Track 1 : Born Chamber - Pretty dope relevant intro in regard to the current state of the clan !!
Track 2 : Grab the Mic - Nice chilled out joint to set things off 4/5
Track 3 : No Said Date - Ill flow by M.K but no offence imo not really feeling the RZA beat that much so demotes song from 4/5 to 3/5
Track 4 : Last Drink - Solid track with nice beat courtesy of Math and nice flow by M.K 4/5
Track 5 : Love Spell - Probably a nice song if your into this thing but not to my own personal taste ; one of only tracks i skip so a personal 2/5
Track 6 : The Future / Interlude - Next generation Wu !! PEACE
Track 7 : D.T.D - Nice party song , nice contributions from Ghost and Rae , imo one of dopest tracks on album 5/5
Track 8 : Whatever - Another solid Allah Mathematics joint , nice verses from Street and Prodigal Sunn 4/5
Track 9 : Secret Rivals - Average song but fucking dope verse from Killah Priest and Meth drops an okay verse 3/5
Track 10 : Skitt - Nice 36 Chamberish Kung Fu skit , takin' it back ya heard!!
Track 11 : Digi Warfare - Unfortunately not feeling this Choco beat at all and one of the other tracks i occasionally skip 2/5
Track 12 : Old Man - Yeah ODB - R.I.P - and RZA rock this shit , fucking insane RZA beat , nuff said 5/5
Track 13 : Queen - The only other track thats not exactly to my personal liking but still listenable due to M.K's flow so 3/5
Track 14 : School - Dope intro on this song and nice beat switch up from RZA for his verse and both him and M.K proceed to drop some knowledge about the school systems many shortcomings , also has a segment with Tu Pac big upping the Wu at end of track - 4/5
Track 15 : Silverbacks - My personal favourite on this album , lovely True Master beat with dope verses from Deck and GZA 5/5
Track 16 : Masta Killa - Nice way to close up the album , heavily oriental beat and solid verses from M.K 4/5

Really good cd but it's a little bit like LOTLS, Beneath the surface because there are many dope tracks, but put in together, they not form a really good combination, so i don't like listen to those albums in entire like i do for Liquid swords, ironman, or OBFCL...

I think that first Masta's solo is classical wu banga! Dope beats sound "back to the times of 36 chambers" and mastas flow isnt bad like many hip-hop fans think. Lyrics make me think from time to time. So album has gone right at all

The beats were solid, but to be honest, Masta Killa can be boring as a rapper. There were a few tracks where he was alright, but most of it seemed average. Still a nice album, 7.5/10, best tracks to me are Queen, Digi Warfare and Masta Killa.

last drink - 4/5... beat reminds me of heaterz for some reason... don't know why...
love spell - 3/5... seems a bit out of place

whatever - 4/5... great beat, great verses...
secret rivals - 4/5... would have been higher if not for priest saying 'i'm like this, i'm like that'... has been hanging out with canibus too much...
digi warfare - 3.5/5... good but is missing something to make it great...
old man - 3.5/5... repetitive beat... good idea to incorporate the famous quote from the show though...

04 : Last Drink - The beat is to monotone and gets played out after a while. Too bad because MK spits some nice shit. 3/5
05 : Love Spell - At first I didn't like it, but it's a great song. I like it. 4/5

07 : D.T.D - Who the hell said this is a party song? This is a Wu-banger. Ghost face got the best verse. 4/5

13 : Queen - One of my fav. songs of this album. I LOVE when Allah Real sings "Didn't I blow your miiiiind?". Great beat, real nice verses by MK and a dope guestappearance by Allah Real. 5/5
14 : School - The intro suits the song perfectly. GREAT production by The RZA, listen to the drums and especially to the snare on the first beat. As much as I love MK's verses on this track, RZA steals the show both with the rap and the beat(s). 5/5
15 : Silverbacks - Another gem by MK with Wu-guests. GZA drops a dope ass verse on it. Hell, everyone spits flame over this monumental beat. 5/5
16 : Masta Killa - I love the lyrics on this song. The beat is nice too. 4/5

Overall: 4/5
A real solid 4 out 5. But as much as I love this album it lacked replay value. After a month it just faded away and now a days I barely listen to it. I was going through some bullshit by the time it was released and listening to this album reminds me of that period of time. Though I can't stop praising MK for his lyrics on this album. He really did his thing on this one. I can't wait for the next one, just don't take another 10 years!

This CD is great! It could have been longer, but the song with meth sucked!!! The flows were good, but the beat was pure GARBAGE!!! But overall a pretty solid album!

Masta Killa is definetely underrated. I liked this album. I wouldn't call it a classic unless I still love it years from now, but after having it for a little while, I still enjoy listening to it. 8/10

Great album. It was good to hear some real hiphop from the clan in 2004. Since the style kind of died out it seems. Masta Killa gots nice beats on this album, good production and great lyrics. A big step up. I liked every track on the album alot.

you know what's really funny like i always gave masta props... but i thought if he did an album it would stray away from "the clan vibe" but actually it was the reverse effect. i never fronted on this album .. Masta gets much love for bringing us back to the wu-roots.

