06-20-2005, 11:50 PM
i heard alot of cats sayin this was a mediocre album, i thought they needed to be shot point blank with a 12 gauge (a big shotgun for u illiterate folk). every track on the album is a classic to me, i'm listening to My country, (song on the album) right now, and the shit is dope.

what the hell does the internet corp think??

Amazing album, it's what kept Nas relevant in the new millenium.

06-21-2005, 12:53 AM
I think its 2nd to Stillmatic on his list.

My favorite song is "Poison"

06-21-2005, 12:56 AM
I think STILLMATIC is one of the most overated albums ever.........like the SAUCE gave it 5 MICS??? IT WAS WRITTEN is miles ahead of this record...... the last 4-5 songs on STILLMATIC are trash.......BRAVEHEART PARTY???? shit is horrible.........

...I think GODS SON is better

06-21-2005, 02:17 AM
I love the album one of few albums I can let play all the way through. i think people needs to stop comparing the past to the present and compare the present to the present. Look at what's out and then compare it to other albums not his past work. Like wu tang 36 cant be compared to anything that's not in that era. of course it was written was light years ahead of it but so was the game at that time compared to the game now

06-21-2005, 02:20 AM
i think its a solid album, it def brought life back to nas' dying career

06-21-2005, 04:53 AM
Naw the shits nice man

06-21-2005, 04:56 AM
rewind was seriously amazing

Its a good fucking album

06-21-2005, 07:29 AM
What do I think??? I think it's a fucking classic. At the time that album was released commercial hip-hop was on the uprise and is still on the uprise today, shits taken over, but regardless... Nas bought it back to the real on that joint, pure illness, definitely a modern day classic anyway. ONE

06-21-2005, 09:52 AM
I think the 2nd of the CD had fillers on it. After 1 Mic it all falls down from there out lol. I don't think it was a classic CD. I think it was a 4 Mic CD though. I think it's Nas 4th best CD behind his first 3 and just above Lost Tapes only cause Lost Tapes wasn't really a new CD.

06-21-2005, 10:12 AM
strait sick....i think ima toss taht shti in now....My Country was my fav song on the album

06-21-2005, 10:15 AM
Nah, it ain't a classic. It's a classic up to 'The Flyest', then after that the quality goes down to mediocre (except for that last joint and the bonus track which are great).

Stillmatic > God's Son

06-21-2005, 01:03 PM
its a good album...braveheart party isnt good though, but luckily thats a song that wasn't on some releases of stillmatic. other than that, its fairly solid.

06-21-2005, 01:18 PM
i liked 1 mic alot...he had so much energy and u cud really hear the passion in his voice

06-21-2005, 03:04 PM
i like all of the Nas albums.....all of thems dope

06-21-2005, 04:01 PM
my country and rewind are lyrical scribes to me

06-21-2005, 05:59 PM
He's the true thug poet; checkout Rewind - shit speaks for itself

06-21-2005, 07:18 PM
hey, i like the perceptionists too

Last 4-5 are terrible? Are you serious?

My skin is a art gallery, right - with paintings of crucifixes
Hopin' to save me from all the dangers in the music business
Was once a young gangsta hangin' with youth offenders
But since I tasted paper it started losin the friendships
Watchin' kids freeze in winters, they still poor
How could I tease them with Benz's and feel no remorse
Drivin' past them in the lively fashion, diamond colors clashin'
Red stones, blue stones, red bones and black ones
Fuck did I expect with bucket seats in a Lex
And spendin' time in Chuckie Cheese with Little Des
Got guns when I'm with my daughter
Hate to bring a violent aura in her presence
She knows what daddy taught her, it's lessons
Black princess it's a ugly world
I put my life up for yours, see I love that girl
Could you believe even my shadow's jealous
My skin is mad at my flesh, my flesh hates my own bones
My brain hates my heart, my heart makes the songs
Though my songs come from the Father
I'm lonely...
Hold me, it's gettin' darker

album is thoro, anyone who dont like it needs they head checked 4.5 mics

06-22-2005, 01:18 AM
after hearing all i heard about it before listening to it, i expected more... the albums a good album, i ended up liking it for the most part, but i cant listen to one mic... like.. i feel the need to skip that song, and theres a few other skippable tracks. for the most part the cd is a good listen, but nowhere near a classic. if you look at the fact that he was so big at the time, and was able to put out something so real and still have it sell. the thing that held it back i think was some of the beats, they seemed a bit rough and mainstream, but oh well.

