The Saints aren't near as good as last year. I think you praise the Bucs too highly. I don't see them beating anybody good. Most people don't know who Freeman is. I'm sure the Raiders will eventually descend back down to bottom feeder like they are accustomed to.

Dirty Knowledge

Just the fact that it's Week 11 and we can even talk about the Raiders, or the Bucs for that matter. Kansas City faded away after last week, but that division is up for grabs. The Saints are good, dude, you don't have to hate on every good team or championship team just because you haven't witnessed one as a fan yet. Tampa Bay can give you fits because they've got a good defense as usual and they've got a QB who is managing the game like a good young QB should. He's not making stupid decisions and he's actually made some pretty good ones. There's more parody than usual this year and me for one I like when it's that way. It makes for exciting games, good races and finishes.

Of course there's a big drop off between the decent, good teams this year and the top contenders. But in past years it was a bigger one. And Dooch no one is defensive, just because a nigga is dropping some knowledge doesn't mean he's getting defensie but nice try, duke.

I did witness the 85 Bears team, the best team in history. The Saints are one hit wonders. I saw Freeman play recently, and he made a really bad decision on a third down play late in he game by moving about 15 yards backwards for some reason, and being sacked, which took his team out of field goal range.

i got a good enough reason to dislike the steelers. im from baltimore...

really though, i dont hate them. i respect the steelers. they definitely play football the way i like to watch it played. but i do hate hines ward... that guys a dick and a cheapshot artist. and rothelisberger is just a sorry excuse for a human being...i think james harrison is a great player with a great story (being cut so many times by the ravens and steelers and becoming what he has). and i like tomlin a lot . he carries himself so cool on the field...

how come when a receiver goes over the middle for a ball and ed reed (and every other defensive back ever to play the game) gets a free hit on a defensive player, it's considered a good hit, even when the receiver has to look for the ball and can't look at the player?

but when hines ward (or any other receiver) blocks a defensive back, who can easily turn their head around, he is considered a dirty player? let ed reed switch sides and play receiver and have him go over the middle for a ball.

It looks like things aren't going to work out with Vince in Tennessee. However, calling a guy that has been to 2 Pro Bowls, won the rookie of the year award, and was having an excellent season this year before getting hurt doesn't make much sense really. He could very well have an excellent career somewhere else, and given his talent level, someone will surely give him that chance if the Titans choose to go in a different direction. Apart from the QB, NFL has to be one of the easiest sports to learn how to play and master. In terms of learning curve. Not talking about tactics, which are admittedly highly complex, but actually playing the sport, is rather primitive. Half of the team just have to stand there and be fat and push against another fat gut, for the whole game. The others just have to run, and catch a ball, and avoid other people who are running and trying to catch a ball.

In terms of ball skill levels, its low. In terms of physical astuteness and body control though, its high. Theres not much in sport like the sight of a WR or RB in full flow dogging anything coming his way with instant reactions combined with improvisation and physical agility mixed with strength. But this is something youre born with mostly. Like I said, apart from QBs, you cant really practise this sport to extreme levels of mastery and touch in the same way you can with Soccer, Hockey or Basketball.

Im saying this because I love watching NFL, but I dont understand when people like vandelay and Tooch compare sports, like this one is better than that. Its just retarded. I like socccer and NFL for completely seperate reasons.

football is much harder of a sport to master than you think. players come out of college and ride the bench for a year or 2 until they learn it. and those players are just as fat or fast as the current ones. it has nothing to do with talent, but actually learning the game.

jerry rice was the best receiver ever, but he wasn't the fastest or strongest. he ran a better route than any receiver that ever played the game. that was something he practiced and learned to do.

wide receivers don't just run to oak tree and cut inside. some plays have 2 or 3 different possible routes depending on what the defense does and the receiver needs to recognize what is going on as far as what kind of coverage (zone, man to man (no homo), etc.)and or blitzing is going on at the snap of the ball.

