In the Top 12, seven albums are Beatles or Dylan.. That's a bit over the top..

Nice to see Master of Puppets getting love at #57! I was afraid they would put Black album on the top, but both RTL and AJFA were above it, good looks. (where is Black Album anyways, not in the top 1600.. or did I miss it?)

And ofcourse 36 Chambers as the best hip-hop album of all time! And Liquid Swords as third aster Illmatic.

Michael Jackson - Thriller, the best selling album in the history of music, at #1052? wft? (and no, number of sales does not equal quality, but c'mon, 1052?)

Johnny Cash could have been bumped up a bit.. Not musically mindblowing, but he had the lyrics.

All Eyez on Me was a little surprising on #1638. It's not that bad...

Theatre of Tragedy could have been in there too..

What's The Story, Morning Glory - #1805. Haven't heard it in years, but think it deserves better.

And where the fuck is ABBA? Suuure, Miles Davis got 45 albums better than any ABBA-album. What history you come from?

is there any mention of Wu-Tang Forever?

What about Soungarden albums, Temple of the Dog, any White Stripes albums?

11-06-2007, 03:46 PM
The Beatles are the most over rated band ever. I always see these lists with almost the whole top 10 Dylan or Beatles. I love Dylan, but neither of them are THAT good.

Highway 61 Revisited is better than any Beatles album anyway.

'Johnny Cash - Live At Folsom Prison', 'Johnny Cash - Live At San Quentin', 'Otis Redding - Otis Blue', Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti', 'Sly & The Family Stone - There's A Riot Goin' On' and 'The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses' should all be nearer the top.

Looked through the top 300 and don't think I'd seen 'The Travelling Wilbury's - Vol.1' or any Buddy Holly or Chuck Berry either (was scanning, so may be wrong).

OK Computer is possibly the most overrated album of all time as well.

Still, and nice variety. How's it compiled though? I mean the top 5000 albums?!?!

^^ Assumed it had to be something like that. Who has listened to 5000 albums well enough to order them, let alone enough albums to pick the top 5000!!

Decent list though.

11-07-2007, 12:17 AM
the rating system on that site i think reflects a pretty well compiled list.

11-07-2007, 08:03 AM
these list just function to give a broader view of music in general.

its good to see an artists youve never gotten into in a high position, and maybe think twice about checking them out.

and yeah Rolling Stones, Beatles and Dylan are ludicrously over rated.

but i still think the list is interesting apart from the top 10.

11-08-2007, 09:55 PM
i think some people who say "OO why the f is the clan hooking up with the beatles, whys it such a big deal"

because the top (in almost any album list like this that you can find) has the beatles at no.1 and the fact on where wu tang is on there. its just the merging of two super groups if you will.

but good overall list. a lot of variety, no real real bullshit.

are you serious?

This is a great list, really. Wu and hip hop generally gets the respect it deserves.

11-11-2007, 10:28 AM
deserves a better spot

quite the opposite

i think the original question was why is eminem so high on the list, that record certainly isn't the 4000th best record of all time, maybe worst...

11-11-2007, 10:54 AM
Put this in the hiphop spot if yall wanna talk about the featured hiphop albums in that list

list is kinda fucked up, metallica sucks and the pixies don't belong that high in the all-time list. neutral milk hotel? they weren't so great. confusion is sex > daydream nation. only thing i'm glad to see is television getting the recognition they deserve.

12-05-2007, 06:11 PM
NMH had one unbelievable album. It's way better (obviously) than what the band was overall capable of.

Also, what's with people putting The Beatles AND Dylan above A Love Supreme?
