Back in the 1990s, hip hop album covers generally all looked the same. Most often they featured chains, dogs, shiny letters, gold, diamonds, cash, and half naked ladies. I'm pretty sure every one of these terrible album covers was designed by the same terrible company, but people seemed to like it. I guess, when you get down to it, who wouldn't want to spend all day holding a wad of cash up to a lady's ass while surrounded by gold bars and big dogs. That's the American dream in a diamond studded, champagne-dipped nutshell. This week the Something Awful Forum Goons (http://forums.somethingawful.com/) show the world what other famous (and not so famous) albums would look like given that ridiculous treatment.
This entire theme... it's all Millie's fault.

Record grain shortages mean this Frogeye image is in high demand.

Millie, always trying to push artistic boundaries, opts for ornate wood carvings in lieu of gold.

About This Column

Photoshop Phriday showcases the tremendous image manipulation talents of the Something Awful Forum Goons. Each week they tackle a new theme, parodying movies, video games, comics, history, and anything else you can think of. If you want in on the action, join us on the Something Awful Forums!

What's Something Awful?

http://i.somethingawful.com/core/business.png Something Awful has been mocking itself and the internet since 1999, bringing you reviews of the worst movies, video games, and websites to ever exist. If it's something and it's awful, it's probably on Something Awful, where the internet makes you stupid.

MC Breed's It's All Good album cover is just like those No Limit artists album covers from back in the day. Cash Money records artists album covers were just like No Limit's album covers.

The good thing about those covers wasnt the design...I guess the were funny but those covers were made MONTHS before the album was even done. Thats why if you have an original no-limit album, the book would be mostly promotions of the upcoming releases and their release dates with the album art.....better marketing like that.

Those different color plastic CD cases were better than those widely used clear ones....they never break. I think they did those CD cases between 1996 and 1998.

The coloured cases stood out and used the softer plastic. Master P did it real smart back then.

yup, and almost every Cash Money release from 1996-2000 did the same exact thing. They would show all the cd's they got out, and the ones that about to drop

It was great promotion cause you would be like "aight I get this, this, and that. Damn I never knew this was out, gotta cop that"
