i dont mean to offend anyone
i'm just callin it how i see it
but god in the bible seems
to have low self esteem

first it was god is a jealous god
then he destroyed babel
because of what people wasnt praising him
i may be wrong but i'm going off of church experiences
and reading some of the bible

i know people are going to kill me for this
but thats how i feel
do anyone have anything to back me up or go against what i'm saying

notice also how the biblical god bribes people to do good. that is you get to go to heaven for doing what is morally good. but think about it, if you see an old lady crossing the street and I say I'll give you $20 if you help her, are you being a morla person, or are you just being selfish? you should help the old lady regrdless of whether I give you the money, and regardless of whether you get to go to heaven. moral actions are moral only when they are done out of conviction and not from expectaion of reward.

all that is true
but the tower of babel thing still troubles me
to my knowledge the world was a good place
when the tower got erected
the only thing was that the people wasnt praising god

one story out of many does not necessarily attribute God entirely.

God does not need our praises, we need him, if you are religious that is.
what use do our praises have on God?

Look at it like this. "God" said search and ye shall find, right?

Praising "God" means gaining knowledge wisdom and Understanding by studying....searching for truth and living truth is how you 'praise' God.

I see the story as a metaphor that described the need for the people to elevate their understanding of the knowledge of the Truth (God).

Wisdom is when you speak your knowledge....so for the people to not be able to speak with each other becuase "god" was not happy with them means, to me, that their wisdom was not suffecient, and it needed to be elevated.

as i said, God does not love himself, and needs no praises from us.
he loves us and destroyed it in order to pave the way for people to come to him as God knows that his way is the best WAY. people do not have to pray to God, yet merely walk on a path which is safe.

this can be understood best if you are religious at the end of the day,
perhaps anyway!

why try to wrap your mind around enigmas in a book written by supersticious people?
