View Full Version : DMX To Resurrect Hip Hop, Preps New Album

Controversial New York rapper, DMX, will be making his return to music with his 7th studio album, The Resurrection Of Hip Hop. The album, which is expected to be released towards the end of 2007, is currently being formulated as a response to Nas’s “Hip Hop Is Dead.”

“Nas is my dog, and he put out Hip Hop Is Dead—and it pretty much IS dead. But, I’m gonna resurrect it with his help and the real artists in hip hop” DMX told MindWhirld TV.

“There are so many people making records, that are not artists. They have absolutely no talent whatsoever. To the point that I’m ashamed to even be associated with them..ashamed to be in the same sort of music.” He continued.

Rumored collaborators include 50 Cent, The Game, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Swizz Beats, Eve and Bone Thugs N Harmony. While production will be handled by Swizz Beats, Scott Storch, Jonathan Rotem & The Alchemist.

“I just wanna clear up all the gray areas and let em know what real hip hop is, who the real artists are and put rap back on the map.”

All these fucking wack rappers that everyone keeps talking about when they say the death of hip hop or hip hop is dead should be named and shamed, the lines should be drawn clearly cos how can DMX claim he's going to resurrect hip hop when he has 50 on his album? I mean c'mon...

50 didn't kill hip hop.

Ofcourse he didn't because hip hop is not dead, but he is a major contributor to the decline of quality in rap music. He may not be it's biggest offender but I would put him in the list of rappers who should be shamed.

Nah, he still has some heat. He does follow suit though which is kind of lame sometimes. But he isn't as bad as people say.

i dont see why theres all this hate for 50 Cent wehn we got many more ppl releasing records that are 324234234 times worse. yall gotta learn how to distinguish the good from the bad, WHILE considering the current state of hip hop. i can name a ton of other rappers that are successful in the industry right now and make shittier songs than 50.

its like this, his last album wasnt selling quite good right? so what do we do? find a topic which every body is talking about, now that will help sell records right? ok, lets say, we will try resurect hip hop, and make an ordinary mainstream album with a interesting title...

But then I see threads about lil wayne and other rappers and people are praising them. People are even hating on wu tang members on their own board. What the fuck is wrong with people. This shit gets annoying. Dmx never fell off of shit and he has a really good list of albums.

How about this. I don't like Lil Wayne, I like Wu-Tang, I don't like 50 Cent and I just plain don't give a fuck about DMX.

Now, thats considered hating? No, thats considered not liking music. If I don't like something it doesn't mean I'm hating, it means I don't like it. You might think something is dope, doesn't mean it's dope, means thats your opinion.

too many people on this site who think their opinions are law.

DMX says he's gonna resurrect hiphop. Now if I believe he is I'm allowed to post a reply but if I don't think he is I have to keep away? Sounds a bit strange to me.

From looking at the guest appearances and producers that's gonna be on DMX's upcoming album, i can tell his album is gonna be wack just like his last 5 albums LOL. Nas is the only good guest appearance on his upcoming album. DMX should retire. I think DMX is still good lyrically but he's terrible at choosing good beats.

Never gone in for the really deep voice, the dog barking type stuff never did anything for me and both flow and lyrically wise he never interested me.

I do give the guy respect for the fact that it took ten years between getting in Unsigned Hype and getting a deal and an album out, but he stuck at it and ended up with 2 number one albums in one year.

funny thread

i do like it how if you dislike certain people you are a "hater", and if if you like certain other artists your a "backpacker".

i have honestly never listened to DMX outside a few singles, on those his rhyming doesnt appeal to me. although i understand one of his albums is meant to be good?

either way, i dont see how callaborating with the following for production: Swizz Beats & Scott Storch, is any different to all the other people "killing" hip hop.

and whether people like to admit it or not, 50 right now is fucking horrible on the mic, definitely one of the worst mc's from new york (some of the south guys are in a league of there own, but at least they have the excuse that thier making crunk, or snap or clap or whatever it is.). his influence around certain albums, has meant that g unit shit on occasion has good production, alot better than alot of the other pop shit. but having him featured on one track is pointless (and imo for publicity).

if DMX really cares, why doesnt he make an album, with some no name NY producers, and some local mc's who no one knows about, for a tiny percentage of what this album will cost? thats right, he is primarily concerned with getting the right people/sound to sell albums..... and isnt that part of the decline of hip hop anyway?

this is all speculation of course, maybe the album will be a fucking classic, its just very unlikely.
