I swear great beer is made in my neighborhood, fuck country, nawmean. It's not on a nationalistic pissing contest or nothing, more like an education , maybe we can change the thread title and call it World of Beer, and everyone just rep the beer that's made in their own country. It'd be informative cuz really, the ONLY Australian beer most Americans will know here is Foster's and yall probably hate that shit. I'll give you Germany and Ireland, they're beer from there I really like, but Australia, at my store ALL we get IS Foster's. I know that's not actually the case but we should all help the global jetsetters amongst us and help them from drinking shit when they order a beer in a place they've never been.

Look at the color of the beer in those picks. Doesn't beer look fuckin good? I bet if I showed you a clear glass of it only, you might guess it for your own local brew for quite a few of 'em, right?

Samuel Adams make this beer here that hold the record for strongest in the world at 25% alcohol. I've read a lil on it before. They have to freeze the beer and then somehow seperate the alcohol of it from the water, and they do that several times over..............never had it though, they want a bill for a bottle and they only make 8,000 of 'em.

now we're talkin. man there is nothing like a cold quality brew!

ATL suprisingly has some good micros.

SweetWater - my fav micobrew co. their beers are creative and taste great.

Hummer- White Ale with coriander and orange peel. Cloudy with subtle fruit tones and a lingering finish.

Blue-Has a hint of fresh blueberries with a faint berry aroma. you gotta taste it to believe it.

420- yes, it has a disctictive "piney weed" flavor to it. you'd swear someone just busted a bud up under your nose. its crisp and almost citrusy. like a heineken without the skunk. I usually order the 420.
http://www.beerinfo.com/atlbeer/img/sw420.jpg

Atlanta Brewing Company
Yo this place used to serve ALL U CAN DRINK FOR $5 in the early 00's when they started out. now they are a reg brew/tavern. still have good prices. but man, i went like 4 times, it was worth being surrounded by drunk rednecks just to bust my belly with beer.

Red Brick Blonde- a good summer ale, refreshing and light.
http://www.atlantabrewing.com/images/beerpage_photo_blonde.jpg

Gordon Biersch- a downtown micro/pub right in the heart of ATL it is well know and always has a crowd. good german-style lagers

Hefeweizen- hints of clove, bubble gum and banana. unfiltered yeast carbonated.
http://www.gordonbiersch.com/brewery/beer/_images/img-main-hefeweizen.new.jpg

Märzen- smooth, mildly sweet, auburn lager. Bavarian roots.

I only had time to go to this one corner store by my job t hat aint got shit and they Shiner is even 8 bucks for a six!!! Fuck that. I bought MGD for 6 bucks. Dollar a beer.

its the same with all countries, they are just judged on the most popular beer.

Germany with Becks, Australia with Fosters, America with Budweiser etc. etc.

people who drink Becks or Heiniken and act as though its something far superior to there local average beers (even though mostly Becks and Heiniken are made in the country you buy them in, as is the case in Australia) really piss me off.

not that those two beers are bad, but they are just your average lager or pils.

there are some amazing German Wheat beers and the like which are never mentiioned when people talk about German beer.

anything by Weihenstephan and Schofferhofer to name just 2.

http://www.germanbeerguide.co.uk/images/weisse.jpg

and all these beers are brewed under Germany purity laws, unlike the 'German' beer you buy which is produced outside the country.

in terms of Australian beer, the stuff fredy posted was our average mid price range beer. (Crown is just Fosters with a gold label)

which is usually decent and drinkable.

Australia also has a wide range of tasterer beers, which arent lagers.

the following are all highly recomended:

Little Creatures Pale Ale (i mostly drink this, interesting unique fruity taste)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/Little_Creatures_Pale_Large.jpg

Little Creatures Bright Ale (slightly lighter taste than the Pale Ale)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/Little_Creatures_Bright_L.jpg

James Squire India Pale Ale (another strong Pale Ale)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/squire_ipo_large.jpg

Cascade Premium

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/Cascade_Premium_Large.jpg

Coopers Sparkling Ale (freshest tasting beer ive ever had)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/Coopers_Sparkling_Large.jpg

Gage Roads Pure Malt Lager (one of my favourite lagers)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/gage_roads_Large.jpg

Redback (great Australian wheat beer)

http://www.beerstore.com.au/beerstore/uploads/beerImages/Redback_Large.jpg

heres my favourite beer of late, a Belgium beer called Belle Vue Kriek, its on tap at a Belgium beer cafe near me. never tasted anything like it before, highly recomended.

Belle-Vue Kriek

I like those German wheat beers...especially Schneider Weiss....but I must give America props for those beers....I have tried around 7-10 of those above listed....of course there is a limited selection of those imported beers from each country. I had to try most of them in Buffalo.

But to the person that said America has better whisk(e)y than beer, I think it is quite the opposite...especially most of the ones made from corn....they almost set of my vomit reflex.

I got my whisky thread in the vatican section....if anyone else not in there that wants to talk whisky I can move that thread here.

any asian beers

tsingtao-chinese most popular beer from the city of Qing Dao. Qing Dao is on the east coast of china and was settled by germans. its weird cause the city looks just like germany, like what if the chinese took over berlin. anyway as expected qingdao is the beer capital of china and many would say asia. its the home to the 10th largest brewery in the world.

http://madaboutshanghai.blogs.com/mad_about_shanghai/images/tsingdao_beer.jpg
since there is very lil refrgeration, you most likely will be drinking it warm. also sincde the water supply is fucked, it is advised to drink beer instead of water. :)

its an extremely light but refreshing beer.

but at 5cents a bottle you can't complain