Personal classic:

When I first heard it, I thought, close but no cigar. But It grows on me more and more as time goes on. Now I consider top notch. Its the first Wu album to not have any bad songs on it since Ironman. The classic tracks are "silverbacks", "whatever", "masta killa", and "last drink".

Taking it back to the clan's roots is exactly what every diehard fan wants to hear. The other clan members also all bring their A-games. And a great way for Dirty to go out on top.

The timing of this album was also important. The state of the clan may have been at its lowest by mid '04. What a pleasant surprise.

2.Grab The Microphone - (5/5) I love the way Masta starts the album so chilled out. I always thought of Masta as being a mostly aggressive rapper mixed in with 5%er so I always thought this album would start of with some choppin heads shit.
3.No Said Date - (5/5) I love the futuristic vibe of the track.
4.Last Drink - (4.5/5) Lyrically on point and nice beat
5.Love Spell - (4.5/5) This was one of the least popular tracks when it came out. Now I love it. The beat is nice to me.
6.The Future -(5/5) I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7.D.T.D - (5/5) Truely amazing track. Raekwon really does rip this to bits
8.Whatever - (4/5) Nice track. But the bass really lets it down.
9.Secret Rivals - (5/5) KP is amazing

12.Old Man - (4/5) Was mot my fav when I got the cd. But like alot of other odb stuff I find myself addicted.
13.Queen - (5/5) Right up there the best of the Wu love tracks
14.School - (4.5/5) I love the first beat. At first I had a problem with the beat change but listening over the album the fast beat fits the vibe of the cd
15.Silverbacks - (4.5/5) Wow Gza really made me think with his lyrics. By think I mean go back and listen over and over again to see what he was saying.
16.Masta Killa - (5/5) Excellent way to finish off.

This has become a personal classic for me. I was expecting a very dark sound but Masta stamped his own personality on this cd. I think this becomes very apparent by his use of various Wu producers and not just Rza.

I often go back to this cd because it is actually very uplifting to me. Prior to this album I always thought of Masta as either very aggressive or as someone who drops knowledge (5% influenced). But I respect him as a versatile artist now.

To me its 4.5/5. What stops it being 5/5 to me is that it is a bit 'constructed'. It features Wu Tang but mostly only one. Its almost token........he had to do this at the time but in the process he had to make sacrifices.

3.No Said Date: 5/5 (There is a very similar beat to the one on Outkast Aquemini)
4.Last Drink: 5/5 (Banger! He always performs this at concerts)

It's a very strong album production wise. Masta Killa has some really good lyrics, but he lacks energy and enthusiasm. not a personal classic, but I still enjoy listening to it.

4/5. The production is really not that good, I think MK comes nice but the beats just aren't there sometimes. I hate the secret rivals beat, the silverbacks beat is average, Last Drink is an okay beat, and Digi Warfare is just a really bad song all around. Other than that, I love Grab the Mic, School and D.T.D. grew on me. All the other tracks are solid, and it makes up a solid album.

it was the other way around for me... first I was like: this shit is boring, "but now, months after" I'm impressed with Masta's effort - his solo-debut outshines U-Gods, Decks, Cappa's debuts in my opinion. Only two skippable so-so tracks (Queen & Love Spell), which is quite a miracle in hiphop those days...

I think this album is overrated. I loved it when i first gat it but it got boring havent listened to it in a while. I think it has a few bangin tracks e.g School, Silverbacks and Masta Killa, but it just doesnt flow that well together for an album. Thats what made LS, OB4CL, SC etc classics and its missing here. Its more like a collection of songs than an album.

grab the mic: the 1st time i heard, i found it boring, but now i can't get these rhymes n this beat outta my head! very laid back... almost 2 laid back... (4.5/5)

no said date: luv this one. a fresh beat n a fresh masta killa. totally different from grab the mic but the same quality, only a bit betta... (5/5)

last drink: could be the soundtrack of an old kung-fu film. needed 2 hear this a few times to like it & now i luv it! very nostalgic... (4.5/5)

love spell: black sheep of the album. this song sucks but it isnt mastas fault. this b*tch of a hook singer (don't know the name) ruined this track. masta did well to save it but it's not more than (2.5/5)

the future (skit): wasted time... in 2004, they were 2 young.... listen to them in made in brooklyn!

