emo is people with faggoty hair and lots of eyemakeup who slit their wrists because they think no1 loves them (which is true)
and then they write songs about it and become stars for all the young MTV watchers.
pathetic.

old emo circa mid-80s to early 90s was actually wicked good hardcore. some great bands that if people heard today people would be like "wtf this isn't emo." straight up screamy hardcore. but yeah punk and hardcore is all i listen to, nonstop 24/7. got tons of good thrash and shit on my comp from all eras and countries plus tons o' vinyl.

awesome man. i'm checkin your shit, lots of good stuff here: pg 99, city of caterpillar, saetia, combatwounded veteran. some good bands. i have lots of rare pg 99 records. a great band like that is Jeromes Dream, who fucking rip.

ah yes i listen to them too. theyre hard to get into because of the recordings. i heard they recorded the vocals with the mic on the floor. and yeah i was recently debating on whether or not to buy the discography.

TSOL is great. another band from that era/region is SOCIAL UNREST. totally snotty hardcore punk. they got a different singer after like 11 songs but he is ok too. but their first 11 or so songs are some of the rawest 80s punk around

and HTE, i keep hearing about merauder...for some reason I've gotten the idea they're wicked metal (moreso than most modern NYHC). can you upload a track maybe? i have a demo tape of a side project of one of the merauder dudes and its straight brutal hardcore.

final descent is great too, but probably the weakest of all samhain. it is a lot more metal than the other stuff, because it was all written and recorded right before Danzig formed Danzig. it's still pretty rad though, especially "death in its arms" and "lords of the left hand."

i'm not sure that they used a drum machine. in the liner notes, Danzig is credited with the drums. he's played drums before ("who killed marilyn"). doesn't really sound like a drum machine. but either way it's good.

static age is great, has one of my favorite misfits songs "theme for a jackal." all of my samhain is in apple audio files so i'll have to convert them to mp3 before uploading for people here. if .m4a files are alright for people let me know.

i don't think 12 hits was remastered versions.

what 12 hits from hell is is kinda like static age, they recorded an album and the record label crapped out on them and they had to release it like 20 years later instead.

the thing about twelve hits as opposed to static age though is that the label crapped out AGAIN and destroyed like 10 000 copies they had manufactured of it and it STILL isn't out

The album was called 12 Hits From Hell - the MSP Sessions. It was recorded before Walk Among Us. It was remixed and pressed without the Misfits knowledge. Once Glenn and co. heard the final mixes and saw everything put together they did not approve the release. Caroline had to destroy all of the copies - except a few got loose...maybe a thousand.

There are represses of it with the original cover but they are fakes. All of the originals are CDs -not LPs. I own an original copy of the CD, it cost me $85.00.

There are quite a lot of raw, abrasive, experimental bands with definite similarities to Wu-Tang's musical approach that don't get the props they deserve.

If you don't fear raw music (if you do, why are you here?), I'd seriously recommend checking out these albums:

Can - Monster Movie / Tago Mago
The Fall - Perverted By Language
Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box
Dead Kennedys - Holiday To Cambodia
Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come
Gang of Four - Entertainment!

Rough around the edges, emotional and real...

the OLC shit is just more of the same really. some pretty awesome riffs. "pure disgust part 2" is "murdario stomp" + "pure disgust" with a lot of tough guy blabber (pretty rad though). if you can find it, download "shiv in the back." it's furious old-school hardcore, probably my favorite OLC riff.

tony victory used that incident as his reason for dropping them; OLC-defenders would argue that they were dropped because people were gonna boycott victory otherwise. a band-involved beatdown on a little kid is pretty pathetic though.
