Others who have listened to it all the way...post up how you feel about this new release. Lyrics are on point..the beats are not bad at all actually.

listening to it now , nearly finished, the mixtape sort of gets worse towards the end, but its still the best wu album/mixtape of 2006, Ins's new album looks promising now.

01: Sound of the Slums (feat. Masta Killa) / Prod. by Concrete Beats
I love this beat, real banging...
im just pissed that Masta raps the same verse as on "east mc's", it seems to me he has become a bit lazy, recycling beats and rhymes. Oh well, as long as he doesn't become the next Dreddy, "My clan is thick like plaster, bust ya, slash ya" haha...
but anyway, this is crazy.
4.5/5
02: C.R.E.E.P.S. / Prod. by Mondee
Nah, this not good. The beat kinda is weak and scary, and INS' flow is not good. Good concept though...It's decent
2/5
03: What They Want / Prod. by Mondee
I fucking love this track. Everything about this is flames.
5/5
04: Get Ya Weight Up / Prod. by Inspectah Deck
Sounds like it's a leftover from "the movement". It's a typical INS beat, but below his average. The rhymes is pretty nice though
2.5/5
05: Interlude 1
06: It's Not a Game (feat. House Gang & Suga Bang Bang) / Prod. by Mondee
now it's time for House Gang. I really like them, they are all talented. But this track is a bit of a mess, the beat is okay, but the chorus is wack. The verses is nice though...
2.5/5
07: Interlude 2
08: My Style / Prod. by Inspectah Deck
I really like this, a nice beat. And some crazy darts. That's what it's all about.
4.5/5
09: All I Want is Mine / Prod. by Mondee
A solid track. Mondee overdid the sample a bit, but INS does his thing with it.
3/5
10: A Lil' Story / Prod. by RZA
Amazing wu banger. Ya'll know it. SICK!
5/5
11: Get Down Wit Me / Prod. by Cilvaringz
I fucking love this. Banging ass beat as usual from Ringz, he got beats! The premo interlude is already classic, and INS shouts out the wu. It's just sooo NICE!
5/5
12: I.O.U. / Prod. by Flowers
Sounds like a dipset beat, i like it a lot. INS does his thing
4/5
13: No Love (feat. Carlton Fisk & Chico Debarge) / Prod. by Marksmen
I like this a lot, both deck & fisk is crazy on it! it has some nice singing, it's a really nice laid back joint
5/5
14: Grits Freestyle / Prod. by Live Son
WOW! This is a crazy "freestyle". Great beat as well...banging!
5/5
15: Do My Thang / Prod. by Psycho LES
This is garbage, most likely the worst beatnuts beat i've ever heard. SKIP IT!
0/5
16: Handle That (feat. U-God & Hugh Hef) / Prod. by Mondee
Real nice track. Uey does his thing...i like the beat, but the sample has been used a million times. The chorus is pretty weak, but the INS verse is flames! great track.
4/5
17: Animal Rights (feat. House Gang) / Prod. by Marksmen
I love this track! str8 crack! all it needs is deck! where is he?! Fisk murders it, that dude is sick!
5/5
18: H.G. is My Life (feat. House Gang) / Prod. by Live Son
i really like this, i like Live Son. He has a different style. It's fresh. And once again House Gang does their thing...they are great! Unfortunately Deck is missing from the track, and the singing guy goes a little nuts.
4.5/5
Im very pleasantly surprised. This is only a mixtape, but apart from a few misteps, Deck brought out heat! House Gang is pure and raw dopeness, Fisk is crazy...i hope they drop an album.
I love the fresh sound of the album, it's something different...and it most def shows the fact that wu members doesn't need wu-producers to make a banging album, so you fucking haters shut up! They just need quality beats, and especially Mondee brought heat!
Ya'll gotta pick this up! and DAMN im looking forward to "the rebellion" that shit gotta be pure fire...
peace

Would someone please be kind enough to tell me, what is the difference between an album and a mixtape?