d.t.d.: on this old sounding beat masta doesn't sound very fit and rae has made better rhymes too, but ghost killed it with his best verse since millenium! (i mean, fishscale wasn't that good, was it? don't know about more fish but i'm gonna buy it too) if ghost wasn't on this track, it wouldn't get (4/5)

whatever: i don't like prodigal sunn's raps and i think masta shouldn't have featured him on this one but the beat is one of the best i eva heard from mathematics and streetlife did his best. but masta definitely killed this track. flow n rhymes were perfect! (5/5)

secret rivals: beat isn't very great as well as killah priests flow but his rhymes were good. method man somehow did best in this trio but masta was also good. don't know what to give... i think (3.5/5)

skit: see born chamber

digi warfare: old school hip hop beat plus a party-masta... doesn't fit to the wu-tang but this one is great! (5/5)

old man: kinda crazy... if odb was rappin on it instead of wantin a cheeseburger or whatever i would give him 5/5. but i don't because of rza. i mean hes the best producer i know and he was rappin very good on enter the wu-tang but his rap style has changed... his rhymes are still good but i hate his flow and his voice... queen: lyrics are almost the same as on love spell but i thank god this singer isn't on this one. beat is like the background of a drama. like it. (4.5/5)

school: on this one rza is much betta than in old man. beat is very good and masta's intro and his verse after rza's are the shit. i think i give it (5/5)

silverbacks: the beat is dramatic like the one in queen. gza, deck & mk are a dreamteam... no more 2 say... just enjoy it... (5/5)

masta killa: best outro i've eva heard. i like it when masta does as if he's a wise man... beat remembers me of whateva but is a bit deeper... namsayin?

Thought i'd add my own 2 pennies about this album since i just re-listened to it a few days back:



1.Born Chamber

A standard Wu Tang album introduction. Taken from some old school kung fu movie most of us have probably ever heard of. It gets the message across of this album being a journey and sets us up nicely for the first musical track.


2.Grab the Microphone

Produced by Brock

Brock gives us a nice laid back beat with a heavy baseline which matches Masta Killa’s tempo. The lyrics are a little simplistic in places but the whole track comes off as a warm-up anyway. The imagery is excellent, the hook is crazy as well.

3.5/5


3.No Said Date

Produced by Rza

Probably the best song of the album, God knows what Rza was on when he made this beat but it sounds incredible, a high tempo oriental sounding track with windpipes and violin-like sounds. Masta picks his flow up about a dozen notches “this military arm marine sub machine gun”, multis, vocab, imagery and a catchy yet simple hook blows your eardrums out. My only complaint is this track is too damn short.

4.Last Drink

“after this drink, we shall become sworn enemies!” another kung fu movie sample kicks off this marching type beat. The hook is plain lazy however, Masta Killa comes off as a little lazy on this track. His vocab is strong but that’s about all you can say here. He’s still talking about rocking crowds but even so comes with the occasional good line “come with a beat as rare as leap year.”. one of the weaker tracks on the album.

5.Love Spell

A summery sounding beat which sounds oddly out of place on this album, some unknown singing the hook. Its still a definite head-nodder, Masta Killa comes with some geniune sounding romantic lines and a smooth flow. He rides the beat without breaking a sweat. Definitely a track to play for your girl.

7.D.T.D. featuring Raekwon and Ghostface

One of the worst sounding tracks on the album. Raekwon’s verse sounds like something Nas would do which is probably a good thing. Masta follows up with a verse filled with the same stuff he’s already been talking about. Ghostface finishes this effort off with a fire-packed verse perfectly on beat. The hook is fucking terrible. The lyrics don’t save this, Mathematics really did a bad job on this one.

Mathematics redeems himself with this stunning beat, every rappers energy is through the roof on this number, packed with multis and killer one-liners. The hook is catchy as hell. Masta Killa in particular tears the track to pieces.

9.Secret Rivals featuring Killah Priest and Method Man

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. True manages to fuck this track up with one of the worst beats I’ve ever heard. Which is a shame beacuase this track probably has the best lyrics of the entire album. Killah Priest comes with this killer couplet “I transform into a sandstorm and leave one third of the land-torn” in a verse which starts off shaky but finishes like fire. Method Man too, more than fulfils his potential on this one with an old school sounding verse “like Tyson, when all else fails start biting”, some hilarious shit. Masta winds up slightly out classed here. f the beat was better this could be a 4, even 5 mic song.

Ol’ DB will crack you up on this one, his vocals fit the beat seamlessly. Rza brings us some 60’s sounding, riding in your car type beat which unfortunately begins with Masta rapping “I rock the mic and make the crowd say ho”, update your style mate. Rza and Masta do get a great back and forth style going between them though. Some great stuff on here.

True Master pulls out a better beat for this one. Masta gets on a romantic line with his lyrics again. It’s like a more laid back version of “Love Spell”. Some great imagery and vocab on here which a listener would be used to by now. A nice little track to set the mood.

Rza comes back for a victory lap with a beat which start off with a very stripped down sound, but quickly switches to a fast pace beat as Masta hands the flow over to Rza. They paint vivid images of their school days with strong vocabulary and the occasional well-placed multis. Global issues get discussed here. Masta also successfully switches tempo between verses here but again remains stuck on rapping about rapping. Still a good track.

