Good album, some very dark shit, not necessarily better than the infamous album but it's far from weak too, I say this is mobb deeps second best album, a classic continuation of a classic.

I gave it a 9.

This is pretty close to the infamous and the beats on this album are havs dark best.

My favourite track is "can't get enough of it"

Hard album. I love the joint Drop A Gem On Em. That beat is so hard. They dissed 2Pac hard on that joint. I think Mobb Deep beat 2Pac with the diss songs they did about each other. Extortion, More Trife Life, Still Shinin, G.O.D. Pt III are my other favorite joints.

Ghost In The 'Lac

my favourite tarck is "can't get enough of it"

Thats the ONLY track i think shouldve been left off the album. It cant match up withthe rest of them on there, its not quite skippable, but its close.

Apart from that every track on the album is classic, but Still Shinin, Trife Life, Apostles Warning, Hell ON Earth and GOD pt III are my favrits

8.5/10, imo this album has some better tracks then The Imfamous such as Man Down, Drop A Gem On Em, Extortion.....i love nightmare vultures that shit is so dark and grimey, thats what is good about this album, the darkest Mobb album, whereas The Imfamous prolly had more variety. One or two weaker tracks prevent it bin classic

A classic is 10/10 so how are you calling an album 9/10 and a classic

I seldomly rate albums 10/10. If I rate a album 8,5/10... then it's a classic ;)

So 9/10 is a classic too.

Playing this again now, what a brilliant album. Technically superior to the infamous yet somehow less memorable. Probably due to the surprise factor of it being their first real album. Apostles Warning may be Prodigy at his absolute best. Beats more sinister than the Infamous. I love this album. I have played it out so much that I had to get a new one.

A good album but not on par with the Infamous. Lyrically they were at their finest there (especially Prodigy, damn this dude could rhyme... and damn he fell off, almost unbelievable). Some of the lyrics are so complex I actually had to go read them. I think most wannabe hip-hop fanatics would find them impossible to understand.

But the beats were disrupting me... Some of them were sounding like OB4CL throwaways, and some of them were making me cover my head and cry, not to go out and score some kills, like The Infamous. So I gave it 8/10, although most precise grade would be 8.5/10.

Best track: G.O.D.Father Pt. III, unbelievable lyrics and unbelievable beat.

I give it a 8/10

Prodigy on the last verse of Hell And Earth and also him on Shill Shinin' are definetely top 3 for me in verses of all time (with his verses on Gusto with A+ being number 1 to me).

Overall, the album was very cohesive from beginning to end. The only that I wished was that Pac didn't die so we could have heard the other 2-3 tracks that were suppose to be on the album but were scraped and DESTROYED once he died. I remember when Pac died they had Havoc on channel 9 news in NY and he stated that they destoryed all the songs dissin' Pac instead of Drop A Gem on Em because that already had dropped before he died.

Anyways, tracks like Godfather III, Nighttime Vultures, Animal Instinct, Extortion, Can't get Enough, etc. this is a solid album. Not has good as the Infamous, but definetely they're 2nd best album with Murda Muzik in 3rd.

10/10
I like this better than Infamous. There are no individual songs that stand out as classics like "Survival of the Fittest" or "Shook Ones", but from start to finish the album as a whole is superior imo. Prodigy is at his ultimate peak on this album like Tyson vs Spinks in 88, and Hav destroys every track. I close my eyes and still see myself on the bus and walking home from school bumping this in the walkman. I miss 96:'(

i know this is an old thread, but i bring it back for a point.

there is so much debate now about P and whether he still "has it". my opinion, i'm not a fan of P at all anymore. i cant even express how disappointed i was w/ "HNIC". he finally gets his solo chance and he out of the blue....stops RHYMING!!!!!.....just like cappadonna. what kind of decision is that, and how do they come to that??? P used to be one of my 3 fave MCs outside of wu. after HNIC, i only heard a few more songs from him and realized he was gonna maintain that style, and i never checked for him again. he's never gone back to rhyming, and i just dont dig it at all. i gotta admit though, i do love "keep it thoro".

"hell on earth" is where P was an MC. this is P at his best. one of the best MC performances in history, to me, is P on this album. check his verse on "apostles warning" - fucking absolutely mind-blowing, disgustingly sick. thats one of his 3 best verses, along w/ "shook ones pt. 2" and "quiet storm".

although my ears cant stand P nowadays, i put him in the hall of fame just for:
'the infamous'
'hell on earth'
'murda muzik'

I've always considered The Infamous to be their best cd but right now I think this one is their best cd , mostly cuz of the lyrics who have clearly been improved and the whole atmosphere on this one is better as well.

CharlesJones
03-07-2009, 11:58 AM
The Infamous is better than Hell On Earth to me. Hell On Earth had several songs i didn't like. My favorites are Drop A Gem On Em(beat is hard and they shitted on 2Pac. They're the only rappers who weren't scared to respond to 2Pac's disses.), Bloodsport, the song they did with Method Man, More Trife Life, Hell On Earth, Still Shinin. In The Long Run song that they dissed Keith Murray was supposed to be on the album. That's a hard song and a hard beat.

Afficial_Nastee

In The Long Run song that they dissed Keith Murray was supposed to be on the album.

But I've heard they got smacked by Redman and his Def Squad cuz of that track....

9/10 classic cd

CharlesJones
03-15-2009, 01:27 PM
Afficial Nastee i didn't hear anything about them getting beat up by Def Squad for that diss song. Prodigy says on In The Long Run song that Keith Murray snuffed him in front of the cops but when i read a Keith interview awhile ago, he said he didn't punch Prodigy in front of the cops. He said what sense would it make for him to hit Prodigy in front of the cops when the cops would've arrested him if he had done that? Keith has a couple of songs on his Kickin Ass mixtape dissing Prodigy and they're good. I wonder how Prodigy and Keith beef started. I heard they first started having differences when they appeared on LL Cool J's I Shot Ya remix and i don't know why. They need to be getting together to do some songs instead of beefing because both of them are good rappers. It trips me out how rappers waste time hating one another when they need to be collaborating together and getting that money. I wonder if Prodigy and Keith were in the studio at the same time when they rapped on KRS One's 5 Boroughs song. I'm sure they weren't because if they were, they probably would've been fighting.

CharlesJones
03-15-2009, 01:29 PM
I also think Prodigy might've dissed Redman and Keith Murray on Mobb Deep's skit on The Infamous album when Prodigy says to all ya'll fake ass rappers talking about how much you get high, how much weed you smoke and that crazy space shit that don't make no sense, don't speak to me when you see me. When he said crazy space shit, i think he might've been dissing Redman and Keith because Redman talked about outerspace stuff on Dare Iz A Darkside album and Keith rapped about outerspace also on his Escapism song on his first album.

Good album, some very dark shit, not necessarily better than the infamous album but it's far from weak too, I say this is mobb deeps second best album, a classic continuation of a classic.

listened to this classic just yesterday actually, damn Mobb Deep was some of the greatest cats back in the day. all the production on here is FIRE and lyrically Prodigy and Havoc both ranked as great MC's in my eyes - especially P was criminally dope. the only problem is that some of the production can get a little repetitive since all tracks more or less follow the same formula but hard to complain when the formula works this fucking well...

9.25/10
