i just wanted yall opinion on what makes a great rapper
for me a rapper has to write at least 75 percent of his or her material
this doesnt fit everyone's criteria of a great rapper.
i ask this question because my young cousin said that little wayne is the best rapper out right now and i said does he write his own material
i dont know the answer to that question and my cousin didnt know either
but is this important to yall

let me correct u my friend

a great rapper should write 100% of his material, thats what we call born talent...a great rapper must understand music and be creative with his shit..in other words..hit your listeners from every angle possible but at the same time be entertaining

true, first of idd he must write 100% of his material.

To me a good rapper is an original rapper, what I mean by being original is not comming over and over again with bitch this, bling, bling, cash, money, gunz in the hood, grew up hard on the street, jacking cars, drugs, beer, shot 2000 times, bitch slap yo ass nigga cunt, ass fuck, motherfucker kinda bullshit...
Be original...keep the listeners wanting more, be good with y'r words...

originality
wordplay
creativity
voice
must write own lyrics
breath control
verseatility [one of the most important things to being a rapper]

I hate rappers like Jada Kiss who has all of the above, except his flow, always the same, but rappers like Big Pun were riding beats and switching up the flows, that's how I feel, that's how I do things too though, I ride beats, I just don't write my verse and then spit it, I have to let the beat and the lyrics become 1!

Good rapper? A good rapper rhymes about bling and dancing in the club, drinking henessy, and what car he's in.

A Good MC rhymes about shit they feel. you can tell when someone feels rhymes, an MC needs to mean what he says. Vocabulary, dont rhyme Jay-Z style "cash" with "cash", flow, wordplay, and writes all his own lyrics.

Being able to re-invent yourself and adjust versatile to your surroundings, and sound ill as fuck, bring the lyrics through the airwaves straight to your brain.