15.Silverbacks featuring Inspectah Deck and Gza

Produced by True Master

A surprising tupac interview sample kicks this rugged sounding beat off. This is easily the best effort from True Master on this album. Rebel INS takes the first verse and kicks thing off by singing, a really bad idea, but he quickly redeems himself by dropping a blistering verse about the struggle which is life, an excellent verse in all aspects. Masta follows with one of his best verses on this album and follows on with Rebel’s subject matter. Gza finishes this off with his usual incredible imagery and vocab. One of the best tracks on the album.

16.Masta Killa

Where was this producer earlier in this album? An incredible kung fu sounding beat which Masta rides easily with some excellent lyrics and flow. Instead of a hook the break between verses and laced with bruce lee interview samples explaining the idea behind jeet kun do. “be water my friend”. It’s a head nodder and a philosophy rolled up in one.

Rza really deserves credit for his production work on this album. Some of the best we’ve seen from him in a long time. Masta’s flow is a little dated but he still has an impeccable flow and an incredible grasp of creating images in a listeners head make for an album which sounds like it was released during the wu tang golden age.

Good review i nevely completly agree (although i think love spell is one of the whackest songs ive heard in a while - such a fuckin shit hook) id give this album bout 3 outta 5. I think DTD was dope doh, and the last 3 tracks were my favourite. I just think this album doesnt flow that well together at all. Its more like a collection of songs than an album. People on here call it a classic so there saying it in the same breath as OB4CL and LS, its nowhere near those two. there classics in every sense all the songs on those album flow together perfectly and i never skip any and that makes a classic album. And sometimes Masta gets a bit repetitive.

1. Born Chamber - Normally I don't talk about skits because I don't rate them, but this is just perfect. fits the clan well, I never skip it.

2. Grab the Mic - dope intro track, masta does a great job of ordering this album well, it meshes perfectly making the whole better than the sum of its parts. 4 out of 5

3. No said date - Inferno. call the fire brigade. The fans spoke loudly. 5 out of 5

4. Last Drink - theres a thread named after it, but this is just average. The beat is weak at best. 3 out of 5

5. Love Spell - This is pretty annoying, no where near as good as the elegant Queen. 2 out of 5

6. The Future - sloppy. I'm the assassin A-S..AH..A-S-A-S-IN....they get better tho. 2 out of 5

I was pretty disappointed up to this point in the album but the second half rivals any previous solo put out.

7. D.T.D. (Do the Dance) - great voice samples, beat, tony is nuts, It's a classic to me. 5 out of 5

8. Whatever - Streetlife is back with a vengeance. My favorite track on the album. Best hook in a long time. classic 5 out of 5

9. Secret Rivals - The most eclectic beat imaginable. This shit grows on you. Mef is spazzzzzola. Killah priest kills it too. classic underground 5 out of 5

11. Digi Warfare - It's a digi beat all right and a good one. Masta is incredibly on point here. I guess right now you can take a hunch, fine, I'm the ninth member of the bunch....you just moved up. 4 out of 5

12.Old Man - Fucking great sample! God I love dirty. . 4 out of 5

13. Queen - Man this is a relaxing joint. great voice sample usage. great tune 4 out of 5

14. School - This is just fantastic. beat changes, masta and rza drop knowledge. classic 5 out of 5

15. Silverbacks - deck, please save the off tune singing for ghost and u-god. otherwise this is a classic track. 5 out of 5

16. Masta Killa - Excellent Wu track. It's all masta, all great. great voice clip of bruce lee. Also a fantastic ending to the album. 5 out of 5

Exactly, I also feel this album ain't classic after more listens, but it's a solid effort. Lyrically I was expecting a bit more on some joints, but there was nothing exceptionally weak. People also go on bout how this album has the mid 90's feel/old wu sound, except for maybe queen, silverbacksand 1 or 2 others, the production cannot be really called classic Wu. Overall a 3.5/5 effort.

This album is great.

School Masta Killa and No Said Date are probably my fav tracks but there's loads of good stuff. Some of the production on this album is off the chain, other songs have some kinda mediocre beats but altogether a great effort from MK, with hot lyrics obviously.

EDIT: I agree with people who say it doesn't really have that classic Wu sound. But that's not a problem. I think the overall sonic feel of the album is better than 90% of all other Wu releases. The beats also sound quite polished on a lot of songs, which in the nineties was deinately not very Wu, but it's a really great sound, enhanced by the vocal samples eg. Bruce Lee ;) on Masta Killa.

