I was really thinking about this one... who is better, Nas or Az?...
They both arrived in the game around the same time (mid 90's)..
Both dropped very strong first albums, and strong follow up's.
Even though Nas' Illmatic is a Hip Hop Classic, I still consider Doe Or Die to be a hip hop classic as well.. I've listened to ALL their albums, and I found Az to be more consistant with his albums his whole career.. as Nas disapointed me with God's Son, Streets Disciple, and didnt get threw to me really with Hip Hop Is Dead. Nas has a higher lyrical calibur when he wants to display it, but Az has a immaculate flow that throws gems in for the most part. After comairing them very thoroughly, I find that Az is a better M.C.

What does everyone else think?

AZ. his flow and voice are so addictive. i love nas and he may have more variety in terms of styles and song topics, but AZ will always be timeless.

Nas is better. He can do tracks AZ can't. Take nothing away From A. He's nice but just not better. I'm cool w/A's fam and I still think Nas is better.

consistency speaks overall, AZ is the more consistent of the 2 when it comes to putting out dope albums, so how can Nas be better?, 1 album that was nice can't compare to 5 that are just as nice, so yeah, in conclusion, AZ is still more gully and iller than Nas, Nas is soft yo, babyboy rapper, fuck Nas, Mega made me lose respect for Nas along time ago, AZ and Cormega should do an album together!

nas made more classic albums then az.
stillmatic,illmatic,it was written.
I like az style more BUT nas is better as a ARTIST.

see what I mean? lol.. looking at what ya'll wrote, it seems close...
It's very hard to get a serious answer outta the majority or people that listen ta hip hop cuz they see Nas and hear bout him more, and get into him.. and some might not know who Az is or only a heard couple tracks or an album or 2he put out.. but i got some decent answers from ya'll, and im still curious what more people think about this...

and ta Bloodyhookz... yeh that would be a ridiculous album (cormega and az)

Just copped Aziatic and 9 Lives yesterday, both bangers

Nas has some strong tracks on al of his albums but AZ's album are all strong, it's said before, he's more consistent

His flow's iller too

Nas is more capable, AZ is more consistant.

Seriously, after lots of thinking I put them on the same level.

I would go with both because they both have them lyrics that are cathy and addictive and Nas is a legend and Az is like a little brother to nas rapping wise...Their both nice Mc's

....uh Nas..we'll be ssin alot from this dude soon
Az will probly be right dere wif him doe...

um Nas by a landslide...

AZ may be more consistent, i wont argue with that, but Nas at his absolute best murks AZ, and thats not a hard question at all.

The World Is Yours, NY State of Mind, It Ain't Hard To Tell, I Gave You Power, Fetus, his verse on Verbal Intercourse >>>> Anything AZ has ever done.

03-08-2007, 10:09 AM
AZ's verse on life's a bitch >> everything Nas has ever done

03-08-2007, 10:12 AM
Nas had the better verse if you ask me.

I don't know, Az has skills, but i could never really get into his shit. His voice kinda annoys me.

i can see how ppl can like one over the other, but a 'landslide' is MAD pushing it... I can name tracks Az has done that match Nas at his best..

Nas took risks on some pretty risky instrumentals... AZ's tight, but he's not as surprising.