06-22-2005, 08:05 AM
yeah i feel you on some of the beats being mediocre, like i think they could of picked a better one for rewind

06-22-2005, 09:56 AM
rewind was seriously amazing
Rewind is amazing. I didnt bust a nut over this album, but I like it and get it out from time to time and listen to it in the car.

album is classic. no doubt

06-24-2005, 12:41 PM
It's a nice album no doubt, but I don't think it's that good. Stillmatic, Rewind, My Country and One Mic are my favourites, the rest isn't too great to me. I didn't like the beats much.

06-24-2005, 02:44 PM
it's a classic wit one flaw-braveheart party is a wack song but they did take it off the cd eventually because of the beef between jay & nas cuz it was on mary's album 2 and was gonna use it as a single supposedly

06-24-2005, 03:16 PM
thanks for showin love to one of the most lryrical mc's of our time

(meth is another great too, in my opinion)

06-24-2005, 03:45 PM
Fucken classic, and I mean real classic(OBFCL, 36 chambers, ready to die, wu-forever, illmatic) that type of classic. From start to end amazing. Soooo many quotables. "Poison" is a song that made me think before I do. "Ether" could not have had a better title because it looked like Jay-Z was fucked up on cocaine after that song(looking weak like a Fein). Last classic to drop along with "The Fix" Scarface. Dam I miss this type of hiphop.

06-24-2005, 07:33 PM
Nas was pressured by the media and by his fans to make a good album, after Jay-Z dissed him. He certainly did not dissapoint with Stillmatic! I don't really like to use the "C" word, but with this one I have it. It's a classic, because he proved everybody wrong and came back harder than expected, and Ether had a big impact on the Hip Hop community and the history. Very good album

06-24-2005, 07:47 PM

06-24-2005, 07:50 PM
This is my favorite album of all time!

01 - Stillmatic: The Intro
02 - Ether
03 - Got Ur Self A...
04 - Smokin'
05 - You're Da Man
06 - Rewind
07 - One Mic
08 - 2nd Childhood
09 - Destroy & Rebuild
10 - The Flyest
11 - Rule
12 - My Country
13 - What Goes Around
Bonus Track: Every Ghetto

huh... i've never heard braveheart party. oh well. only song I didn't love was Rule, I hate it when he pulls that shit... just like most of God's Son and Street's Disciple
i like every record on that shit B

my favorite album right now (just bought it the day i made this thread, i'd heard it all the time but never bought it, so i went to best buy and had my stepdad run it and cop dat shit, listening to ether right now)

06-24-2005, 07:51 PM
i digg Nas....i got all his albums plus the hidden ish.....but he startin to bore me big time for real....he keep repeatin tha same concepts.....
It might jus be me....

This is another Nas classic for me. Smoking gets alot of hate, when I feel Nas was very good on the track. Only Nas can rock these mellow track and make them enjoyable to listen to. If I had to pick one oustanding song (which is extremely hard) it would be What's Goes Around/Poison. He composed a classic song by breakind down the ill of this society. He should of released this as a single.

My only complaint is BraveHeart Party? Thank God, when I bought another Stillmatic, this song was not on the album.

Note to Nas "KEEP KELIS AND BRAVEHEARTS (although Zone Out was nice) OFF YOUR ALBUMS"

06-25-2005, 12:20 PM
poison is my favorite song on the album (aside from ether and my country)

06-26-2005, 03:36 AM
Destroy & Rebuild

07-03-2005, 07:55 AM
stillmatic is definitely NaS's 3d bets album, does not compare to illmatic or it was written (which is sic)

07-03-2005, 10:36 AM
I was listening to this earlier, I still think there could have been some better beats on the second half of the album, but lyrically he keeps a good standard.
I like it more than God's Son, mabye because I used to listen to that so much I got sick of it...

07-03-2005, 10:42 AM
first there was illmatic, then STILLmatic? umm whats wrong with these title's 8) he wasnt Stillmatic.

07-03-2005, 10:50 AM
It is a good album it brings more diverse ideas than any of his other shits oh and that rewind and the intro were amazing

"Braveheart Party" pissed me off...When I saw Mary J.'s name as the feature, I was psyched as hell, expecting some queen of Hip-Hop soul...what I got was a GARBAGE HOOK!

07-03-2005, 01:41 PM
Classic album for me.....The Flyest, Ether & One Mic are my favourites

07-03-2005, 04:05 PM
A Classic, and my version didnt come with Braveheart party, so i dont count that.

5 Incredible songs, the rest are all great

Youre Da Man, Rewind, One Mic, 2nd Childhood, What Goes Around.