A mixtape is essentially a combo (or mix) of throwaway tracks or freestyles or whatever that won't be on an OFFICIAL album release. Mixtapes also help promote albums.

a SOLID 3.5 (voted four)

Stand outs

Sound Of The Slums - Amazing joint, love the beat and Masta and Deck sound hungry as FUCK 5/5 (ive been playin this all day)

Lil Story - Rza is back and deck is as well, shit is amazing 5/5

CREEPS - Great track, sick mellow beat. 4/5

What they want - Beat changes are incredible and I memorized the lyrics to this one. 5/5

All I Want Is Mine - Love the sample 4.5/5

The rest up until the last three joints are all at least 3.5... but then every track after the U-God joint is blah.

CANT WAIT TO HEAR WHAT DECK IS GONNA BRING TO AN OFFICIAL ALBUM!

He seems to know some dudes who can make some good beats, plus hell have the RZA on his side. I have nothing but high hopes for a new deck LP.

Its a good cd to listen to. I think its made better by the fact that its labelled a mixtape so it doesn't come with the great expectation that the other solo's seem to be coming with. I voted 4 but in reality I would give it a 3.5 as its consistent and enjoyable to listen to.

Only thing that really disappointed me was the sound quality of the cd recording. Easily the poorest quality cd I have ever bought.

I think it's dope. i love the fact that i can play it through. i think there's only 1 track i don't like. Overall = 4.

But as far as mixtape/album arguments are concerned= Deck calls it an album. 99% of the time, mixtapes are sold on burned cd's in slim jewel cases and don't cost $13!!!!!! i bought this at this indie record store i go to. it was the same price as a regular cd, in the regular cd section, but he does have his little MySpace promo on the back of the case. No thank you's. No credits to anything BUT Production. To me it's a hot RECORD, it's definitly not a MIXTAPE but there dosen't seem to be enough effort for it to be an ALBUM. it is what it is.

Honestly...I really don't like the style Deck goes for on his solo albums. RP sounds way to "Movement" for me. His personality is just a lot different for some reason. I don't think his voice has aged well. Many of the beats are nauseating and sound a little "forced," if that makes any sense at all, haha.

Sound of the Slums and A Lil Story are very good tracks.

I think it's a mixtape, cuz the CREEPS track beat was used on Y@k Balzz's album My Claim (track 1 Method to madness) that dropped in 2004, unless Mondee resold the beat to Deck...
Underrated producer too, Mondee, he got heat, if he works with him on the album , I'll be very optimistic

Hell yeah man. Soon as I heard "sound of the slums" I went crazy. Deck does sound hungry and the beat brings back an old school flavor. The sample sounds from an old martial arts movie and the drum beats just sound fantastic unlike most of the new drum beats they use.

Also loved how they incorperated a small cut of the martial arts fighting. Hottest track i've heard in a while.

"What they want" fantastic beat and decks delivery is on point even when the beat does its periodic transition phase which sounds wicked.

Good stuff.

I downloaded a version of "A Lil' Story" a while ago, and buddy at the beginning said "Produced by the RZA". Also, Deck says "RZA, what up?" at the beginning.

I can't stand the last song. I hate it. Is that guy singing the guy who ruined Uncontrolled Substance? Shadii, or whatever? Sounds like it.

The subject matter gets repetitive, as well. I prefer the Braggadaccio Deck over the Hood Deck.

Also, the lack of Wu is rather repulsive. It's OK if there wasn't much Wu on there, but he reps Housegang waaaay too much in comparison to Wu-Tang. Same with Ghost and Theodore Unit.

Other than those minor complaints, it was a good.... mix-album-tape.

Can't wait for The Rebellion.

