Which album is better?

I'm going with Chronic 2001. There is no doubt its lyrically better, but I prefer the beats on Chronic 2001 as well. Some people might argue the whole pioneering aspect of The Chronic, but as an overall album, 2001 is superior. Forgot About Dre is the sickest shit ever.

NOTE: If you're gonna come in here with Dre hate, or some dumb shit about Dre doesn't produce or write his own shit, you can fuck off.

Em influenced Dre's flow for 2001. Xzibit was also on 2001. The track bitch niggaz was however remarkable.

I voted The Chronic. I had that album from day one. 2001 was released a bit too late for me but I still appriciate it. Yes , the production was a million times better on 2001. 2001 wasnt a straight P-funk rip either.

Tuff choice.

He was hungry for it. Dre was hungry for it. Snoop ended up getting fucked and in return stopped giving a fuck. Oh but Master P cared enough.

Tuff, but 2001. I think I did it because on Chronic is one good MC (Snoop) and on 2001 there is two (Eminem was there in his best phase, don't forget).

A very hard choice for sure, I do think that 2001 is lyricly superior but Chronic had the G funk sound at it's freshest plus they were more in touch with what they rhymed about rather than the follow up, also since the early ninties was my introduction to hip hop this being one of the factors towards my love of the culture im going to have to vote for the original.

2001 is one of my favorite hip hop albums, as far as production goes. wack MCs but the 2001 Instrumental LP is one of my top 5 rap lps.

The Chronic, EASILY.

Personally I can't see how people can like 2001 more. It has lost it's playbackability to me, whereas the original Chronic will forever be fresh as it was from day 1.
Also I think The Chronic has better guest appearances. Snoop was incredible on it, and ALL of the other guests layed it down so well, Stranded on death row is one of my favourites there, along with Lil' Ghetto Boy and too many to list to be honest.
It also kinda makes me mad when people say Nuthin' But A G Thang is one of the best hip-hop songs ever, I know it was influential and stuff, but theres songs that are so much better on the Chronic.

Anyway thats just my two cents.

I don't even see the two on the same level at all. The original is Dre's classic. period.

Come on now, what about them flutes on the day tha niggaz took over? They both classics in they own rite. Two totally different periods of time. They were both a breath of fresh air at their own times. Well...idk about 2001. We were already hearing some of that due to Dre's Em work. Before Chronic we hadnt really heard the full potential of G-funk yet. idk.....

Its still a tie so that speaks for itself. Most polls are lanslides.

Chronic>Chronic 2. The production on the Chronic was not only classic but game changing. It's classic all the way thru. 2001 production dipped a lil' in the 2nd half of the LP.

Undeniably the original Chronic is better...one album I would actually play end to end without skipping. Dre's lyrics and production are classic on this joint

Bedlam- since i posted up yesterday, i figured i'd check it out again last night to make sure i wasn't missing something. in my humble opinion, the album is horrible. not one song that i didn't want to skip. i think the production is being overrated a bit, too. i never even payed attention back in the day where it says produced by Dre and Melman. i'd like Detox to have some of that Deep Cover, Chronic-style Dre instead of this newer school sound. anyway, peace-

I guess you didn't like the more piano and guitar driven instrumentals. They fit me perfectly, but to each his own. I think if you gave it more of a chance, you'd like some of the songs (you're honestly the only person I can think of who doesn't like What's the Difference. I'm guessing you hate Eminem?) Shit like Big Ego's, I'd love to hear some Wu members on it. People look too much at the fact that Mel Man helped out. I couldn't really give a shit who helped out what, if the final beat is dope, I don't give a shit. Detox should be a healthy mix of both styles

Detox is a fable. I got a better chance getting on this year than Detox ever dropping. I am far, very far, from getting on. Who knows though, one sick session then everything flips.

Back on subject, Chronic is runnin with that lead. I knew it.

fuck tha n00bs..

Deep Cover, Dre Day & Aint Nuttin But A G Thang alone are far too seperior. 2001 was dope too cant front but the OG Chronic was straight raw deathrow shit when deathrow was really runnin it.

also it was when Snoop was first discovered.

Chronic & Doggystyle is untouchable.

i agree, exxplosive and whats the difference were only songs i thought were any good. i just cant get into dre's sound.

i'll go with chronic 2001 cuz at least he wasnt ripping off p-funk left and right.

Bedlam- yeah, to each his own, man. for me, the fact that the Melman co-pro'd has nothing to do with it. maybe it's an age thing, i don't know... the album just seems soft to me, probably because West Coast Gangsta had played itself out to the ones who were banging the original in 93-94. Dre's peak, to me, was like 91-94. "EFIL4ZZAGIN", "Deep Cover", "The Chronic", and "Doggystyle" were the shit, he started to fall off a bit afterwards. good thread...peace.
CAP- learn from your brother Bedlam and act your age punk.

Chronic although i rarely listen to any of those & Chronic has some annoying elements about it, im not listenin to it at the mo so i cant give examples.

2001, for me, the rest of the album just dont live up to Forgot about Dre,
Still D.R.E, you know the other two.

Definately voted for The Chronic. Dre came hard on that shit, the production was also mad dope. Chronic 2001 falls closely behind, but the original takes my vote.
