4/5

Excellent movie! It's based on a true story, right?

the plot, I'm unsure about. the story, however, is true. the Japanese transition from an agricultural and traditional equilibrium to an industrial and capitalist stance actually caused dissent amongst its people in both internal and external spectrums.

the movie was a piece of shit tho. the best part was the emperor's ninjas infiltrating and attacking the village

It's one of my top 5 movies. It hit me like that. I wasn't even roasted when I saw it and it was still powerful to me. I give it a 9/10.

yes, the aspect of the Western world taking over the Eastern civlization = true

The samurai dying out due to evolution of weapons and arms = true

The characters and the main plot having some white boi including himself in some epic battle ending the samurai-way in a single battle = totally fucking false

the only real person portrayed in that flick was Gen. Custard = true

true ....

I loved it.

One of the illest movies out there I think.

One of my favorite parts was during the final battle, one of the main Samurai, the one that fixed Cruise's armor before the battle, he gets shot through and through, gets up, spits out his blood, remounts his horse and carries on.

That s**t was gangsta.

kool action sequences , but a poor western atempt to make a samuria movie

nope,

they only took "real" people and stuck them in a fictacious (if that is a word) story.

but to be honest, I think the only "real" person they used was Colonel Custard
fictional.

its a good movie. not great in my opinion. favorite part was when the ninjas came out to assassinate the samurai leader(forget his name)

I take martial arts so my view point of the movie will be different from so one who doesn't. I thought they did a excellent job with the movie. No fancy shit just real martial arts and the training scenes were excellent because that's how real martial artists train. This is probably one my favorite movies.

Yo, I can't front. First thing I said was, "How can a white dude be the last samurai?!" But then, the story itself told me why and it was an ill concept.

I think Ken Watanabe character is "The Last Samurai". A lot of people refuse to see it because Tom Cruise, or they don't see how an American can be a samurai. But I think it fits well that he plays a cocky American that doesn't care about Japan or samurai, but through the course of the movie has his eyes opened to see and understand another culture.