[SOUND OF THE SLUMS]
It's the sound of the slums, drama with drums
You pop shots with the corks, cause a problem for some
Got the whole city up, floatin' with the semi tuck
Roamin' out of zone, and I'm known in the gritty cuts
And a Wu Killa Bee co-d, dumpin' off
Broad day, no macks, so you know it's me
Notice me, I shine like July sun
Live son, I'm a rider through provide one
Show the CREAM, I bust and blow the scene
In a fast car, kickin' up dust and smoke screen
Hit a nigga hard as Joe Green, his whole team
Feel it, swollen veins, a dope fiend feeling
Coming out the mouth, like you won't be killing
Yeah, you sold three million but you banned on the block
Long guns to your face, pass the mansion and yacht
And you ain't retaliatin' man, you ran to the cops

Not really feelin' this one as a whole. Yeah there's a couple good joints but it loses steam about 4 songs into the album. Certainly not a bad effort but it's both the beats and Deck get's kind of boring...it's another one of those indie albums that try too hard and get lost in the shuffle

Lately i'm bumpin' "uncontrolled substance" alot...and it's my fav deck album...also WAAAYYYYY underrated I think, the beats are fine (above average though) and deck rips it as hard as he does on the clan albums IMO

this album is also very great !!! I love it, but I need to listen to it more

uncontrolled substance was a good album but the movement was terrible imo it was bad an attempt at mainstream sound bumpin n grindin pretty much sums up the album it seems like deck and rza are way too concerned with being accepted by mainstream so they make crappy dance adn fuck songs to do it rza is still my fav and uncontrolled substance will always get spins with me but i read a crtic who said that resident patient continues to follow the formula of the movement so i skipped it sorry deck ill wait for unsung hero

When you can put a cd in and just let it play through - you know you've got something. This one was made for the fans.

Classics taken from the stitches of time include "Sound of the Slums", "My Style", "What They Want" and "A Lil Story". Most of the other tracks are solid enough to make the album a tightly forged sword.

Weakspots are "I.O.U" and "Do My Thang" which seemed ripped from The Movement and don't fit well. There is also an unwanted freestyle and a couple bonus tracks that don't exactly showcase Housegang (who are actually pretty good).

Like The Genius, the guy can't make a bad album. And because Deck pretty much packaged this one up himself - it leaves me wanting more.

Decent street-album from The Rebel INS, a couple of real bangers on here as well as some average stuff. The two bonus-tracks by House Gang is horrible though..

Sound of The Slums (feat. Masta Killa) [4/5]
C.R.E.E.P.S. [3.5/5]
What They Want [4/5]
Get Ya Weight Up [3/5]
It's Not a Game (feat. House Gang) [3/5]
My Style [2/5]
All I Want is Mine [4/5]
A Lil' Story [5/5] *certified Wu-Banga*
Get Down [4/5]
I Owe You [3.5/5]
No Love (feat. Carlton Fisk) [3.5/5]
Grits Freestyle [3.5/5]
Do My Thang [2/5]
Handle That (feat. U-God & wackness) [4/5]
*would be certified wu-banga if not for Hugh Hef*
Animal Rights (House Gang) [1/5]
H.G. is My Life [1/5]

Without the bonus-tracks by House Gang (which really isn't part of the INS album anyway) I would say that this is weaker than Uncontrolled Substance and a bit better than The Movement. Rhymes and flow is on point as always but he often chooses poor or hollow beats, he also need more good guests since his voice can't hold up the whole album (HG doesn't exactly do the trick).
6.5/10

I just listened to this for the first time yesterday

i can't believe how good Deck's beats are. Rza does an amazing job on lil story too

i was also excited when i was familiar with the verse that showed up on 8 diagrams

overall i thought this was a really good album!

^ Same here I enjoy this album pretty much all the way through. All I want is mine is my favorite deck solo track.

That is not a RZA beat though, its a cilvaringz beat and the track that was credited to cilva is a kevlar 7 beat.

this album really surprised me when i got it i had heard a lil story but i can listen to this album all the way through no problem.I would have to say this is his second best album behind only to uncontrolled substance. It has great lyrics and oddly enough great beats my favorite track is get down with me

i cant believe what i'm reading! this album is GARBAGE!!!! this is not anywhere near the level of deck's talent. compare this album to some of deck's best work:
- the city
- cream
- sword play
- above the clouds
- rec room
- for heavens sake
- its yourz
- hollow bones

he's not nearly as creative nor rhyming as good as he's capable of, and this is not nearly as creative or original as "unc. substance".

i aint co-signing this just cause its INS. no way!!! i love deck, and this doesnt even decrease his superiority in my mind, b/c his pedigree is so amazing. but, as we've seen, all the members of wu are not infallible and are capable of dropping a dud.
this album sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i look fwd to him getting back on track w/ his next solo album w/ the help of rza.
(is it evident to anyone else that he WILL be working w/ rza?