offensive lineman aren't just fat guys who block the guy immediately in front of them. pass and run blocking are 2 completely different talents that usually take a player coming out of college a year or 2 to learn.

offensive linemen have to recognize blitz packages and know which of the 11 guys on the field that they are to block on that particular play. pulling guards need to know which linebacker or lineman they are responsible for when they come around the tackle.

other than the quarterback, the offensive lineman are usually the smartest players on the field, not just big fat guys.

wide receivers don't just run to oak tree and cut inside. some plays have 2 or 3 different possible routes depending on what the defense does and the receiver needs to recognize what is going on as far as what kind of coverage (zone, man to man (no homo), etc.)and or blitzing is going on at the snap of the ball.

offensive lineman aren't just fat guys who block the guy immediately in front of them. pass and run blocking are 2 completely different talents that usually take a player coming out of college a year or 2 to learn.

offensive linemen have to recognize blitz packages and know which of the 11 guys on the field that they are to block on that particular play. pulling guards need to know which linebacker or lineman they are responsible for when they come around the tackle.

other than the quarterback, the offensive lineman are usually the smartest players on the field, not just big fat guys.

interesting. i was hoping someone would post something like that.

also, coaching is harder and more important in football than any other sport. way behind football at #2 would be baseball.

every other team sport, coaching is basically about getting the right matchup.

in any sport but football and baseball, i think you could switch the coaches and 95% of the time you would have the same result in the game.

Don't underestimate the moves a manager makes in baseball. I think there's a reason they're specifically called "Managers" instead of coach, kind of a different beast. Baseball is more about the pitcher and if you have a great one you barely need to make any coaching decisions.

Wow... knowing when to bring the infield in, pinch, play a certain base, shift the outfield, put up Lefties vs a Righty or not, the bullpen, all of this comes in to play in the AL as well. You don't think AL managers have to pinch hit, sac? Ya'll got the double switch but gee I wonder why. The double switch is actually a fucking moron move any idiot could make because it's the only logical move in that certain situation. And both leagues would love to use a pitcher who could pitch till his arm thrown off, granted he's throwing good. I do realize you are a Pirates fan though.

First off that's exactly what the Titans are likely going to do imo. (win the South) Secondly it's a little early to dismiss the possibility of the 2nd place AFC South team having a better record than the 2nd place teams in the East and North. You may very well end up being correct, but it's no lock by any means. I assume you are feeling the Steelers will win the North. Would you be shocked to see the Ravens lose more than the team that ends up 2nd in the South the rest of the way? I wouldn't. What if Tom Brady was to get hurt like he did 2 years ago again? The Patriots defense isn't exactly great you know, and who the hell is their backup now anyway? The Titans lead the NFL in scoring. They are 3rd in the NFL in scoring defense, 1st in the NFL in red-zone defense, and 1st in the NFL in sacks. The only game where the Titans didn't appear to be the better team on the field was the Pittsburgh game. I hardly think I'm a homer for thinking they're the best team in the AFC South. The Colts are in horrible shape injury wise, and the Texans don't seem to be able to stop anyone lately on defense. The Titans have beat 3 teams (Cowboys, Jaguars, Giants) that the Colts/Texans have lost to already. I hardly think I'm a homer for thinking they're the best team in the AFC South. Would you disagree?

Vince Young is ranked 3rd in the NFL in QB rating. He and Collins have 12 TD's and 4 INT's this season. Really don't think QB is a problem for them, and yes, a lot could change before the end of the season.

