they're both legendary, 2 different styles and they collaborated a good number of times and sound dope together, I love Krs any day, he's always official, but G Rap has been a fav for the longest time, I'm a conscious and grimey cat at the same time so it's hard to choose, but I have to go with G Rap!

and look out for that Bambino [ME] and Kool G Rap collabo soon, don't ask me when, but it's in the making!!
I spoke to G and we're gonna arrange it!
But I would be lying to you if I told you that he's doing the track for free, of course I'm paying him to rap on my track, but he's the only one I'd consider giving loot to do a track with me! SO WATCH OUT FOR THAT ON THE BAMBINO ALBUM COMING SOON!

Damn... this is tuff.

KRS with his originating ragga-rap fusion, spreading knowledge and representin the real hip-hop for 20 years straight now...

Or G with his originating mafioso rap, multisyllabic rhymes and influencing every fucking rapper...

Damn. KRS. But real tuff.

KRS has many styles (most of which he is the origin) with charisma and intelligence. Unlike most he deserves to be arrogant.

G is just a rapper in the purest form

Kool G Rap is one of the best rappers of all time, while KRS is just average. So what if he's conscious, that doesn't make him more than average. Awesome stage presence and charisma though. But heain't got a tenth of the rhyme schemes G Rap has...

I don't see anything "funny" about Cube being in his top 10, or beside Rakim. Having MF Doom and Immortal Technique on a top 10 AND above Rakim, now thats not only funny, but just ridiculous.

@ topic: this is a tuff question...but i'll go with KRS one the blastmaster...

I like 'em both as much, but just for the simple fact, that I can listen longer to krs-one then too kool G rap..there is a bit more diversity in his style... both are SICK mc's..

cut for cut, Kool G Rap; career, KRS One.

get fucking real: G has been running the gangster Scarface cocksucker shit way way way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay into the ground. That shit is fine as one style, persona but goddamn it's tedious & a waste as THEE thing.

Also, maybe-- just maybe-- motherfucker could read a newspaper in the last-- oh, 20 years??-- & incorporate some of THAT crime stuff into his style?

i don't discount the difficulty G's had making $$$ but artistically, his self-imposed limitations are pretty goddamn tedious.

(Click of Respect half-sucks too.)

yo venex- whats up homie-
thanx for askin about my list-

herez the 411-
i think a lot of headz dont put enough thought into their 'top 10'
many headz do - but also too many dont-

i basically categorize my favorite/the best emceez by level of
skill and importance to the culture-
rza and gza just have a lyrical catalogue way ahead of the rest-
theyve attained a level higher than say rakim, jigga,or chuck d-
some emceez are just on a higher level than otherz-

krs iz on a level of hiz own when all criteria iz considered>
live show
cultural importance
lyrical substance
rhymez
dope albumz
dope singlez
dope guest spots
freestylez
oration
etc etc

and when more and more criteria iz taken into account, it gets
more difficult to rank and compare emceez-
example-
how do you compare chuck d to method man
or holocaust or immortal technique to rakim-
there are so many variablez to consider that i just create a
list of levelz to be attained-
thats why i sometimez have more than one emcee at a spot-

thats why i have odb/pac/and b.i.g tied
cuz they all have some thingz better or not az good az
the other but all are very important to Hiphop's past, prezent and future-

pac iz more loved by the massez and iz more important to the
culture overall than holocaust, but pac aint seein holocaust lyrically-

i take all sh-t into account and then try to rank the best i can-

that bein said, my ranks can change from time to time also-
depending on some emcee catchin wreck and droppin a crazy bomb or even droppin somethin suspect recently-
- peace -

venex
03-25-2007, 01:36 PM
WOW... you really put alot of time in that list, I respect that

it's great, nice system too!

I'm also somebody who does such stuff..

haha, I once gave each member of the wu tang points on 5, also categories (charisma, flow, lyrics, ...) then I counted those points to rank them from 1 to 9 LOL

I lost the paper though, it was a year ago..:)

OTB
03-25-2007, 02:00 PM
venex-

points for categoriez- yes-
similar to how i give weight to certain emcee criteria-
cultural, global impact holdz a lot of weight to me-
krs, chuck d, rza, pac

lyrics hold much weight
wreckin live on stage holdz much weight

g rap iz wicked, top 5, but hiz albumz dont have the
spectrum of knowledge that krs or PE have

b.i.g waz a monster, but waznt around az long az killah priest who
iz blessin this culture with mad jewelz-

props venex-
keep it true-

just average?! have you listened to Return of the Boom Bap or Criminal Minded Krs1 is a legend you must respect! Go listen to Nelly or PM Dawn

I love those type of childish reactions...

i've listened to everything i needed to conclude KRS is an average rapper compared to G Rap. He never got better than what he did on Return Of The Boom Bap, KRS One or I Got Next. Good flow, great voice usage, but what else? Where are the ill rhyme schemes, the wordplay, the controlled delivery et caetera... Seriously, KRS ain't got nothing on G Rap, Rakim or Big Daddy Kane. If you want old school legends that are also great rappers, those three suit waay better.
He's a legend you must respect, lol --> Shaq O'Neal is a legend, but he ain't got no flows, do i disrespect?
Go listen to Nelly, lol once again --> perhaps YOU should, if you think KRS is a great rapper. A legend yes, but not a great rapper.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

seriously, i want someone, ANYONE, to talk about G Rap since "4, 5, 6." the album w/the fake-ass Scarface cover is very good but very limited content... Giancana Story & Click Of Respect aren't aren't that hot.

what's WEIRD, & disappointing, is vintage Kool G really did have range; ya'll know that lyric on "Road to Riches" where he's sweeping floors at Key Food?

15 years later & where's he at? watching bad fake gangster MOVIES, again.

come the fuck on.

like i said (or maybe i didn't...) KRS has an awesome stage presence, he's one of the best entertainers, he can rock a crowd in a way very few rappers can, and i'd love to see him live on stage, i'm sure it would be a great experience... But then again, i saw Diddy on stage, and i also saw Nas. Diddy's concert was way better than Nas', but Nas is still a way better rapper. Saying he's not a great rapper doesn't mean i don't know what he's capable of, and that i didn't enjoy his work (mostly from 93 to 97, and that Keep Right cd was kinda cool too) As far as ambassadors, no disrespect intended but i see him more as an old glory who barks at young'uns, begging for respect, than a truly devoted Hip-Hop ambassador. To me he's his own ambassador, not Hip-Hop's... But also i see that from one ocean away ;)

KRS is an average rapper compared to G Rap.

Yeah, his subject matter is limited. Roots Of Evil was real cool, and was to be viewed as a mafia movie album, something like a soundtrack.... He only talks about gangsterism on that one, but his storytelling is off the hook, like on Thugs Love Story, Tekilla Sunrise and so on...
Click Of Respect is just bad, but the first version of Giancana Story (the one that should have been released by Rawkus) was better. Not an excellent cd, but better than what ended on the shelves. I'm waiting for the next one though.
Anyway, subject matter doesn't make a good rapper. I could rap about my life, yours, politics, love, friendship, economics, on a whole album, but id still sound corny, because i just can't flow!

o.d.b. rest in peace
