Of course record sales dont necessarily mean whos a better artist. However when an artist can drop a platinum album and still get another from an album made 10 years later, that is legendary status.

Which artists have done this? I guess groups and solos can count.

I can name a few....

Nas - Illmatic(1994)/Streets Disciple(2005)
Snoop Dogg Doggystyle(1994)/R&G(2005)
Dr. Dre - Straight Outta Compton(1987)/Chronic 2001(1999)
Ice Cube - Straight Outta Compton(1987)/War & Peace(1998)
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt/Kingdom Come (2006) --obviously will go platinum
2-Pac - Striclty 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.(1993)/Loyal to the Game(2005)
Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die(1994)/Duets(2006)

Other mentionables:

Outkast - Southerplayalistic(1994)/Speakerboxx(2003) - 9 years
Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers(1993)/The W(2001) - 8 years
Method Man - Tical (1994)/Blackout!(2001) - 7 years (with group 8 years)
Too $hort - Life is...Too Short(1988)/Gettin' It(1996) - 8 years

11 times, if you count "all world" in
only "todd smith" didnt succeed in going platinum.. the definition was.. acceptable, but he really should've stopped after that

great record though

true, thats the only reason OutKasts "Speakerboxx/Love Below" went Diamond(selling over 10 million) is cause it was a double album

so did life after death. However, would all these double Cds sell more if they were only 1 Cd because of the cheaper price?

Who knows....Hiphop is dead has a great chance of going gold...but can it go platinum?

I doubt Hip Hop is Dead 'll go platinum. The title track is supposed to be the big single? That ain't gonna do shit on the charts, Thief's Theme did little, and this song ain't as good. He'll go Gold definitely.

Who knows though? Maybe all this "Hip Hop is Dead" controversy will give him a shitload of sales.