Yes. Vince was completely lost in that Steelers game. It was the first time he ever saw their defense, and he responded poorly to say the least. I don't blame Fisher for inserting Collins, and he certainly moved the Titans down the field better than Vince that day. I just wouldn't consider 1 out of 7 games of bad QB play (6 weeks ago against the best defense in the NFL) QB problems myself. Just my opinion. Definately had them that day though. I can't argue that.

that pats "d" has been coming up when it mattered most this year.there young an under bill there gna destroy in less than 2 years.there ranked 9th against the rush right now and 30th against the pass.alot of those passing yards have unfortunatelly come in the 2nd half.tom's backup is brian hoyer who had a great preseason from the games i saw.just like when cassel came in...u get under bill's system he can make anyone work.
it's just a matter of time b4 the texans an colts overtake ur titans..
i see the titans maybe taking 2 out of there last 8 after there bye week

Quoting this for the 1st time, but most definately not the last. I'm gonna have some fun with you over this one in the coming months.

I actually feel sad for Crusadah because he used to think Collins could do it, so I know he thinks Vince could do it.. it's just sad. That coach has no control over that team whatsoever. It's a shame because I do think he was a pretty damn good coach at one time. This is what happens when your team plays dirty, coach allows it, you let these bums do what they want.

here's another road vs home fact this coming weekend or shall we say monday night
The Jets enter Monday's game against the Patriots with a 5-0 record on the road this season.

The Patriots counter with a 5-0 record at home this season, with quarterback Tom Brady having won his last 25 regular-season starts at home, which ties Brett Favre's NFL record.

How rare is it that 5-0 road team faces a 5-0 home team?

Very rare, according to Elias Sports Bureau, as this will mark just the sixth time in NFL history that it's happened. The home team has won the last three and is 3-1-1 overall.

The breakdown, according to Elias (winners in bold):

2005: Colts (7-0) at Seahawks (7-0)
1999: Jaguars (7-0) at Titans (7-0)
1985: Bears (5-0) at Dolphins (5-0)
1948: Cardinals (5-0) at Bears (5-0)
1929: Packers (5-0) at Yellow Jackets (6-0-2)

i went to a steeler game in baltimore back in 2001. sunday night game, 12 of us went down. got our tickets for $90 on ebay. about 30 minutes before game time we set up camp in front of the main gate of the staium. then another group of about 10 steeler fans joined us, then another, then another. right before game time we had like 200 steeler fans waving terrible towels on both sides of the entrance. ravens fand had to cower and walk through us to get into their own stadium. it was like a steeler home game.

the ravens were begging scaplers all week not to sell tickets to steeler fans, but scalpers don't give about what color the uniforms are, they just care about the color green. tony siragusa urged ravens fans to follow steeler fans into the bathroom "where there are no security cameras" and "you know what to do." but those fucking pussies did nothing.

12-07-2010, 07:38 AM
so our qb comes into the game with a broken foot and then gets his nose broken

starting right tackle goes down

our punter goes down

starting tight end goes down

...and we still win. the ravens have only beat the steelers twice the last 3 years and both times we were using our 4th string qb. (each by a field goal)

rvens had that game. very poor coaching decisions on their end. plus, dwan landry cant tackle...

i honestly dont understand this team sometimes. you're facing a shoddy secondary and you have 4 WR's who can make plays, but you can't find a way to get them the ball? c'mon Cam. then the HC opts to go for it on 4th and 2 when you have a kicker who has been booming all season?... and that polamalu play? first, why are they throwing on 2 and 5 with 3 minutes left? and second, how does no one pick him up?

now, since you mentioned injuries, ravens were down their best backfiled blocker in mcclain, and thier best blocking TE in heap. last game, on that TD pass to win it, polamalu blitzed and heap was right there to pick him up. terrible.

but thats the thing about the nfl, it's always the small things that add up to a win...

Redskins suspend Haynesworth four games without pay

The Washington Redskins (http://www.nfl.com/widgets/videos/downloader?template=basic-html&confirm=true&icampaign=VG_Player_Link_HQ_DL) have suspended defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (http://www.nfl.com/players/alberthaynesworth/profile?id=HAY746506) without pay for the last four games of the regular season.
The team says in a press release Tuesday that Haynesworth was punished for "conduct detrimental to the club" and that he was told of the suspension by general manager Bruce Allen.
Coach Mike Shanahan said in a statement that Haynesworth "repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time."