Intro: I'm not gonna rate it but it's a nice intro to the album.
Grab The Mic: This is a good way to kick the CD off, but it never really excited me. 3/5
No Said Date: Okay, now this song is just bananas! As with most of the top songs on this album, it has a RZA beat. And a very good one at that. The chorus, simple as it is, is classic Wu in the way it's just a simple chant but it gets you hyped as fuck. Maybe my fav song on the album. 5/5
Last Drink: The way the vocal sample is cut before the beat comes in just sounds wierd. The beat is ehh. Sonically it's on the same vibe as the two tracks before it, I like it more than Grab The Mic, but it's nothing on NSD. Vocal samples sound dope in the chorus though, I just kinda wished they'd have let it play withought the chops for the intro. The skit at the end might even be my favourite part of this song lol, but it moves the sound of the album away from how it started.3.5/5
Love Spell: Blah. Reminiscent of some of the songs on MIB with too much gay singing (I know this came first). Ruins the run of the album so far with the rich kind of oriental beats.2/5
The Future (Skit): Lol. Praying Mantis. Better beat than Love Spell. The Wu kids are a nice touch, adds a fun innocence to the album. I'm not gonna rate it but it's a nice interlude.
D.T.D: At first I didn't like this track... but it comes equipped with a smooth beat, the emcees are nice. It is a marked improvement from Love Spell. Solid track I guess. 3/5
Whatever: The style of the song is just a little cliched for me. Wu can churn these tracks out in their sleep. Three emcees, vocal sample, etc. etc. - i can't help but bop my head and smile at the lyrics when I listen to it though3/5
Secret Rivals: Love the snare on this track. KP's flow is meh here, but gets better as the verse goes on. Meth is better I think, but his voice annoys me a bit. MK is like KP for me, don't know if it's the right beat for either of them. 3/5
Skit: And now we go back the the real hot shit.
Digi Warfare: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... I always theought this was a RZA beat but apparently not, great beat though. Party lyrics and shout outs tot he DJs. "Feat. U-God & RZA" always annoyed me about this track... would of loves a verse each from them, would have brought an even better old school vibe to the track. 4/5
Old Man: Dun dun dun dun duuuun... Accompanied by one of the greatest music videos ever, you cannot help but love Ol' Dirty. This track has an absolute trunk of funk! MK & RZA flow nicely on this, it's just so feel good, probably with a lot of thanks to ODB giving everyone a laugh in the studio. 4.5/5 Doggy, doggy, we'll steal your booone!
Queen: Puts Love Spell to shame. The song has a very 'silky' feel. Typical Wu again with the vocal sample but it's really good so it doesn't matter. 3.75/5
School: Great intro and outro. Has the same vibe as Digi Warfare to me. I always used to think it was boring untill the beat switched up and RZA came in, but now I prefer it at the start. Okay I'm gonna say this is my favourite song on the album. RZA & MK drop knowledge. "Tag a Wu Logo on the book margin" haha I've done that so many times in school. 5/5
Silverbacks: Typical Wu-Tang but with GZA, INS and MK on a song together I have no right to complain about anything. I think the singing at the start was a nice touch. "I Drank with the Devil and ate with the reverand." I love GZA. 4.9/5
Masta Killa: I have no fucking clue about who Baby Dooks is but this beat is FIRE! Bruce Lee is an incredible touch. Maybe my fav 'kung fu' style sample on any Wu album ever. MK doeos not disappoint, 'figure out the riddle'. 5/5 Ends the album perfectly.


I guess overall that makes 49.65/13 = 3.8/5 Solid album.

A near perfect debut from the 'MC Assassin' great album, great features, great Wu-Tang beats & Grab The Mic, Masta Killa, Last Drin &* No Said Date are unbelivable solo joints.
D.T.D. is crazy with the Otis Reading sample (Ghostface rips this up)
Secret Rivals is a real dark tey bouncy tracks Method & Priest is a unreal cobination, School is Genius with the switch up with the beat RZA goes off on one, and Silverbacks is just on some next level.
The one thing I would have prefered waould have been if this album was more dark like say liquid swords Masta Killa would shine on that sort of record
but "No Said Date" still remains a CLASSIC in my opinion none the less.

But yeah, I think this shit was a banger. Its definitely a good album to chill to and play in the background. Its also good to ride to.

Lyrics on point and production was tight.

I like how at the end of school they played Pac saying he wanted Wu to be on his lable. 2Pac and Wu were cool back in the day.

I'm careful calling it a classic because I have to see how long its gonna last with me... so I say banger for now.

so overall.. this album.. while having potential to be an IMPORTANT entry into the WU saga along the lines of Supreme Clientele.. it winds up instead to be just another dissapointment from one of my fave WU members.. me and MK share the same birth day august 18th.. so i was disappointed that while he had a couple ((literally)) of bangaz.. it lacked overall cohesion and vision .. it really felt thrown together and thrown out like a pimp and his ho.. make that money bitch.. this album is rarely played in whole in my rotation.. those few tracks i liked are on a mixtape i made for wu tracks..

i hope i shed some light and enlightened some fans ..and i hope i have people that agree with my rating... overall for a WU album this album gets 2.5..3 mics

1.. grab the mic... beat is type dope.. but MK's delivery is SOOOO WEAK.. i thought he was talking to us.. gettin ready to rhyme before i realized he was already 10 bars in.. LOL

