Currently, I'm listening to Soundgarden's album Superunknown. It's one of the best alternative hardrock albums, also bands...

( I listen to a lot of rock, maybe even more than hiphop...Metallica is my fav. band + I love diff. kind of music, something strange, like Portishead, Daft Punk and others )

yeah, i know what you mean.

i get that feeling about hip hop a fair bit.

but i usually just start listening to DJ Shadow or RJD2 or Nightmares on Wax or Guts, which is pretty much hip hop.

i think you need a break from anything, listening to the same shit all the time makes it stale

i was able to listen to hip hop forever didn't even consider anything else, then all of a sudden i couldn't get myself to listen to it, i had heard all the classics, noting mindblowing was happening and all the new "dope" rappers (kayne, lupe, ortiz, technique) seemed wack to me.

well, i think it was making my own CD was the dead blow, then 8 diagrams dropping and sucking allowed me to let go and move on.

Preferencially speaking, I'd rather listen to the earlier more aggressive songs off of "Opiate" or "Undertow". Oh, and musically speaking, "Aenima" was by far their best. Saying "Lateralus" was their best is like saying Bulletproof Wallets was GFK's best.

Lateralus and Aenima were their best albums.

I think I prefer Aenima actually but i hear alot of people say Lateralus is their best.

Stinkfist, 46 & 2, Aenima are prolly my favorite songs from them

Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains etc. all great bands

its all a matter of preference true.

Tool have a pretty wide range, which means that most people can appreciate their work to some degree.

My bad about the misquote. I was trying to quote StyleMaster

The only reason I say Aenima is because they seemed to have a real good balance of the more edgey kind play with the more abstract/trippy kind of shit. Where Lateralus to me got bogged down in the abstract shit. I'm not saying Lateralus wasn't an amazing album, I'm just saying I liked the balance of Aenima better.

But yeah, it pretty much is a matter of preference with Tool, plus either way...Tool is nasty.

On a side note, the 90's were my favorite time for alternative rock just likes it was my favorite for hip hop.

Trent Reznor has displayed an amazing ability to evolve and change his sound with each record. Rather than dissapointing with these releases though, he manages to surprise and delight instead.

From Pretty Hate to Broken EP to Downward spiral to Fragile they are all completely different and yet equally amazing. Only album I didn't get really grabbed by was With Teeth. Maybe I'll go back and have another listen.

Damn, a Billy Idol fan, I thought I was the only black dude that liked his stuff. Man I grew up on 80's synth/bubblegum pop and old school hip hop.

The last non hip hop CD I listened to was James Brown & Angie Stones last joint.

I haven't been listening to anything but hip hop for like the last few years straight. But one CD that is both haunting and beautiful is Hooverphonic's Blue Wonder Power Milk. As far as non hip-hop masterpirces... Psyence Fiction by U.N.K.L.E. It had guest spots by Kool G Rap and Mike D. Both of these CD's are 10 years old now though.

I heard that Arctic Monkeys But never ripped it. a friend let me borrow and instead I just played it in the car a lot and then gave it back.

BEst band that I found out about was Last month when I Downloaded the Second YEah yeah yeah's album "show your bones".

That shit is nIIIIce.

Just when I thought I was threw with Chick fronted bands. This shit reminds me why I had appeal to them (female bands or female fronted bands) in the first place.

Big up to THe Breeders and Honorable Mention To Bikini Kill.
