, many crews retreat
Nightly news repeat, who got shot down and locked down
Spotlight to savages, NASDAQ averages
My narrative rose to explain this existance
Amidst the harbor lights which remain in the distance

[Chorus-Mos Def]
So much on my mind that I can't recline
Blastin' holes in the night 'til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars and shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Heard the bass ride out like an ancient matin' call
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathin'
Chest heavin', against the flesh of the evenin'
Sigh before I die like the last train leavin'

[Verse 2-Talib Kweli]
Breathe in deep city breaths, sittin' on shitty steps
We stoop to new lows, hell froze the night the city slept
The beast crept through concrete jungles communicatin' with one another
In ghetto birds where waters fall from the hydrants to the gutters
The beast walk the beats, but the beats we be makin'
You on the wrong side of the track lookin' visibly shaken
Taken them plungers, plungin' to death that's painted by the numbers
With Krylon applied pressure
Cats is playin God, but havin' children by a lesser baby mother, but fuck it
we played against each other like puppets
Swearin' you got pull when the only pull you got is the wool over ya eyes
Gettin' knowledge in jail like a blessin' in disguise
Look in the skies for God, what you see besides the smog
Is broken dreams flyin' away on the wings of the obscene
Thoughts that people put in the air
Places where you could get murdered over a glare, but everything is fair
It's a paradox we call reality
So keepin' it real will make you casualty of abnormal normality
Killers Born Naturally like Mickey and Mallory
Not knowin' the ways 'll get you capped like an NBA salary
Some cats be emceein' to illustrate what we be seein'
Hard to be a spiritual bein' when shit is shakin 'what you believe in
For trees to grow in Brooklyn, seeds need to be planted
I'm askin' if y'all feel me and the crowd left me stranded
My blood pressure boiled and rose
'Cause New York niggas actin' spoiled at shows
To the winners the spoils go
I take the L, transfer to the 2, head to the gates
New York life type trife, the Roman Empire state

[Chorus-Mos Def]
So much on my mind, I just can't recline
Blastin' holes in the night 'til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars and shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo, don't the bass ride out like an ancient matin' call?
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathin'
Chest heavin', against the flesh of the evenin'
Sigh before I die like the last train leavin'

[Verse 3-Common]
Yo, on The Amen, Corner I stood lookin' at my former hood
Felt the spirit in the wind, knew my friend was gone for good
Threw dirt on the casket, the hurt, I couldn't mask it
Mixin' down emotions, struggle I hadn't mastered
I coreograph seven steps to Heaven
In Hell waitin' to exhale and make the bread leavened
Veteran of a cold war, in Chica-I-go for
What I know or, what's known
So some days I take the bus home, just to touch home
From the crib I spent months gone
Sat by the window with a clutched dome listenin' to shorties cuss long
Young girls with weak minds, but they butt strong
Tried to call or at least beep the Lord, but didn't have a touch-tone
It's a dog-eat-dog world, you gotta mush on
Some of this land I must own, outta the city, they want us gone
Tearin' down the 'jects, creatin' plush homes
My circumstance is between Cabrini and Love Jones
Surrounded by hate, yet I love home
Ask my God how he thought travellin' the world sound
Found it hard to imagine, he hadn't been past downtown
It's deep, I heard the city breathe in its sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep
Deep, I heard my man breathe in his sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep

[Chorus-Mos Def]
So much on my mind, I just can't recline
Blastin' holes in the night 'til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars and shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo, how the bass ride out like an ancient matin' call?
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathin'
Chest heavin', against the flesh of the evenin'
Kiss the Ide's goodbye, I'm on the last train leavin'

I dont think I really have one set in stone but Im gonna go with Nas- the World is Yours. After I bought Illmatic and listened to it all the way through, I knew the power of hip hop. That song is my favorite song like every other month, but my favorite hip hop song has changes often.

10-29-2005, 10:10 AM
canibus - poet laureate 2, this song is so fucking nice, ill beats (love the beat changes), and the changes in persona and the rhyming blow my mind.

Nas - The World is Yours,
heard it around the time I got into hip-hop about 2 or 3 years ago... always liked it but eventually became my favourite song. After all that listening the lyrics still hit me like "ah, never got that before." I lot of songs are like that, but The World is Yours is just perfect all round.

10-29-2005, 01:51 PM