2.. no said date.. beat was kiiinda nice.. but it had no true architecture.. it was just a thrown together RZA beat..and yet again ..MK's flow is ..ehhh.. iwas bored.. lyrics is nice always.. but flow is.. TIRED!! i love you MK ..but nah

3... last drink.. beat once again type dope.. could have been a banga.. Masta actualy comes type strong on this track.. but the track has no true architecture to it.. its just the beat goin and goin.. no DJ mixin.. nor drops .. no production variation in it.. but it is a tight track otherwise

4.... love spell...siiigh... love spell.. WEAK.. the WU was notorious for making DOPE ASS songs about the females.. but this is weak.. cute lil' beat.. but nah.. no wu tang flavor.. the chorus is WEAK.. WEAK.. no type of strength in the delivery..

5... the future.. this is where i got PISSED... this BEAT IS DOPE.. and should have been an intro track mixed wit kung fu flick snippets wit masta killin it
it has that true masta killa ninja essence and could have been much more.. but instead its wasted on his kids ..while cute.. is just a waste and a sign of what could have been if only somebody was awoke during album direction

6..DTD.. dope ass BEAT.. and overall track.. it sounded like it was pulled from an upcoming GFK album.. but masta wanted it so ghost said aight!! tru master did this beat nice.. one of the best tracks on the album.. masta was the weakest delivery wise

7...whatever... DOPE BEAT.. dope guest wu heads.. dope verses.. straight up wu vibe.. me likey.. even masta sounds like he felt like rhyming.. good work.. dope track

8... SECRET RIVAL...SUUUUUUUUUUUU... MMM. DOPE ASS.. BEAT.. MAAAN.. this beat is EVIL.. straight up masta killa WU sound.. TRU did his thing on the mixboards.. fuckin' killah priest.. KILLED IT.. meth, though sounding a lil commercial.. did his thing on this track.. still wu tang nigga.. masta killa held his own..but havin killah priest goin before you on any track is not wise because you gonna have to kick the verse of your life to stay on par .. but i love this track.. by fave joint on the WHOLE album

9... Digi warfare..... hmmm.. this is a article in some magazine.. how can i put this.. AWESOME BEAT.... it took me back to the early '80's on some planet rock joint.. THIS TRACK SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WU GENERAL CYPHA TRACK!!!! FROM MASTA 2 RAE 2 EVEN CAPPA.. this could have been the summer WU BANGA of 2004.. masta did ok holdin it down solo on this track.. but everytime i listen to it.. i get sad.. because im reminded of what could have been if someone ((RZA)).. was paying attention when this track was being made.. nice beat choco!!

10...old man.. LOL.. hilarious..ol' dirt steals the show on this track.. and the main reason i like this track.. RIP man.. the beat is dope.. and is wu.. but the way rza sampled it and mixed it could have been a bit more complex... he just let the beat ride.. and it didnt have any of that TLC i'd expect from the abbott
but overall the track was still tight!!!

11.... queen... ehhh.. beat was aiiiiiight.. eh.. weak.. delivery was average.. flow average.. beat average.. did they even try with this track.. niggaz sounded lazy on this joint.. production ..verses.. niggaz must've been partying the prior night.. i expect so much from the WU.. so i cant accept anything less ..forgive me!! i dont like it at all!!

12... school... SLAMMIN'!!! SLAMMIN!! .. this is a WU TRACK.. and most of all its a MASTA KILLA TRACK.. this is what i expect.. from the WU.. no less.. STUPID DOPE.. RZA even kicked a ILL VERSE.. when the last time that happened..?? masta ripped it ninja style in the beginning.. dope delivery.. dope energy.. dope presence.. WU TANG NIGGA!!!

13... silverbacks... STRAIGHT UP WU BANGA!!! DECK AN GZA DID IT straight up NYC style.. ILL BEAT.. ILL WU VERSES.. the feel good ghetto banga and GZA ended it off right..masta kicked a dope verse..though masta killa was ending too many tracks too weak on this LP
this is one the MOST TRUE WU TANG TRACKS on the LP and in this era ...CLASSIC!!

I personally love the tracks No Said Date, Masta Killa and Queen. I can't believe the amount you attack Masta Killa, pretty much everyone I know loves that track. Definately not a classic, but enough great songs to make it a banger.

I still think almost all the tracks are great, but I don't really listen to it often. It may well be because I od on Wu-Tang over the years, and don't listen to that much of them in general these days.

i'd say its gone from a 10 to a 9.5 for me maybe. because of having an ipod i dont listen to full albums as much as when i just had CDs but when i do run this album on the ipod from start to finish i enjoy it nearly as much as when it first came out.

I dunno, i was never a huge fan of this album. To be honest i havent listend to it in a few years, but then i dont really listen to Wu that often any more.

