god damn it dusk! haha why do you make us do this! ahhhhhhh! well you're all gunna prolly hate me but ima have to go with some led zep. and don't get me wrong, pink is the shit. hella dope. but i just like led zep just a bit more. with songs like black dog and dazed and confused(among many others)i had to choose zep. this actually reminds me, i haven't heard money from pink ina while. i love that song.

led zeppelin are the biggest rip off artists of all time....

listen to this interview from the howard stern show. it takes a few minutes until they get into it, but zepplin stole all of their songs from their first album.

not only did they steal for the first album but the second as well and if they could have , the third. Jimmy page had it all planned out for tha first 4 albums when they got signed but it turned into something else.

I am gonna vote LZ cuz they got all kinds of moods and Pink Floyd never rocked it that hard. It always came back to soft melody's.

Zep fused too many elements together for PF to fuck with them. Yeah, they ripped off the old blues guys but still developed into one of the most creative bands EVER. Also, PF's live show is awesome based on the lasers, props, etc. but Zep was legendary for straight rocking the crowd for 3 hours +, included improv jams. Popular bands don't do that anymore...

Love em both. Completely different. No point actually answering the question.

All I will say is that my 2 favourite albums between the two are probably by Floyd, but Zeppelin had more consistancy overall across all their work.

are u serious here? floyd had two if at all, ok albums...saucerful and atom heart mother....EVERYTHING ELSE is Consistency's beautiful sister.

opinion ofcourse, but either way...its comes down to this....are u lookin for a few rock hard records, or alot of smooth, strong records....?

^^ My opinions of their albums are as follows:

I really don't like the The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn with Syd Barrett, and the two you listed, plus More, Ummagumma, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason & The Division Bell aren't brilliant. The Final Cut is great in places, but a bit patchy.

Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, Animals & The Wall are all brilliant, and Dark Side Of The Moon & Wish You Were Here are two of my favourite albums of all time.

The first six Zeppelin albums to me are all 5* brilliant, and the last two are both pretty good.

That's why I felt Zep had it on consistancy, but Floyd had arguably my favourite works.

2 great bands and its hard to choose im going with led zeppelin though because im mostly a rock guy than experimental but floyd are dope.

oDoUoSoKo
10-20-2007, 12:59 PM
floyd weren't necessarily experimental...they KNEW what they were doing...Zepp i think experimented more because they came thru the (out) door...(eloels) with that blues/hard rock label...and slowly tried new things...in a good way ofcourse...

it's hard. i don't think i could decide. for individual songs, i think zeppelin wins, but for albums, pink floyd were more cohesive.

I disagree....i just saw roger waters in concert a few years ago, and that man is STILL going strong. The songs and there performances were awesome, and the lasers just make it better especially if your stoned outta your mind (and i was).
That was the best show I ever saw, not to mention there performance in Cleveland at the Municipal Stadium in 71 or72 was legendary to everyone who went. I wasnt born for 10 more years but my pops and all his buddies went and still talk about it. Even Roger Waters has a keepsake from that concert he carries with him every tour he mentioned during the concert I was at. Said he'll never forget that day....Floyd rocked em.

love boths bands but led zep takes musical skills to a way higher level then just being zaped on drugs 24/7 and making music like PF

oDoUoSoKo
01-01-2008, 04:11 PM
what?^^^^

what the fuck are you talking about? Jimmy page can hardly tune his guitar any more, he pisses black tar heroin...anyway....David Gilmour...drugs or no drugs, is a way stronger Guitar player CURRENTLY...if uve seen him play.

Jeru
01-01-2008, 04:58 PM
I can't agree with the Led Zep statement about taking musical skills to a higher level...Zeppelin was very good at what they did but Pink Floyd kept reinventing themselves, they were true innovators...I say this but I still stand by the fact that I like Led Zep more...Pink Floyd is great but I sometimes have a hard time sitting through some of their music. But if we're talking innovation Floyd takes the cake.

Man, Pink Floyd. And I know it should be politically correct to say that it's a close one but it isn't. Just listen to a song like Dogs and try to argue

ya heavy blues and folk music

but they also have crazy ass shit like Kashmir which has middle-eastern influence

Also tell me that When the Levee Breaks isnt the sickest drums you've ever heard. The Beastie Boys sampled it on the first track on License to Ill
