i know im hella fuckin late but i just started gettin the TPB of the civil war tie-ins
so far i got:
Prelude to Civil War
Civil War
Peter Parker, Spider-Man
Amazing Spider-Man
Thunderbolts

the best being Prelude cuz the build up is so dramatic and makes so much sense
i know theres like 15 more TPBs but so far i think it was at least top 5 major Marvel crossovers ever
its just so real seeing how close friends/teammates turn to bitter enemies
anyone else enjoyed Civil War?

I was just gonna post a question on this myself.

I've never followed comics fully, so don't know all the various stories that have led up to Civil War. But I've been getting back into reading graphic novels recently, and reading online about House Of M and Civil War has got me really interested and I was wondering if someone could suggest what I should read to take in the stories of both.

There seems to be a number of tie-ins to the original 8 part House Of M and 7 part Civil War, and I wanted to know which really need to be read, and whether they should be read before or after these main stories. I prefer to buy graphic novels, and wish I could just pick up a couple of huge collections, but these don't seem to be available (yet).

Thanks in advance for any help.

wow u guys are mad late...eloels...this was a great story arc...but also a bit upsetting since Cap had to die right after...though two great things out of it came out...the Secret (New) avengers, and the new roster of the Thunderbolts...Penance is fuckin awesome....

as for House of M...jus go with the messiah complex thats currently going on...imo more enjoyable than Civil war just because im a huge X-men fan....all good shit though...

Still haven't worked this one out!

If I want to pretty much understand everything going on in the Civil War arc, what titles are recommended to go before/after/along with it?

I dunno what I need to read out of stuff like New X-Men/Avengers Disassembled/House Of M as well as the various tie ins to Civil War. Can someone just list a suitable set of graphic novels to read, and a suggested order to read them in.

Thanks.

read. avengers disassembled first.
then house of m
then the new avengers series from the start if you can up until it starts the civil war.
then you can pretty much read civil war and all its tie ins. the x men tie in was wack though. another storyline was secret war. it was mediocre, but it explains why nick fury aint around.

Any House Of M tie-ins worth reading?

you know, i dont think i read any of the tie ins at all with house of m. i just read the main series. the house of m avengers series is out right now. but its not really tied in, its just a back story of the formation of the avengers in that timeline. its pretty good though.

Ok, I've decided to check out (gonna take a while):

Avengers Disassembled
Avengers Disassembled: Iron Man
Avengers Disassembled: Captain America
Avengers Disassembled: Thor
Fantastic Four: Disassembled
Spectacular Spider-Man: Disassembled
House Of M
Decimation: X-Men - The Day After
Decimation: Generation M
Decimation: Son Of M
Wolverine: Origins & Endings
X-Men: Deadly Genesis
Decimation: Sentinel Squad O*N*E
Decimation: X-Men 198
Secret War
New Avengers Vo.1-5 (issues 1-25)
The Road to Civil War (including 'New Avengers: Illuminati')
Civil War

Wow, just worked out the total cost to buy all of that would be 179.83!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if I ever get through it all, then I'll think about Civil War tie-ins! Anyone recommend which ones to read? I've heard bad things about a couple.

as far as the civil war tie ins i personally liked the captain america, iron man & spider man stuff. the new avengers tie ins were my personal favorite. i also enjoyed the black panther & heroes for hire tie ins too. the wolverine ones were ok, and the x men one just sucked.

^^ For me, half the enjoyment of reading a comic/graphic novel is lost when reading it on a computer screen.

It's only about 2.50/$5 a month to join Marvel and read them online at their site as well, and they are beautifully presented, rather than cheaply scanned. Even that though doesn't do it for me.

The presentation on DC's Absolute series is ridiculous. They're so nice to read.

Cheaply Scanned? These are clear quality pictures, and with a decent picture viewer you can get a closer look on the art. Plus it's free. The price of comics these days is to much for people with a low budget.

but

I hear you, it can be a strain on the eye sitting at a computer. I usually wait until a series is complete and compiled into a book before I read them. Then I get the story all at once.

Yeah I tend to stick to the compiled books.

I just figure everyone can afford $5 a month, so getting torrents of Marvel stuff seems to me like piracy for the sake of being a cunt.

Fuck you. I've never seen a more over the top dick head response on this forum. $5 a month is hardly silver fuckin spoon. It's like one beer. Renting a single film or going cinema (theatre) to see one cost more than that. Less than a packet of cigarettes. Less than a meal in a burger place.

Besides, how I was born aint got shit to do with what I can afford. My job does.

I'm known for serving bitches top dick. It's quitting thick in here quick and your pad is getting soggy.

Have fun shelling out $5 a month. I'm gonna jack my cake and eat it too.

It should also be noted that downloading comics encourages people to read them and helps the industry.

These are stories I wouldn't purchase otherwise, but they expose you to different characters, and from there you may or may not look into their story arcs- merchandise, movies, video games, etc.

and

Pirates always get to fuck the baddest little bitches.

where is your sig from and who did the art on that? psylocke is the best...and i agree with bootlegging; i buy my favorites but with all the crossovers and constant shuffling of creative teams you'd go bankrupt trying to keep up...i tend to buy the stuff i really love because holding the book trumps looking at it on the computer, but to be honest bootlegging from torrents got me back into comics after being away for several years due to lack of funds, and put me onto series that I buy religiously now, so it is indispnsable as a means of turning more people onto the medium.
