Fuck Busta, why couldn't he use those beats when Dilla was alive? and how come some of those beats were ones he turned down for his albums?

damn boy, for once listening to skits in a hip-hop album may be useful. just do that on dillagence (if you can handle busta's rambling which may become grating after a couple "it's just that... that.... that... you know... it's just.... words can't express what i'm feeling" c'mon maaaan, it's not the words' fault !!!) and you'll have the answers to your questions. there's even a dedication to you in one of the final skits !!

I believe Dilla produced "Woo Ha" which was Busta's big first single.. I think.. so whoever said Busta didn't rep dilla is wrong.. busta was on slum village - fantastic vol 2 too..

p.s. fantastic vol 2 is the best dilla album

Fuck Busta, why couldn't he use those beats when Dilla was alive? and how come some of those beats were ones he turned down for his albums?

The reason is that he's signed to gay-ass Aftermath. I read interviews with Rakim when he was working on his joint there and he said Dre and them turned down all beats that Primo sent except one. That one they would accept only if Primo agreed to let Scott Storch re-play the bass and some other changes that they would make to the beats.
Same when Rae got signed to release an album that should be all RZA produced, all of a sudden it would be 50% handled by Dre.

wonderful album. to be honest, i hadn't heard much of J Dilla's work apart from a handful of tracks before i took a listen to this. His shit blows away a lot of producers these days, that kind of music is timeless. How come i never heard bout Dilla until the recent buzz with his death and all? This dude is easily one of top hip hop producers ever. If anybody got some more Dilla, feed me. i'm rly feelin his vibe.

This mixtape is nice, but a lot of the songs are old as hell; don't get played like this is some kind of new Busta/Dilla album.

I can't tell how many of them I've heard on pre-Big Bang mixtapes or whatever (High, Psycho, Conversation, Baggage Handlers of course). I didn't know Dilla did any of them, though.
