The Eagles and Redskins are better than the Giants. The Lions have played a bunch of close games this year in losses. The Bears are first in their division, and have beaten the second place team already, the Packers. The Saints aren't making another super bowl run, they are a one hit wonder. The Bears have already beat the two other teams in the NFC that were possible super bowl favorites. They are still the best in the NFC. Who is better?

Lions have played exceptionally well this year, yes. But the Giants have beat the Bears in very... VERY convincing fashion. As of now the Giants are one game behind the Bears in the NFC and if we end up tying we get the go ahead because we stomped ya'll out. Giants are better than Chicago.

what do you think of the new rule were they will suspend players for helmet to helmet hits on defenseless receivers?

I think they should just suspend James Harrison for a while, and fix the problem. Both helmet to helmet hits that resulted in concussions were made by him, on purpose. This guy tried to break Vince Young's neck a few weeks back. Grow some balls and deal with the player you have a problem with. Making it to where nobody can hit hard is just bullshit. There are lots of hard hits that aren't just James Harrison trying to decapitate everyone on the other team. Hard hits are part of football. James Harrison hits aren't even designed to tackle you. It's more designed to put you to sleep. Helmet to helmet. He hasn't even gotten flagged for it!! The NFL is a joke if they let Harrison get away with that dirty ass shit, but new rules league wide regarding devastating hits? No.

NFL Punter -- Busted for Being Waaaaaasted (http://www.tmz.com/2010/10/20/nfl-punter-pat-mcafee-kicker-arrest-drunk-mug-shot/)

Originally posted Oct 20th 2010 6:26 AM PDT by TMZ Staff
Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee was arrested last night and charged with public intoxication after a random woman called 911 (http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_audio/102010_mcafee_911.mp3) claiming he was shirtless, "out of it" -- and tried to get in her car.

http://ll-media.tmz.com/2010/10/20/1020-patrick-mug-01.jpg

Indianapolis police found 23-year-old McAfee shirtless and soaking wet -- which is weird because it had not been raining.

According to the police report, cops asked the kicker how much he had to drink -- and he replied, "A lot 'cause I am drunk." McAfee continued, "I know I am drunk, but does that mean I cannot walk home?"

Dude later took a breathalyzer test and registered a 0.15 -- almost double the legal limit.

We're told he's still in police custody ... "sobering up."

UPDATE: McAfee was arraigned and charged with one count of public intoxication ... a misdemeanor. He was released without bail and is due back in court on Friday. The Colts haven't said yet if McAfee will suit up this weekend.

And the Steelers did get the calls of course. That unneccesary roughness call they got just plays before the Big Ben fumble was bullshit. As long as one of those 2 times is in the playoffs that's fine. A couple of years ago, the Patriots would have probably beat the Giants 9 out of 10 times, but they didn't when it mattered most. The Giants beat the better team and held up the Lombardi trophy. I might point out that the Titans have a history of beating the Steelers when the Steelers are considered the better/much better team. They've done it a few times over the last 10 years. The Steelers have won 2 straight over them though.

titans wont make the playoffs this year unless they win the division. wild cards coming from the north and east.

First off that's exactly what the Titans are likely going to do imo. (win the South) Secondly it's a little early to dismiss the possibility of the 2nd place AFC South team having a better record than the 2nd place teams in the East and North. You may very well end up being correct, but it's no lock by any means. I assume you are feeling the Steelers will win the North. Would you be shocked to see the Ravens lose more than the team that ends up 2nd in the South the rest of the way? I wouldn't. What if Tom Brady was to get hurt like he did 2 years ago again? The Patriots defense isn't exactly great you know, and who the hell is their backup now anyway? The Titans lead the NFL in scoring. They are 3rd in the NFL in scoring defense, 1st in the NFL in red-zone defense, and 1st in the NFL in sacks. The only game where the Titans didn't appear to be the better team on the field was the Pittsburgh game. I hardly think I'm a homer for thinking they're the best team in the AFC South. The Colts are in horrible shape injury wise, and the Texans don't seem to be able to stop anyone lately on defense. The Titans have beat 3 teams (Cowboys, Jaguars, Giants) that the Colts/Texans have lost to already. I hardly think I'm a homer for thinking they're the best team in the AFC South. Would you disagree?

cutn' heads
10-29-2010, 01:38 PM
i wouldnt disagree at all. i hope the titans do win the south. im a little sick of seeing the colts in year after year. and, being a ravens fan, it would be nice to not have the damn colts in their way again. based on second half schedules, i really like the ravens to win the north and the steelers dropping in with the WC. NY seems to have the east on lock and i cant see the pats missing the playoffs ( i hope they miss out though)...

i dont get to see many titans games. all i know is they have had issues from the QB spot ( never a good sign), they have a young #1 WR surrounded by journeymen and CJ hasn't been producing like he did in the last 2 years.

they got a good record but look who they beat. the best win was over the giants but that was before the giants started clicking. the eagles win was good, but they lost to denver and a shaky pitts team at home...

