it really depends on personal choice, my list would go
Big Daddy Kane
Rakim
Kool G Rap
KRS One

people need to stop lookin at just a name n actually listen

i have a problem... title is about "lyricism", poll is about "mc'ing".

so i voted for "mc'ing"... Kane. the guy can rock a crowd like nobody else.

I got love for them because they were true pioneers but superior mc's like Eminem or Immortal Technique would eat them alive on the mic.

Mista JpKoff
04-03-2007, 08:15 AM
The poll's title was about "lyricists"... The best lyricist on here is Rakim, i voted for him.
The best overall MC, to me would be between G Rap & Kane.

I got love for them because they were true pioneers but superior mc's like Eminem or Immortal Technique would eat them alive on the mic.
I like Immortal Tech alot, but i can't think for a second he's on par with Eminem, G Rap, Rakim or Kane :)

I got love for them because they were true pioneers but superior mc's like Eminem or Immortal Technique would eat them alive on the mic.

ok, sure they would, on what level?, first of all, KRS ONE would shit and eat and reshit Eminem and Technique in a battle, second, Rakim is way too advanced for both of those faggots, the jewels he drops alone would put them back in perspective, third, KGR's flow is the most bitten and still one of the most dangerous dated today, and what he spits is too g'd up for these clowns, and fourth, BDK would turn Em and Tech to his personal hoes and pimp them on a mic!!!

These mc's are the reason why y'all are still listening to hiphop and why you talk walk and dress hiphop, now how you gonna tell me a whiteboy on drugs who 90% of the time raps about Hailey and a so called revolutionist who's flow is nothing remarkable can fuck with these 4 vets who spit rapid fire darts on any and every track, you on drugs?!?!

just had to express how I feel about that remark!

IT and Eminem's punches are too hard for KRS to handle i think, even considering KRS is in the top 5 all time for MCs.. battling is subjective as fuck anyway so why even speculate know what i mean?

and dont tell me Rakim drops deeper or more radical shit than IT on a normal, song-to-song basis... Rakim another top 5 MC but that doesnt automatically mean he drops more jewels..

alotta the time these pioneer rappers get their dicks rode on certain shit.. i think for anybody whos really listened to these guys rhyme, they dont have an easy time picking one of them.. tho i know in the end id go with Rakim or KRS, they were the fuckin poets

here we go again.... pioneers Vs golden era mc's.

bloodyhookz
04-04-2007, 06:02 AM
for real yo, Immortal Technique does not have more jewels than Rakim, I can tell we have rookies up in this thread!

Longbongcilvaringz
04-04-2007, 06:04 AM
i dont really think there comparable, completely different mc's.

immortal technique is overtly political in the majority of his tracks, so people who support his opinion feel as though hes wise.

rakim is more subtle, so i assume for some people hes not as easy to identify as speaking truths.

04-04-2007, 06:25 AM
all these fuckin OGs and vets who are like 'back in my days krs one was dope no one today can compare' its like when baby boomers say 'todays music is shit back in my days was REAL music' man its different times, different techniques, different aspects, different cultures, fuck it, stop comparing pioneers to todays motherfuckers ...

out of those, id say KRS-One just beats out Kool G Rap as an mc ... rakim the lyricist ...

^ i can tell you really don't listen to them at all cause you wouldn't be sayin the shit you're saying if u did

what shit are you talkin about? like i said battling is subjective and arguing it has no point.. and i think rakim was more skilled than IT is (so far), but IT brings his radical/important shit every verse he writes.. all i was saying is that rakim's wisdom doesnt leave IT in the dust at all... if anything i think its flip-flopped cuz IT takes on the most important shit

thats all im sayin.. and i voted for KRS in the end

Rakim
Kane
KRS-One
G Rap

Dante

Rakim is the better lyricist, but overall MC i'd say is Kane.

Edgar Erebus
04-05-2007, 04:26 PM
Lyricist - Kool G Rap.
MC - KRS-One.
Rapper if we include everything that makes a rapper - Rakim.

Anyone that puts BDK over KGR needs to do some research. The BDK you know and love wouldn't exist if he wasn't biting Kool G Rap.

Blastmaster KRS-ONE - 1993

Okay, you convinced me, KRS gets my vote.

This is a fucking dope song, btw, my favorite parts:
* Here in America you have drug spot,
They send black cop to watch the drug spot
The black drug dealer just avoid black cop
* Thirty years ago there were no black cops
You couldn't even run, drive round the block
Recently police trained black cop
To stand on corner and take gunshot

leave you from the waist down disabled
face down on a table in a hospital gown wit ya crown stapled'

OH DIP!!-
thats when i lost interest in other emceez for a few weeks-

despite the people tryin to compare today'z emceez to
hip hop legendz. i see all that bein flat-out buncha bologna!
people cant stick to the thread nowadayz.

(back into topic)
this iz a hard decision. harder than i thought lol
but im stickin wit KRS-ONE. even tho rakim and kool g rap
do bring some heat, KRS-ONE paved the way wit stickin to
important issuez az he rapz

Immortal Techniques' lyrics are better then Rakim's or Kool G.

And this is coming from a huge Rakim fan. IT's lyrics are REAL FIRE.

i cant disagree with beardman-

immortal technique spits pure lava-

when hiz next album drops, we'll all be able to
rank him with the greats a lil eazier-

still already hez in my top 10-
i have krs and g rap ahead of him,
but i got technique edgin rakim and
way ahead of kane-

i still dont really think it fair to compare across eras.

but i guess if people are willing to say some of the pioneers are the best ever then people have a right to argue against them.

Voted G Rap, but after that I started to think maybe Rakim or KRS woulda been the better choice.

Immortal Techniques' lyrics are better then Rakim's or Kool G.

:lmao:

If by better you mean extremely corny conspiracy theory bullshit lyrics than i agree

Longbongcilvaringz
04-06-2007, 10:36 PM
^ you obviously havent listened to alot of Immortal Technique.

his story telling is great, and his "poitical" tracks usually discuss issues, instead of spitting out conspiracy theories.

and come on, you can apply the crack or cia conspiracy theory to so many hip hop acts its not funny.

Dante
04-06-2007, 10:38 PM
^ I haven't listened to much IT, the shit that i HAVE heard from him just sounds corny as fuck to me, so i find it laughable to say he has better lyrics than Rakim or G Rap.

Longbongcilvaringz
04-06-2007, 10:47 PM
Well if you want to listen to something good by him. Listen to:

Point Of No Return
Harlem Streets
Industrial Revolution
Leaving The Past
Dance With The Devil
The Prophecy

i still wouldnt compare or contarst him with rakim, but hes far from corny.
