This Day in Gaming, October 23rd

1988: Nintendo releases Super Mario Bros. 3 for NES in Japan. Who else but Nintendo would realize that becoming a mutant human/raccoon hybrid could fascinate children worldwide? This game was HUGE with 18 million copies sold - and when they debuted it during The Wizard and Fred Savage was all "that's unfair," I wanted to say shut your Fred Savage mouth, push that mute kid out of the way and play the freaking game. Giant Land (or Big Island) was a personal favorite. Any fanboys want to froth out to SMB3 in the comments? Go for it. Don't mind Mario rummaging around during the conversation, he just has a penchant for trash and ruining wire screen doors.

Oh man, classic for real. I still play this game today man. Got it in my DS right now as a matter of fact. This game will stand the test of time.

Nintendo is the best. The cube, not their best system, but the wii will own.

Yep Mario 3 was the shit, I remember when I had it on my NES back in the day, I played it constantly.

I even remember seeing it in that movie the Wizard.

Super Mario games were the shit. I remember playing them on some emulater earlier this year. After 15 years of playing my first Mario game it's still fun.

Still though, Deus Ex is the best game ever and no one can fuck with that. Ah sentiments of an aging gamer.

Everybody was on Deus Ex 8 years ago. I didn't catch that game though.

Agree with VDB-King, Super Mario Bros 3 is the greatest game of all time hands down.
