Zombies Ate My Neighbors? It was released for the Genesis and the SNES, and it had like 50 levels or something like that. Don't remember how good it was.
Primal Rage? It was like Mortal Kombat, but with dinosaurs. I know I spent some hours playing this one.
Maximum Carnage? The Best Spider-man game ever in my opinion.
Any others that you'd played a while back that probably didn't get fame like Sonic & Mario?

Both crazy slept on games. Especially Tobal. Tobal 2 was even better though, and beautiful to look at for the time. Never got released in the US or Europe though.
http://www.games.net/features/images/116721_2.jpg
Another interesting fighter that never got any shine was Ergheiz. It was made by Square (as was Tobal) and you could play as characters from FFVII as well as new characters.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/Compilations_of_FFVII_958/Cameo/e1.jpg
And then there was Bushido Blade. One of the most original fightinmg games ever, sadly it faded away with little shine like the others mentioned (did get a mostly inferior sequel though).

I remember playing this alot, I would beat up everyone until I got to fighting Evander himself, He would kick my ass so fast, but I got close sometimes with a dude named Michael Lamb. Don't know why I remember that name. Funny thing, just like when I play Madden now, right when the CPU is about to win, it resets for some odd reason. Like yesterday I'm playing Madden 08 and I'm losing to the Patriots, and right before the final whistle it resets, thus maintaining my win streak. Don't know why it does this, anyone have the same problem?

LuckyTheWonderDog
04-11-2008, 03:14 AM
Only problem I guess is where do you take it? It's a pretty limited concept. There's only so much attack wise someone can do while sitting on a bike. They tried to branch out a bit when they made Skitchin, but that was an average game at best.
http://www.consoleclassix.com/info_img/Skitchin_GEN_ScreenShot4.gif

Yeah I'm just thinking what would you update other than graphics? It's the kind of game that going back I found only really kept my interest for about half an hour. I would say keep it arcade like in playability (no simulation..that would suck). Add online play and keep the two player. They could add more fancy manuvers like for example you're speeding along and a truck crosses your path, you can slide through the under carrage and other stunts like that.
LuckyTheWonderDog
04-11-2008, 03:25 AM
Thinking about the kind of tricks you see people doing on bikes, I guess they could incorporate some sort of moves into the game. Rather than just punch/swing chain, you could do some sort of move like swinging both legs out to one side or whatever while still holding the handle bars.

The first arcade machine I ever poured my money into was a Street Fighter machine on a campsite when I was a kid. It was a revalation to me at the time as I had never seen a 1 on 1 fighting game before. I even remember the machine had how to do the fireball, hurricane kick and dragon punch moves written on the top of the cabinet. It was fuckin hard though. The only way I could beat Mike was to crouch down on the far left side and uppercut him to slowly chip his life down. No one I knew had ever heard of it, little did we know the impact SFII would make a few years later.

Every Shinobi was worth playing. I had the original for my Sega Master System and loved it. Never played Cyber Shinobi. Revenge Of Shinobi was one of the first games I got for my Megadrive/Genesis (in the Mega Games 2 pack with Golden Axe and Streets Of Rage) and it improved on the original in every way. I love Shinobi III though and actually bought it for my Wii one night when I was pissed. Don't regret it though as I play it pretty regularly. And if you count Shadow Dancer: Secret Of Shinobi as a Shinobi sequel then that was class as well.

I remember when you fought Mojo you had to press Reset on the console itself. I remember the first time I did this, without being told what to do, and gettin all happy, cuz I thought that that's where the game ended. .
Why did you have to turn off the console at that part???

What games exactly from the Genesis/Mega Drive can be found on the Wii? I was thinking of buying one just for this reason.
I wouldn't buy one for that reason!!!
You can download an emulator and every Genesis game for free on a pc, and plug in a controller and away you go! It's not really worth the money for Virtual Console games.

It was part of the whole gameplay, there was this virus that needed to be erased and the only way to do that was to reset, now if you held the reset button for a long time, then the enitre game resets. This was the most ingenius code I've ever decoded.

The Wii is definately worth getting, but not to play Genesis games on! If you wanna play Wii games then get one you won't regret it.
As for Genesis emulators, if you have a pc of your own then download this:

And then get the games from here:

Kinda reminds me of the first Metal Gear. When you fought Psycho Mantis he "switched" the channels over. Well really the screen went blank and when it came back he was in a different place.
The first time I completed that I would quickly fiddle with the remote to change the channel back.

Sorta, but yes another great puzzle. I've played Metal Gear on the Gamecube, and that trick would only work for about a minute or so, before you had to change to the next port. Since the Gamecube has four you had to use all of them, or if you're lazy just connect to the last one, but then how's that challenging?

Zombies Ate My Neighbors? It was released for the Genesis and the SNES, and it had like 50 levels or something like that. Don't remember how good it was.
Primal Rage? It was like Mortal Kombat, but with dinosaurs. I know I spent some hours playing this one.
Maximum Carnage? The Best Spider-man game ever in my opinion.
Any others that you'd played a while back that probably didn't get fame like Sonic & Mario?