Shanahan said Haynesworth "consistently indicated" to defensive coaches that he wouldn't play in certain defensive packages and refused to follow coaches' instructions in practice and during games.
Shanahan also said Haynesworth "consistently indicated" to defensive coaches that he wouldn't play in certain defensive packages and refused to follow coaches' instructions in practice and during games.
Furthermore, according to Shanahan: "When Albert was at Redskin Park (on Monday), he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative."
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports that Haynesworth will appeal his suspension, according to a league source. Also, LaCanfora reports that the Redskins will likely use the suspension as an attempt to recoup some of the $20 million bonus he received in April. However, under the current collective bargaining agreement, their ability to actually do so, based on precedent, appears scant.
Haynesworth has settled into a role as a part-time player this season, happy not to be a regular part of the team's "Okie" run packages. He's not the starting nose tackle -- as was envisioned when the Redskins switched to the 3-4 scheme this season -- and instead is playing mostly in nickel packages as a "three-technique" tackle, the role he had during much of his seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans (http://www.nfl.com/teams/tennesseetitans/profile?team=TEN).
It was Haynesworth's aversion to the 3-4 that led to months of offseason drama. The Redskins offered to released him if he didn't take his $21 million contract bonus on April 1, but he accepted the money. He later asked to be traded, skipped offseason practices, needed 10 days to pass a training-camp conditioning test, traded verbal volleys with Shanahan and was well behind in learning the new scheme.
"We've got a guy in front of me who can play the 3-4 better than I can, so whatever helps the team," Haynesworth said. "I do get to play the nickel, and I play well in that, so that's when you see me in there."
Doesn't he want to be a starter?
"I would like to start and start playing like I used to ... but right now I'm fine with it," he said.

On Monday, teammate Phillip Daniels (http://www.nfl.com/players/phillipdaniels/profile?id=DAN576866) called Haynesworth out, essentially for being selfish. He was publicly summoned to the coach's office. A television report suggested he appeared "hung over" at practice last week.
Then, late in the day, Haynesworth had his own say. Appearing on a radio station, he blamed the report on "haters" who don't like him, said he's too upset to meet Tuesday with coach Shanahan, and again proclaimed he could be the greatest ever if he could play the way he wants to play.
"I believe there's some kind of haters in the organization, that they don't like me," Haynesworth said on 106.7 The Fan. "I don't know if it's players, I don't know if it's coaches, I don't know who it is. Obviously, somebody who doesn't like me, which is fine. But when you go out there and start making up lies, then, yeah, I've got something to say."
In defending himself, Haynesworth seemed to confirm what Daniels was saying, speaking disproportionately about personal goals rather than team goals. He also referenced how he was used in Tennessee before signing with the Redskins last year. "Everybody's saying I'm not committed," he said. "I'm committed. I'm out here to play. I always play hard. I play hurt. I mean I'll blow out something before I quit playing."
Haynesworth said that he was too upset to talk to Shananhan Tuesday and that he would postone their meeting. "I'm not going into the office tomorrow," he said Monday. "I'm still heated over this. I just got sick of it."

I would disagree. I think Vince would be fine with a coach that wanted, and respected him. Jeff Fisher never has, and the team has now chosen Vince over Fisher. Hopefully, Fisher gets fired, and Vince is allowed to do his thing. Vince doesn't respond to Fisher's bullshit well. I'll give you that, but he shouldn't have to put up with it either, especially after saving Fisher's job last year. Did Vince Young have you type that? That was hilarious. lol If the Titans want to be successful in the future, the first thing they should do is get rid of Vince Young. He acts like a 5 year old, and he's a loser. The only reason Young is still there is cause of the owner. That's the only person left in Tennessee that likes Young. So if Vince decides to jump off a bridge again, and this time he goes through with it , it will be Jeff Fisher's fault?
