I want to make a few songs, just for fun.

I don't know how to start though...

What kind of equipment do I need and which programs are good to put the rapped bars over the beat?

I ain't planning on making anything professional, just for fun.

Anyone know some free programs for this kind of stuf?

It's like all the other multitrack type programs out there.. bounce all the recorded vocal tracks (including the beat) into one stereo track and you're good to go.. If i undertood your point here?!