Yes. Vince was completely lost in that Steelers game. It was the first time he ever saw their defense, and he responded poorly to say the least. I don't blame Fisher for inserting Collins, and he certainly moved the Titans down the field better than Vince that day. I just wouldn't consider 1 out of 7 games of bad QB play (6 weeks ago against the best defense in the NFL) QB problems myself. Just my opinion. Definately had them that day though. I can't argue that.

Baraka, me and you are both in agreement...the Steelers are a much better team than the Titans.

Arrington was on the Giants for about half a year in 06 before he got injured and later retired. Thought he could have turned things around and he played pretty good in those few games he suited up in blue for. Definitely would have been on the team for that Super Bowl.

As a Titans fan, let me just say, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Unless Fisher needs a new mustache assistant. Vikings are my 2nd favorite team, and I live in Minneapolis. I say fire Brad Childress!! Titans are a winning team with a good coaching staff, and great attitudes throughout. If Randy doesn't enjoy playing with them, he might as well quit. Adding Moss to the highest scoring team in the NFL seems like a good thing. especially with Kenny Britt being down for a while with a hamstring. When Britt comes back, what will defenses do? You can't bring your safeties up to stop CJ2K with Moss and Britt running downfield. BTW, Vince Young is the highest rated QB in the NFL this season. Pumped!

Donovan McNabb agrees to five-year contract extension

By Jason Reid and Rick Maese
(Updated: 3:46 p.m.)
Donovan McNabb will be Mike Shanahan's quarterback beyond 2010, McNabb's agent confirmed.
"We're very happy about the situation," Fletcher Smith said. "We've been working on this for a while now, and we're obviously glad to get it done. Donovan's very happy about the situation because this is where he wanted to be all along.
"From the first day we spoke, I told you this is what Donovan wanted: to have a long career in Washington and end his career here. That never changed. And the fact that we could get this done tonight, with the Redskins playing the Eagles on Monday night and everything that goes with that, I couldn't have written a better script."
ESPN first reported the story Monday afternoon (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5809694), citing the terms of the deal at five years and $78 million. A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed those numbers.
McNabb's current deal was set to expire at the conclusion of this season. Though both sides have maintained since the Easter day trade that brought McNabb to Washington from Philadelphia that an extension was coming, McNabb's Oct. 31 benching cast some doubt on the prospects. News reports have suggested that Shanahan wasn't pleased with McNabb's grasp of the offense.
However, the two sides talked throughout the bye week, and neither ever wavered about McNabb's future in Washington beyond 2010.
McNabb's new deal could be worth up to $88 million with incentives, according to ESPN's Michael Smith. Citing an unnamed source, the report stated that $40 million of the extension will be guaranteed.

Halfway through the Redskins' 16-game schedule, McNabb is the NFL's 28th-ranked passer with a 76.0 quarterback rating. He's averaging 246.4 yards per game (No. 13 in the NFL) and has seven touchdowns (tied for No. 26) and eight interceptions (tied for 10th most).
The Redskins (4-4) will rely on McNabb for a playoff push in the half of 2010. McNabb is due a $5 million base salary this season and a $6.2 million roster bonus.
Washington acquired McNabb from the Eagles on April 4 in exchange for a 2010 second-round draft pick (37th overall) and either a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 based on McNabb's performance.
McNabb has been asked almost weekly about an extension this season, and he's repeatedly said that he hopes to play in Washington for many years. McNabb even mentioned at his introductory news conference that "I'm going to prepare myself to be here for years to come." (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/donovan-mcnabb/mcnabb-isnt-worried-about-cont.html)
Shanahan's decision to bench him at Detroit two weeks ago apparently didn't change his mind.
The Redskins have also repeatedly said McNabb would be the team's franchise quarterback, though Shanahan said prior to the Lions' game that he wouldn't personally talk about an extension with McNabb during the season (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/donovan-mcnabb/shanahan-no-contract-talks-wit.html?wprss=redskinsinsider).

