J Dilla died this morning....RIP. One of the greatest producers ever

according to Wilkipedia it was a suicide:

"Jay Dee passed away on February 10, 2006, from a self inflicted gun shot wound."

EDIT: The cause of death hasn't been confirmed yet...and somebody erased that stuff about the suicide on Wilkipedia so i wouldn't take that too seriously.

Rest in Peace Jay Dee. One of my alltime favourite producers. Damn, why did he die? I canīt believe it. This really hit me.

I always wanted him to have more success. Damn, I wanted him to blow up like he deserved it. ATCQ, Pharcyde - he produced classics. Jaylib was awesome, too. Donīt forget about "Welcome 2 Detroit". I love his kinda dirty and raw-sampled, yet soulful beats!!

This makes me sad. I hope he didnt commit suicide.

This man deserves so much fucking respect he's not gonna get. He produced and toured despite being sick as fuck and put out some of the hottest beats of his life in his final days. I'm just now appreciating everything Jay-Dee brought to the game. R.I.P.

I felt bad at his concert in october, when he was performing in his wheel chair. He was one of the biggest producers, and we'll truly miss him!

Not long ago, Jay Dee answered a few rumors in XXL:
"I went overseas for two weeks and was eatin' all this crazy-ass food. As soon as I got back, I had the flu or something, and I had to check myself into the hospital. Then they (doctors) [found] out I had a ruptured kidney and was malnourished from not eatin' the right kinda food. It was real simple, but it ended with me being in the hospital."
Jay Dee passed around 8:00 this morning at his home in California. James (J-Dilla) Yancey will forever be remembered as one of the greatest producers in Hip-Hop.
We'd like to send our condolences to Jay Dee's family, Rest In Peace Dilla...

Here's an email from another legendary DJ, DJ Premier:
"for those that really know HIP HOP.......this goes out to Jay Dee who we know as J Dilla formerly of the group Slum Village who left this earth this morning in California.......Although he was from Detroit, he was very sicc lately and just finished touring the world under the circumstances...........True Warrrior and on of the hottest producers in the world of Hip Hop..........Rest In Peace My Dude.....You aint sicc no more.....DJ Premier "

I was just doing some poetry stuff for school, and found something from a Robert Frost piece that seems applicable to Jay Dee:

"And I keep hearing from the cellar-bin
That rumbling sound
Of load on load of apples coming in.
For I have had too much
Of apple-picking; I am overtired
Of the great harvest I myself desired."

02-11-2006, 04:29 PM
he will live on through the music

Rest in Peace to one of my most favorite producers, Jay Dee aka J-Dilla. It's a damn shame to see you go. You truly loved Hip-Hop like no other, you were sick as fuck and still came on the stage, even you're wheelchair you rocked the show. Condolences go out to your family. No one else can ever fill the rank that you held in Hip-Hop. From producing for A Tribe Called Quest to the Pharacyde, to Slum Village. Your producing skills were one of a kind, so diverse and so gifted. REST IN PEACE James "Jay Dee" Yancey. You will be missed, by everyone...

Scratch magazine gave a nice, little tribute to the late, great J. Dilla.
