Just wanna know... I always thought he was five-percenter, but on God's Son he had "The Cross" and "Last Real Nigga Alive": Lord have mercy, Jesus Christ...

So what's he by religion?

Nah, he dabbles. He's like KP. I'm sure if you asked him he'd say he was "spiritual" or "all religions" or some bullshit.

lol why does everyone care what religion rappers are. back in the day everyone was on some black power conscious shit and i know nas was claiming 5%. but back in the day everyone was dealing with knowledge of self so they was like fuck religion and all that. so most of these rappers arent religious or arent in the gods and earths they are just spiritual deep dudes.. i remember nas was saying some shit like hes not religious just a spiritual dude and there aint nothin wrong with that. most rappers are deep there like poets and have open minds and i think when you deal with religion... it sorta closes your mind to many things so a lot of artist in general arent religious you'll find..

i have an interview from when stillmatic came out with angie martinez and someone in the audience asks nas the question and he says he doesn't claim any religion especially with all the bullshit going on in the world

11-28-2006, 10:44 PM
I don't recall Nas ever placing a claim to a religion. I remember reading an interview where he said his moms was a christian and his pops converted to Islam at one point in time. Then he did some studying with NGE, but I think he's just on some KOS type stuff.

he's like RZA now where he studies all faiths. he name-checks every belief system in his songs nowadays, including ancient Egyptian stuff. him and AZ keep calling each other God on twitter all the time, but that could just be AZ's influence rubbing off on him
