Ya KWELI is dope.......he really droppd the ball though with the BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE, which I consider one of the worst hip hop albums of all time in terms "dissapointment level", right there beside METHOD MAN's PREQUEL album......especially when he had alot of hype before that album came out....like "I TRY" is almost the exact song as "Get By", he tried to get a hit making the same song twice, plus the rest of the album had throw away trash NEPTUNES beats, and KWELI trying to make "dance" music....when he aint a club rapper

.....but ya I have seen hime twice in concert and he is ill

BLACK STARR album=classic
REFLECTION ETERNAL=classic
QUALITY=4/5
Beautiful Struggle=2.5/5

Some ppl just think that kweli is only a consciouse mc but hes got a ton of battle rhymes, like this verse from some kind of wonderful u could easily put that on a battle track against other MCs

I'll take your style and embarras it with
Words beautifully written like Arabic
Got niggas on the run 'cause the fire like chariot
Introduce pen skills to ill deliveries and married it
Put it in your face like big gats and carried it like Harriet
Various crews tried to bury us
But we shut 'em down like Sagiterious with
That wack shit money you can't be serious
You niggas is hilarious actresses
Runnin around the club pissy like ghetto matresses
That's why I smack these kids back to reality
And how it be in actuality
With ready to battle MCs who skip the fuckin' formailties
We spark it in any club or meat market
Sweet artists don't come on the block they become street targets
If you want it I got it, come get it I'm with it
Your career will be shorter than a midget
And the world will know who did it
I smack up these ho ass MCs like a gorilla pimp
You comin' out the box like a gimp, money you still a wimp
My shit blow out filaments and light fixtures
With the right mixture of words used as colors
To paint the right picture
Graphic masterpieces your whole shit is smashed to pieces
Make you look at your man who rhyme and be like, "you not nasty like he is"
Believe this when you see this, and don't fuck with
Me either, 'cuz you'll be down where my feet is
Curled up in the fetus
Cryin' from the kicks, watch when I flip
People gonna be buyin' my shit like fiends dyin' for a hit, so...

He was one of, if not my favourite at one point. Then he put out Quality and it wasn't a banger from beginning to end and he's gone downhill faster than a snowboarder on speed. His early stuff with Hi-Tek is all-time classic status shit. Rawkus Records...does that bring back memories or what!?

Kweli is one of the best alive and one of the best all-time. I'd like him to put out stuff as classic as Reflection Eternal(one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever) again, or even Quality level, which wasn't a 10/10 but had some bangers and one of his best tracks in Get By.
Hopefully his next album will be a solid effort(The next Blackstar?)

Anyone who isn't appreciating Kweli as one of the best alive needs to take the backpack elsewhere.

My style high life like Fonz when I burn heads like a conk
Cuz niggaz front, when their chances get slim like Pharoahe Monch
Thinkin' they shits is heavy when they light like ilumination
Intellectual masturbation with premature ejaculation
I'm comin' cleaner than vaccinations
My fascination with character assassination,
Got these niggaz burnin' like sensation
We keep it hot like matches and on lock like latches
Wack emcees get they microphones snatched like Lee patches
So YOU GO! To every wack muthafucka that you know (Scram...)
My lyrics they get up in your genes/jeans like Parasucos
So there's no mystery about the father, niggaz is hot and bothered
Like the bitches that they are, takin' pictures with stars
And got 'em open, but after they little hopes and dreams get broken
Me and Hi-Tek, we live long and prosper like Vulcans
Think I'm jokin'? We both got sons, we make cream and break dreams
See through the fake schemes, wipin' your slate clean
Like a squeegee, we be lightin' shit up like phosphorus
Turnin' flamboyant niggaz anonymous, depressin' to optimus
You stoppin' us is preposterous, like an androgenous masohganist
You pickin' the wrong time, steppin' to me when I'm in my prime like Optimus
Transformin', from rookie of the year to veteran
Hip-hop is big business like Con Edison or medicine
But fuck it, they gonna let us in, or else we rush the door
I got to many reasons, save your 'whys' and 'what fors'

In my vision Talib is one of the few that keeps to the raw roots of hip hop. I remember the time when he did a couple of tracks with Kanye, Talib murdered him on every track. Talib is one of the strongest if not THE strongest lyricist active today but he has also has the most skilled flows i've heard in a long time. Black Star murder every top mainstream/underground rapper out there.

If he had tha proper production he would be compleate. He is very capable of releasing a utter classic. He got fucked with the worst beat on mouse and the mask. Wonder if he chose to spit on it or if it was a deal of just knockin it out, like that track was his only option. I got mad TK all up in my PC and I know what I'm sayin. Dude is gettin fucked on tha production. All tha best for him though. Mos an him should put out another album. Anybody know what up w/ that?

One.
