It's a very standard, cliche sort of question, but I'm interested to see what people list, because aside from Illmatic there doesn't really seem to be any other albums which are definitively considered GOAT by a majority of hip hop fans. Anyway, I'm gonna have to list 4 since I have a 2 way tie for 1st and a 2 way tie for 3rd.
1. Liquid Swords / Forever
3. Cuban Linx / 36 Chambers
I'm not a Wu dick rider or anything, but I am of the opinion that their early classics are untouchable.

NWA - Straight Outta Compton
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

Ummmmmm, you just defeated yourself with your own post. You listed 7 albums, and I am talking about a maximum 3 albums which are considered the definite GOAT among hip hop fans, "dummy".
I think you can pretty safely say that Illmatic is considered the number 1 GOAT hip hop album in the hip hop community, but after that there is any number of possibilities. That was my point, which you just helped me demonstrate with your own post.

You're kind of defeating the purpose of calling it a 'top 3' when you, the creator, don't even have 3. you got 4 or 2, depending on how you cross it up. What the fuuuuuck, man.