Hollow Dartz Review

1. Sound of The Slums (Featuring Masta Killa)
Even though this is short, I think it's still pretty good. The beat on here is just right for Deck and I think he goes in on here showing that he still has some of that skill. Masta Killa steals the show on here though. He is flowing on here and his lines are something to remember on some street shit. 4/5

2.C.R.E.E.P.S.
Seriously how long did it take for Deck to come up with a Meaning for this one? Anyways this one is ok, nothing to special. I'm not really into the hook on here and the lyrics are ok. Beat is aight, I think this is a skippable track. 3.5/5

3.What They Want
This is the first track I heard when this album was released. This is pretty dope. The beat is definitely on point and Deck is flowing on here. You can tell he doesn't have that same feel to him as before but you gotta give him credit on this one. My only problem on here is that it is two verses. He kills it though. 4/5

4.Get Ya Weight Up
I'm feeling this one for some reason. I hate that "Fresh like Tubberware" Line though. Just wack. Besides that I think that this is a pretty good track. 4/5

5.Interlude Pt. 1

6. It's Not A Game
Not feeling this one at all. The beat lacks and Housegang isn't all that great on here. On top of that the Hook is a dud. This could've been better. 3/5

7.Interlude Pt. 2

8.My Style
I'm feeling this one the most "Tear ya face off like Nicholas Cage" Line gets me everytime, it's not even all that hot but it just stands out. Deck just goes in on here and doesn't stop until the song is done. I played this about 4 times in a row before I went on to the next track. This is that shit we need from Deck. 4.5/5

9.All I Want Is Mine
This is a definite slept on track. The talking at the beginning is kind of annoying though. But Deck talks about his street struggles and shit. The theme of this one is very point blank on some U-god Shit. This is definitely slept on, he drops a little gem on here. 4/5

10.A Lil Story
I do not like the Hook on this song, it makes me cut this song off everytime. The beat on here is pretty good and Deck is pretty solid. The Hook just kills it for me on here though. 4/5

11.Get Down With Me
This is a kind of slowed down track. It's still pretty good though. This one is short though, I love the Wu shoutouts on here though and Deck is pretty solid on here so I won't complain at all. 4/5

12.I.O.U.
This shit is TRASH. 1/5

13.No Love (Feat. Carlton Fisk & Chico Debango)
The only part I like about this song is Carlton Fisk, he always seems to deliver something good. Besides that I'm pretty much skipping this one. 3.5/5

14.Grits
This was OK. Nothing really special at all about it, just a quick "Freestyle". Deck didn't spit no Atomically Bomb Dropping shit so this is a skippable joint. 3.5/5

15.Do My Thang
This shit is Wack. 1.5/5

16.Handle That (Featuring U-God & Hugh Hef)
Beat is definitely good enough and U-God sets it off on here on some "Dopium" shit LOL. His verse is very raw you can feel his energy on this one and it keeps you tuned in. Inspectah Deck deilvers on here aswell he followed up well. The Last guy Hugh Hef just spits punchline after punchline, i knew 8/10 of his lines my first listen they were so predicatble. He was ok though. This is a banger. 4/5

BONUS CUTS

17. Animal Rights (Featuring Housegang)
Nothing special about this one at all but Carlton Fisk. LOL he is just raw on everything he touches. This is pretty average. 3.5/5

18.H.G. Is My Life
This is weak. 2/5

Beats - 4/5
Lyrics - 4/5
Overall - 4/5

I think this is pretty good for what it is. I think it is lighty better than "The Movement" even though "The Movement" has a more album vibe to it. The lyrics and beats on here are pretty solid and Deck proves he still has some steam left in him. A must have for a Deck fan. ****Overall 4/5****

The more that I listen, the deeper my understanding gets of how dope this thing actually is. Opposed to the negative views of some, I feel Deck's spirit is on fire and I'm definitely grasped by his lyrics, still.
