GZA the GENIUS!

all of the above... + Chuck D, who at his best is still a force to be reckoned with.

KRS-One is the best live, one of the very few hip-hop dudes who kill it onstage for real (w/o 20 weedcarriers stadning behind him)

GZA can still write & once in a while he'll wake up too, cf. "Fuck the bacon!" on "8D"

Slick Rick was GREAT on Chamillionaire "Hip Hop Police," too bad that wasn't a bigger record, even w/the excellent video.

Artistically, I'm most curious what Slick Rick might still have in him, he's had a VERY rough time the last few years & if could somehow translate that to wax...

(Jay-Z is almost 40 & I hate him now more than ever.)

LOL@Kurtis Blow hahahahahahahahaha. He's not doing albums anymore. I think he stopped recording in the late 80's. My favorite 40 year old rappers are Ice T, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS One, LL Cool J(i know his last 3 albums are gay but i believe he would sound good if he did hardcore music again. LL has always been a lyrical dude.), Brand Nubian, Ice Cube is getting close to 40, Willie D and Scarface of the Geto Boys, Guru, WC looks like he's 40 LOL, MC Ren(this dude has always been hardcore and i know he hasn't released a album since 1998 but if he was still rapping, he would still sound good). To the dude who said Nas, he isn't 40. Wasn't he born in 1973? MC Eiht gotta be getting close to 40.

hate to say it Rakim lost it for real; hey, it happens. I'd like to be wrong if he makes another good album but... it's hard to reinvent the world TWICE.

BDK lost it also, tho' he's OK (not better) on recent guest spots (Jazzy Jeff, UGK).

re: Kool G. Rap, he's still got physical skills but artistically, he seriously regressed... compare the range of topics to what he did on his three Cold Chillin' albums to all the ones that followed. "Click of Respect" kinda sucked too, even for a posse album.

Ice T could still surprise us, I agree; Guru might have declined too much physically to reckon with anymore.

I forgot about Freddie Foxxx, Spice 1, Too Short, EPMD, Run DMC(their last album Crown Royal was horrible and it should've never been recorded LOL. Run and DMC also shouldn't have done solo albums because nobody paid attention to them LOL.)

Black Thought emulated them on that track. It wasn't really Big Daddy etc.