Like i said before it has some great tracks, but as an album, it just doesnt go that well together. Its more like a collection of songs. id give it 6.5/10. Its good, theres no doubt about it, but not amazing, and DEFINITLY not classic, like some people say

I been listening to this heavily the latest days and I gotta say I have underrated this album before. Shit is fucking crazy, the only track I don't like is "Digi Warfare" which doesn't fit in at all - Choco, stick to engineering please!! Masta really captured the old Wu-Tang sound on this one, some songs sound like they could be remasterd unreleased tracks from 95 (mainly No Said Date, Secret Rivals and School).

Grab the Mic - 8/10 - Nice intro, slow beat for MK's flow to warm you up to the album
No Said Date - 10/10 - Dope Beat, Killa rhyming the fastest he ever has i reckon, dope lyrics
Last Drink - 8/10 - Nice track, reminds me of Cypress Hills Whats Ya Number but slower
Love Spell - 8/10 - Fits in nicely with the previous tracks theme, Beat & Lyrics are tight
The Future (Skit) - 6/10 - The future kids of the clan, rhyming about poisonous praying mantis over a dope beat
D.T.D - 10/10 - Classic party track, Ghost absolutley kills the track

Damn, this album is real classic shyt.... I like it much! There r few classic jewels on it, and they r: No Said Date, Masta Killa, Silverbacks, School, Old Man, Whatever, D.T.D., Secret Rivals! That's should be it! it is lot of quality bangers for one album! I'm bangin these track almost everyday! I think Masta really captured that famous Wu-Sound, and I really like this album cuz that! But, cuz few tracks I don't like, like Last Drink (which i think is wack, really too smooth for my taste), I will vote for superior!

9/10 album.......... Really ill.....

I really think "Digi Warfare" is the only real fuck-up of the album, breaks the vintage Wu sound of the rest of the album which is a shame. since it's only 45 minutes long there shouldn't be a single wack track, still it's a really good album.

Well, I kind love to hear Digi Warfare from time to time! There is somethin in that track that I like! ;D

But for those 2 I must co-sign! Only tracks that I skip at that album r Last Drink (I do not feel that track at all) & The Future is weak too! Love Spell is also nothing special, but it is far from wack track. I think those 3 tracks r the only that I wouldn't rate as bangers.....

Not feeling. I remember at the Wu-Tang concert this guy came out on stage
looking like he came straight from jail, he got booed like crazy I was leading
the pack lol. Anyways, I'm not feeling this track all like that, definitely could've
been left off the album, that little skit before the song was bad. This is pretty
below average 3/5.

6.The Future (Skit)
C'mon......

7.D.T.D.
I'm feeling this track right here, Beat seems pretty solid and a banger
Raekwon starts the track off real smooth, that shit was real crazy Raekwon
spits ill dartz and catches you, Masta Killa comes in and comes in with his
smooth flow "Party people gather round watch the GOD get down" for some
reason that shit gets you hype and he just goes in, and to top it off Ghostface
is on the track and kills it, a nice Wu-Collab no doubt. 4/5

8.Whatever
Beat is bananas I must say and streetlife goes in, flowing like crazy, but
Prodigal Sunn easily makes you forget about Streetlife's verse with his verse
lyrically on point, then Masta Killa comes in and finishes it off nicely,
a pretty solid track. 4/5

9.Secret Rivals
This track is crazy, the beat just gets me in a mood then you hear Priest's
voice you know he's bout to rip this shit, Masta Killa got shitted on this time

I'm not really into this track all like that, beat is aight, then they got that wack ass U-God cameo in here, I was mad at that, you don't wanna hear the track anymore after you find out U-God isn't on it. Plus this is average. 3.5/5

12.Old Man
The S & S sample is all good, I like what they did with it, but this is average as well, this is one of the last times you hear Rza flowing on beat and you have one of O.D.B.'s last appearances so this isn't all that bad. 3.5/5

13.Queen
The beat on here is better than the love spell track, but this is still some average shit. I'm not feeling the hook, but I do think Masta came better than he did on love spell i'll give him credit for that. 3.5/5

14.School
I wasn't really feeling this joint like that at first, but it kind of grew on me. The beat is on point and Rza drops a re-used verse (See Remedy - Education), it sounds aight, then Masta Killa comes in and drops that knowledge on ya'll. Like I said I wasn't really feeling it like that but it's gotten better. 3.5/5

15.Silverbacks
This beat is real nice on some rainy day shit for me, and Deck starts it off real nice on some nice shit, he definitely goes in on here with the beat, your attention has been captured, this is one of his great verses (Non-Battle Style Rap), then Masta comes in and does his job stays on topic and lyrics are sharp, Gza tops it off with one of his metaphors it was cool, nothing too special, this is another highlight on the album. 4.5/5

16. Masta Killa
I like the Bruce Lee samples on this track, the beat is aight and Masta comes sharp with the lyrics a nice outro to the album, pretty good shit. 3.5/5

