it's just a part of our national identity, our conciousness, it gets less and less severe with each generation. but this types of mentalities dont just go away. esepecially since the issue is generally suppressed and no one does anything about it. really though, it's only been a little over 100 years since the end of slavery, 50 the end of segregation. the issue is still alive, but i believe that for the most part it's dying out.

I think a lot of it is that the fringes scare the fuck out of each other. The white power dudes say some dumb crap about lynching niggers. Then the black power dudes say they'll kill every honkey that even looks at them funny. Then the white power dudes see the black power dudes and they're like "OMG, the black people are gonna come kill us, let's arm up!" And it goes in a stupid cycle that the media covers non-stop. Meanwhile, normal everyday people get on with their lives.

BTW, what's it like in the UK? I've heard a lot of conflicting stories; race relations being much better but also skinheads beating up Pakistanis and shit.

At a quick glance it is easy to say that these people are getting along fine. I don't know how to explain it quickly, but the easiest thing you can do is ask one of those ethnic people if they experience racism. Some may say they seldom do, but some might say they experience it every day.

Sorry dude but I have got to disagree with you there.

I'm gonna throw the U.K. out of the window for awhile, and talk about Europe as a whole (because that is where soccer is popular) and say that there are lots of ethnic ppl on soccer teams.

Like not just European ethnic ppl but ppl from actual different continents and shit, like Brazil.

There have been some problems, but nothing hardcore like an entire team ganging up on the ethnic population of their team (which in most cases would be about half their team anyway, maybe more) but I would also like to know where you heard that from because unlike most Europeans I am not interested in soccer, though I respect their scene and all that, and if there was a major incident it would surely be on the news.

It was probably worse but that was before my time.

And thanks for all the other replies, everyone, I was expecting to see quite a few sarcastic posts in this topic but there are hardly any, it seems that there are lots of intelligent ppl posting in this topic.
