OK, 2011 finished. Overall, pretty great year for hip-hop (IF you don't limit yourself to only mainstream releases). A good number of things I enjoyed, and even more I was surprised at how much I like it. Limiting my list to only 10 releases these are the ones that I enjoyed the most. In no particular order...

Albums of the Year
--------------------------
Bronze Nazareth - School of the Blind
Childish Gambino - Camp
Common - The Dreamer The Believer
Cunninlynguists - Oneirology
Kendrick Lamar - Section 80
Pharoahe Monch - W.A.R. (We Are Renegades)
Phonte - Charity Starts At Home
Raekwon - Shaolin vs Wu-Tang
The Roots - Undun
Ryu Black - Perfect TEN

As a bonus, I have to mention the best mixtape of 2011

Mixtape of the Year
--------------------------
Big K.R.I.T - Return of 4Eva

I seriously thought this was an album, but apparently this is a free mixtape. Well worth going out of your way to hear.

Tight list, just remember the KRIT release was a mixtape, not an album. It certainly feels like an album, and is one of the best releases of the year, no doubt. Incredible he released it completely for free.

word. at this point mixtapes are becoming just as good as albums. rae even got his recent shit mastered up nicely. so its really all the same to me. especially as good albums become rare.

kendrick lamar is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And really, based on your post record you don't stand out as someone that would be smart enough for a brilliant album like Kendrick's. Just keeping it 100.

the real problem with music in the last few years is the shit mixing/mastering

thats one of the big reason music sucks shit nowadays , its all digital shit that sucks the life from everything.

to the producers and emcees, legends or up n comers................ work on your mixing/mastering or PAY for the service

get a fuckin engineer, as far as i know Choco still alive and been doing it for years. pay the man god damn it