This is the LONG anticipated album by Masta Killa and he came correct, for the most part the lyrics are pretty solid, and there is a some good production on the album, but some tracks could've been left off (See Love Spell) and some were weak (Digi Warfare), it's all good though,also it kind of gets weak towards the end of the album which kills it , there is no type of replay value on here, but this album keeps you wondering what took so long??? ****Overall 4/5****

4.Last Drink
I love this beat on here and the Kung-Fu sample used, and Masta Killa
does his job real well on here, some wack lines "lion like roar", but mostly
good shit "I'm came home from the war head fucked up from the things that I saw"
he comes through on here, a great track. 4.5/5

5.Love Spell
Not feeling. I remember at the Wu-Tang concert this guy came out on stage
looking like he came straight from jail, he got booed like crazy I was leading
the pack lol. Anyways, I'm not feeling this track all like that, definitely could've
been left off the album, that little skit before the song was bad. This is pretty
below average 3/5.

6.The Future (Skit)
C'mon......

7.D.T.D.
I'm feeling this track right here, Beat seems pretty solid and a banger
Raekwon starts the track off real smooth, that shit was real crazy Raekwon
spits ill dartz and catches you, Masta Killa comes in and comes in with his
smooth flow "Party people gather round watch the GOD get down" for some
reason that shit gets you hype and he just goes in, and to top it off Ghostface
is on the track and kills it, a nice Wu-Collab no doubt. 4/5

8.Whatever
Beat is bananas I must say and streetlife goes in, flowing like crazy, but
Prodigal Sunn easily makes you forget about Streetlife's verse with his verse
lyrically on point, then Masta Killa comes in and finishes it off nicely,
a pretty solid track. 4/5

9.Secret Rivals
This track is crazy, the beat just gets me in a mood then you hear Priest's
voice you know he's bout to rip this shit, Masta Killa got shitted on this time
just listen," I whip tornados with Iron Chains", Method Man comes in and KILLS this shit
5 star flow and the lyrics are on point

11.Digi Warfare
I'm not really into this track all like that, beat is aight, then they got that wack ass U-God cameo in here, I was mad at that, you don't wanna hear the track anymore after you find out U-God isn't on it. Plus this is average. 3.5/5

12.Old Man
The S & S sample is all good, I like what they did with it, but this is average as well, this is one of the last times you hear Rza flowing on beat and you have one of O.D.B.'s last appearances so this isn't all that bad. 3.5/5

13.Queen
The beat on here is better than the love spell track, but this is still some average shit. I'm not feeling the hook, but I do think Masta came better than he did on love spell i'll give him credit for that. 3.5/5

14.School
I wasn't really feeling this joint like that at first, but it kind of grew on me. The beat is on point and Rza drops a re-used verse (See Remedy - Education), it sounds aight, then Masta Killa comes in and drops that knowledge on ya'll. Like I said I wasn't really feeling it like that but it's gotten better. 3.5/5

15.Silverbacks
This beat is real nice on some rainy day shit for me, and Deck starts it off real nice on some nice shit, he definitely goes in on here with the beat, your attention has been captured, this is one of his great verses (Non-Battle Style Rap), then Masta comes in and does his job stays on topic and lyrics are sharp, Gza tops it off with one of his metaphors it was cool, nothing too special, this is another highlight on the album. 4.5/5

16. Masta Killa
I like the Bruce Lee samples on this track, the beat is aight and Masta comes sharp with the lyrics a nice outro to the album, pretty good shit. 3.5/5

This is the LONG anticipated album by Masta Killa and he came correct, for the most part the lyrics are pretty solid, and there is a some good production on the album, but some tracks could've been left off (See Love Spell) and some were weak (Digi Warfare), it's all good though,also it kind of gets weak towards the end of the album which kills it , there is no type of replay value on here, but this album keeps you wondering what took so long??? ****Overall 4/5****

felt the same, there was an element to this album that made it a true Wu album but with a different perspective and feel that hadnt been introduced yet

It got some great reviews - I remember one was sort of 'If Wu delivered another classic right now would anyone notice - well they just have' and I thought yeah he really deserves some credit and limelight. I went solid though as it wasn't as good as I hoped and I think is over-rated

Too appreciate MK verse on school you have to have went to High School in Brooklyn. His verse is really potent. Erasmus Hall all day.

Dope LP, too bad Made in Brooklyn was garbage. Who was the A&R on that one?

I think this album has aged well. It has alot of replay value for me something many post millenium Wu albums don't. I consider this a personal classic, I appreciate some will dissagree on this album. It just had that cohesive feel I like in albums, MK was great on this. I do think his slow flow puts many off though. All the guest dropped great verses and the beats were top notch. Loads of classic tracks that end up in alot of my playlists. The title track, grab the mic, digi warfare and my favourite the last track Masta Killa. I remember posting in the past about the track Masta Killa, wondering whether he was dissing Eminem.
