I read something that explains this nature but I forgot now.

Sometimes the villain is favored in some cases. I guess the jerk sometimes plays the role of the villain with mildly similar characteristics. They are unlawful, funny, uncaring, etc.

There is a difference in other context: I'm a jerk to women and I capitalize from that for some reason while those nice guys finish in last.

Perhaps those 2 are related.
