Each poem has a certain amount of meters, depending on the way which a poet expresses.
There are different selections of poetry, but the main categories are:

FEMININE Poetry : which is according to rhymes such as "ailing" and "failing"
MASCULINE Poetry : rhymes with words such as "amend" and "pretend".......

- Though it does not mean a poet is continuous in writing a certain method, yet these are just classifications. These are some of the number of meters known in Poetry :
Monometer - Which is One Tap;
Dimeter - which is Two Tap;
Trimeter - which is Three Tap;
Tetrameter - which is Four Tap;
Pentameter - which is Five Tap;
Hexameter - which is Six Tap...

A meter is the measured rhythm of a line of verse, it is a series of lines of verse in which each line has the same number of strong beats (Places where the voice of the reader stresses a word or syllable of a word "rhymes")........ Other types of poetry (Elegiac, Epic, Narrative, Ballad, Dramatic, Diadactic and Ode Poetry), in Hip Hop ( Commercial, Solo, Gangster, Hardcore and Underground) whilst there are more types not mentioned than said; recognition of the Prosody within the Poetic world remains and is respected!!

that third line you get there kinda leaves it haning, with some beat left over in the next bar, it's assymetrical, although I've heard rappers using a single line to bridge to the next set of rhymes. not sure how that works

After you get the basics down, the most imprtant thing is to make ya shit bomb hard. It's a known fact that not every line has to ATTACK somethin or somebody at the end of it. As long as it takes a reader more than .5 seconds to comprehend that tha fuck you just said, you know youre doin good. Another thing: dont try to make your rhyme too deep, cuz if you're not deep-minded, then it just comes out as shit. SERIOUSLY. No offense to anyone, but those who know nothing talk about nothing.

Some good advice: read book. read the news. watch some shit on the discovery channel that you've never seen before. etc. That kind of knowledge is the shit that impresses mutherfuckers the most, especially when it's linked to something their familiar with. THATS when your mind gets deeper.