There was a series of fantasy games called Wizardry for the PC and Apple. They ran for years up to about number 8 or 9 I think. that involved dungeons and the like, but I don't know enough about them to say if it's what you're talking about. Wizardry V and VI came out on the SNES and VII was on the Playstation.

Yeah shit.. the very very very first "Double Dragon" on the NES was fire ! Loved that shit. Also "Paperboy" was rowdy son.. AND "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" on the NES so the really old ones got me hyped.
All the co-operative gameplay titles had me going back in the day.. some little niggas slept over so we could play "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" all day 'n evening haha. But what's that game a bit similar to "Double Dragon" that has like 3 frogs with sticks you can choose as a character ?"
Shit, I forgot that the old Sega had classic titles !! : "Streets Of Rage 1 & 2" ... one of the greatest games ever.
"Golden Axe" ... that was far ahead of it's time.
And can anyone tell me what the title is of another REAL SEGA CLASSIC where you play as a wrestler, some karate kid etc. and you bash your way through levels ala "Streets Of Rage" , "Golden Axe" , "Double Dragon" etc.
That was the best looking smoothest playing I had ever seen.. I was in some arcadehall and it amazed me back then. I did play it on Sega afterwards and kloved it but i can't remember the title.

HAHAAHAHAAHAHHHA Holy shit, the fuckin Oregon Trail. I would always choose the blacksmith and my herd would always drown when crossing rivers, that and I couldn't hit a fuckin rabbit for shit. HAhahhAHHAH. Fuckin cheap ass school that didn't get enough funding to get current computers.

What the fuck you got a blacksmith taking a herd across a river for? Shouldn't he be making horse shoes and swords n stuff?
I remember the 'hilarious' names the possible suspects had in Carmen Sandiago games. Stuff like Rob M. Blind, Justin Case and Ruth Less. I was clearing out old shit when I moved recently and I actually found the Britannica dictionary that came with Carmen Sandiego!

Shit I don't know, the blacksmith made the most money, so I always chose that option. And everyone needed to make the trip to Oregon.

Blacksmith can also make swords and knives and shit, so I can see why he'd appeal.

Supaplex

Years and years and years of playing this game, same levels, over and over and over again. And it never bores.Actually it does, but in time it un-bores.
Crusader
http://consoles.cbueker.de/images/img-ft_crusader-noremorse.jpg
Nothing more fun than a red suited soldier comes in a factory Schwarzenegger style and just shoots everything on sight.I think Max Payne is inspired by this game.
Colonization
http://www.oldgames.sk/images/oldgames/strategy/Colonization/colonization-009.png
This game is the Civilization of DOS.I played it for 15 hours without a pause sometimes.Like every CIV game, its like a drug.Very addictive.
Simon The Sorcerer
http://web.tiscali.it/squakenet/screen/simon_the_sorcerer.jpg
The most comical game I ever played (along with Stay Tooned).Lucas Arts was the best developer team out there.I remember one moment especially, you talk to a guy and he asks you 'How did you know I was a wizard',and you reply 'When I move my pointer over you it says wizard'.I laughed for hours.
Sanitarium
http://www.emunova.net/img/tests/1001.jpg
A creepy adventure. When you start the game, you see guys pounding their heads on the walls, talking to themselves in the mirror.Great game, very complicated.

*Reviving the thread*
This game isn't too old compared to most in this thread, but I think that it is has a 'remember this' status. 1998. I've played it then, playing it 10 years later. Every year, I take some time out (mostly winter) and rock a co-op with my brother. I could call this game the G.O.A.T., but there were too many games with various innovations that made the core game better and more advanced. But the feeling while playing this game is unique, and I think I could call this game... immortal. I know the following video isn't representative enough, but it's the best I could find that has the game music playing. It's just straight up creepy. The atmosphere is perfect. I needed the game sound.
ps. That is only the demo

But back to the g.o.a.t., I have a top 3 and I can't really choose between them,one is a RPG,one is a shooter,and one is a strategy,don't know how to compare them.
1. Diablo (THE FIRST AND ONLY THE FIRST),Titan Quest plays a close game
2. Splinter Cell series,Max Payne is reeeal close
3. Civilization series

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallout3/index.html?tag=result;title;0
It's planned at the same time for PC/Xbox/PS3 so I think I am in a desperate need of a new computer. I hope parents open up and give some cash so I could buy a new GFX card,a new CPU,a new motherboard, and ram...So basically yea, I need a new computer.
Probably I'll get the loan, I did pass all 8 grades with all straight A's (5's in Serbia)...

Civ III is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better then Civ IV in my eyes. It has that charisma that keeps the game immortal, just as I said with Diablo. Heroes of Might & Magic also have feeling. That just proves how sound and atmosphere blended perfectly with the surroundings and environment could separate the game status from great to colossal