Is it just me or is it crazy at the age of 34, they think he is going to be around for 5 more years?

Art Vandelay
11-15-2010, 07:06 PM
queen, they don't necessarily think he will be around for 5 more years. the longer they make the contract, the less his signing bonus counts against the salary cap each year that he plays. they may have needed to make it 5 years just to stay under the cap for next year.

for instance, if he got a $20 million signing bonus, each year of his contract $4million will count against the cap. had they only signed him to a 2 year deal, $10 million would count against the cap.

lmfao

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, veteran receiver Hines Ward of the Steelers thinks Patriots safety Patrick Chung should be fined for the hit that knocked Ward out of last Sunday's game.

"I was falling down and I wasn't expecting to get hit," Ward said, according to the newspaper's website. "He hit me, and that is what caused the head, neck [injury] or whatever you guys want to call it. I don't know what the league wants. It is what it is. It was helmet-to-helmet, and I thought that is what usually causes a fine. I am not going to sit there and worry about if the guy got fined or not."

The only problem? It wasn't Chung who apparently hit Ward helmet to helmet as Ward was being tackled; it was James Sanders.

No fine has been assessed on the play, although the NFL usually doesn't release fines until Friday.

The Bears D is all they have. A good team can shut Forte completely down he is not a great back. The Giants proved that when we contained and bottled his ass up. The Bears D isn't the '85 D though [the only time the Bears ever won a Super Bowl]. So let's chill with that best team talk. With all due respect, the best team from the NFC will be decided Sunday Night. And that is what it is.

See now the bug has crept up on the NYGz but.. Shaun Andrews stepped right in at Left Tackle and he's been great. I'm sure that will be a storyline Sunday Night. And Steve Smith being out is a plus for ya'll of course. But don't forget who we got now. Nicks... Manningham... and I'm gonna tell you a name to look out for this week perhaps.. Duke Calhoun.

Our offense can definitely match yours I think this game of course comes down to defense and STs.. and I know you know we ain't the Redskins on D.

I do that on Saturdays......

The next best team in the NFC behind the Bears is the Falcons. The Giants got blown out by a one win team.

Sorry kid. No one with any real knowledge of the NFC believes you. Giants beat the Bears. Best team in the NFC will be crowned Sunday Night. Falcons are legit, yes. They're better than the Bears. The Saints are going to get some people back and they're in there. Better than the Bears. So I'd say that right now the Bears are the 5th best team in the NFC. Aye this is a rare thing for Bears fans to actually have a record to back up their beliefs so have fun while it lasts lil' buddy. Don't forget the Packers.. they'll probably beat you out.

the NFC sucks this year.

See above. Plus, the NFC's best teams have beaten the AFC's best teams. Giants beat the Texans when they were the talk. Eagles beat the Colts. Saints beat the Steelers. Falcons beat the Ravens. The Patriots got punked by the Browns which rules out the Giants punked by the Cowboys.

And for what's it worth.. we beat Dallas once and they beat us the week after a new coach who had literally NOTHING TO LOSE.. very dangerous.. the NFC East better watch out for Dallas the rest of this year. Just glad we got that first win off 'em.

The entire league is just good this year. For once, the Browns and Raiders are actually worth watching. The AFC West is starting to look like the AFC we're used to. The NFC was a little wide open for a while there but now you're starting to see who the real teams are. There's about 5 solid teams in the NFC, there's about the same maybe a few more in the AFC. It's anyone's year..who ever gets hot at the end.

From top to bottom, you get competition every week. Buffallo was a little competitive early on, ask New England fans. Theygot some injuries though so they probably won't win another game.. other than maybe when they play the shitty ass Dolphins LOL. Even Denver showed up last week. San Francisco was a mystery but we know they can be better and Alex Smith may be the answer. Seattle has even came back to life this year a bit. San Diego will do what they always do and win games in December. Oakland is balling, but I think that good corner is out this week. KC is back, atleast were playing well. Jaguars started well but they stalled out, still could compete down the line. Tampa Bay is back, behind my boy Josh Freeman who I told ya'll niggas about in Week 1. Carolina is down they're with Buffallo. Dallas had a real mystery year, they are better than what their record is.

Yeah there's been some real good football so far. Some great games coming out of games that should've been beat downs and even some upsets, Browns beating the Saints and Giants losing to Dallas.
