This one is really hard to choose. I respect J Dilla (R.I.P.)...his beats are soo dope. If he had a longer legacy like Pete Rock ..then I might go with Dilla....but Pete Rock is Pete Rock so he wins this one.

Definitely Pete Rock IMO. I dunno why but I really don't feel J Dilla beats... I couldn't really compare though cause I only heard few material from J Dilla. I've heard beats from him on It Ain't Safe No More, and didn't really like. His tracks on Fishscale were average IMO.

Maybe I need to listen to more of his shit. Could someone list some of his best work maybe ?

pete rock no contest. dilla is dope no doubt, but rock has been in the game for ever. he has a much larger and more respectful cataluge. not to mention how many entire full lenght LPs he's done. Dilla is definitly is a GOAT producer but it's pete muthafuckin rock you're comparing him too. the man is a legend, not to mention hes not too shabby /w the mic eather and is godly /w the tabels
