View Full Version : Ruined Songs

Some songs were good before there was stupid crap added to the chorus or beat. I cant stand it when this happens. Someone will have a good flow and it is ruined by additional unneeded crap. The song "Gravel Pit" is a perfect example. CHECK OUT MY GRAVEL PIT!- that fucking sucks. that ruined the song

I hope you feel the same way. Are there any songs that you think were ruined by shit like that?

That's actually only "ruined beat" here I agree is ruined. At least the song was fun as fuck. Especially the one older God in the middle ("Allah met Bismillah, Allah met Akbar..."), he was thinking he was smart so obviously I laughed to tears.

Is U crazy ???? Niggaz wanna pop shit, I pop Clips, BEEEEETCh, I put my dick on ya lips over the beat drop is classic. Uey at his rawest. Purely kills it. Don't front on Uey

Don't agree with Illusory Protection, that guitar adds a little bit of "mental" into that song

Don't agree with Gravel Pit, that's a banger

I agree to Cappa's verse on campfire

Also, Deck's voice on Stick Me 4 My Riches, the singing in the beginning of Stick Me.... And of course, RZA's verse and the absence of Ghost's on Life Changes

Agree with all of the above.

Also agree with what the first poster said about Gravel Pit.

Quite a bit of Grandmasters was fucked up cos they didn't seem to have mixed and mastered it properly. General Principles is a sick beats with sick lyrics, but you can barely hear GZA.

campfire......cappa's verse a real put off ...

I thought he came alright...diddn't torch it or anything...
Compared to Method Man & Ghostface but he just says words on the beat
If you see what I mean ?
Which always makes me laugh with Cappa.
His verse reminds me of the man in front of the curtain pulling it back inviting you inside...

Unpredictable.

Yes & No
I would definatly take off Dexter Wiggles and have a Ghostface verse instead
But I really like the beat I have to admit.

Starter

Unpredictable, even though i can understant rza, because now he consider himself a "master producer", he couldn't just loop the sample, he had to add his own touch.

Yeah Starter just needs Tekitha or Blue Raspberry on it instead of Sunny Valentine.
And why GZA is on there I don't have a clue ?
Nice beat though.

I always thought that 'Illusory Protection' had one of the most epic beginnings to a song, but that fucking guitar wail KILLS the beat / song for me. I wish I could pay DJ Muggs like $50 for a copy of that song with it removed

Co-Sign...
That Intro is too sick for that beat...
What a shame.

Chrome Wheelz shouldn't been on Iron Flag, doesn't sound like the Wu plus has only Rae'n'Rza....and the beat for Dashing sux, I hope they'll make a remix for it someday

I really like Chrome Wheels but fully understand what you mean when you say it should
Not be on Iron Flag...more of a Bobby Digital song.
And it always makes me laugh when Raekwon come in...
He drops one of the shortest verse I have ever heard !!!!
Like GZA on Deadly Melody.

first one that comes to mind is Intellectualz with Rae, U-God and Sunz of Man....60 Sec fuckin ruins it and they talk too much over an amazing beat that should've been lyrically slaughtered

Yeah 60 Sec is unique thats for sure...
I would add Tai Chi as well.

tar pit, thx george clinton, fucker

Definatly agree.

careful click click:
Wait, hold up, chill, what's that son?
Damn.. nigga got fucked, shit, huh?!
it doesnt correlate with beat, but rza barely cares

That's just genius^
It's like he is franticlly searching around looking for the killer...
Like he has been running from him.
And I have always thought that the guy who made the beat...if he spits on it as well
He is clearly gonna have the egde over the others ?
No one else touched the beat in that manner on that song.
Like Eminem on Renegede made Jay-Z look stupid...
Becuae he produced it...

~

Straight of the top I would say :

Glocko Pop :

The intro, with the chick wanting something digital...
And then Bobby going off on one
Without that and make Street's verse a touch longer-
And it is an offical Wu-Banga in my view.

You start out with the two best verses on the whole song (Deck, Meth) & end with the absolute most horrendous verses (Ghost *and I'm a fan*, Rae) ever on such a classic beat :( Don't even get me started on Cappa's no sense-making, non-rhyming verse. The weeping tiger song off cilvaringz cd is ruined by that cheesy singer at the end, that was the type of song where you have no hook, or no singers, just let the beat rock, and throw like three verses on it. Rae's verse is the only reason i still fuck wit that song. \

8 Diagrams really would have been a pretty good album, if theyd hadnt decided to add unnecessary, annoying shit.

songs that were pretty much ruined:

- Unpredictable (what the fuck?)

- The Heart Gently Weeps (Ghost should never sing, ever. and Badu is annoying)

- Wolves (George Clinton sounds fuckign deranged, in a bad way. and its a shame, because i thought apart from that it was a pretty strong track)

- Gun Will Go (again, what were they thinking, ruins a perfectly decent track)

- Stick Me For My Riches (awful)

- Starter (again, i really like this beat, but the singing is pathetic)

- Tar Pit (gaaarrrr, corny)

i actually thought rza's production was good on 8 Diagrams, he just fucked up everything else.

Not really a ruined song, but that epic beat at the start is good enough to be made into a song in itself. Feels wasted as just an intro to a song.

it depends on how you look at it, the 2 last songs (on CD) are really only bonus song - the original LP has "Protect Ya Neck II The Zoo" which is fucking chaotic and then follows "Cuttin Headz" which slow things down a bit and closes the album on a good note. I fucking love "Dirty Dancing" though.
