Question for people with iPod-video

So I just got that iPod-video, but I obviously need some program to convert music videos etc. to MPEG4 which is the format that's used for videos for the ipod.. so my question for the people who got one is which program should I use, cause some of the programs that I have found so far seems filled up with spy-ware.. and do I even need a program? Or is there a function in itunes?
