Can anybody explain to me the origin of both flags, why they are so similar and what the colours on each mean?

Cooperation between cuban and puerto ricane exiles in NEW YORK that opposed SPAIN in the mid 1890's. The Cuban Revolutionary Party and the PUERTO RICAO SECTION merged to come together in manhattan to design the flags of cuba and puerto rico. The final model was a rectangle divided into frive stripes and a triangle dotted by a single white star in its center. To differntiate one flag from the other, they simply inverted the colors............ and thus the revolution had began for puerto ricans to plan thier own military expedition against the spaniards.
